Dunno why, but I'm actually hoping for the pace to be a bit slower , since I know the story's ending
baseballlover312, 06-03-14 : "Nuke Moscow...Don't worry Russia, we've got plenty of love to go around your cities"
Sarah Palin, 08-03-14 (CPAC, on Russian aggression) : "The only thing that stops a bad guy with a nuke is a good guy with a nuke"
Big thanks to jdog for making this AMAZING userbar!

I'm feeling rather happy after my 8th in the USA ITT NC.
Time to do even better in the RR, going for glory!
June 26, 2017 : USA National RR Championships
If history repeats it's self than Taylor Phinney is already your winner.
But, Phinney might not even get the opportunity with Talansky and Dombrowski
wanted to take their chance to be America's best from team Nike-Oracle.
Our team has the same problem. Lawson, Berry, Warbasse, and me...
No one is certain who is going to lead. It's all up in the air.
--- *** --- *** --- *** ---
At least the profile suits me. Better than the only other time
I got to race in the USA RR National Championships in 2013.
20kms in and no action. Let's create some action then. I attack!
I'm joined by 7 other fellow Americans, many refuse to help set the pace.
A few kilometers later a huge shift of power in the race,
Tejay Van Garderen has a flat. ExxonMobil - Geberit drops back.
Nike starts pushing the tempo in the peloton.
I'm starting to get some help in the breakaway.
Amazing how one event can change an entire race.
60kms left, TvG and his team have been chasing for over 120kms!
There are now 30 seconds off the main peloton of 26 riders.
The rest of our Fox boys have fell off the pace.
Gavin Mannion is on the attack. The gap is 4 minutes up to the breakaway.
With that news, I'm off! My partners had stopped helping me again because
I'm the best puncheur in the group, many of them are sprinters.
But they weren't going to let me go. It takes them just 5kms to drag me back.
Behind in the peloton more attacks after Mannion is brought back.
First are Alex Howes and Matthew Busche.
Then, Mannion again. This time with Tejay Van Garderen!
He fought all the way back and is now on the offensive. Amazing!
After the breakaway brought me back they stop working looking
at me to bring them to the finish. What a bunch of idiots.
This allows Alex Howes and Matthew Busche to get across the 3 minute gap rapidly and with 10kms to go they attack right by us, I try to at least counter.
A kilometer later TvG goes flying past me and a Bissell breakaway rider.
He is a man on a mission, joining Howes and Busche. What a race from Tejay.
One of these 3 are going to win. The crowd is cheering on Van Garderen
after one of the most inspiring performances in all of sports this year.
(It's been a slow year in other sports... )
But, it's Alex Howes that steals his moment. Busche 2nd, Van Garderen 3rd.
1km to go and I'm picked up by the 2nd group on the road.
I fought and fought but I'm totally out of energy. There is nothing left.
No energy to even sprint to the line and it costs me a top 10. I finish 12th.

I'm a bit disappointed now, but when I look back when I'm old and grey
12th place is quite an accomplishment from where I started as a cyclist.
The next race update will include Stages 1-3 of Tour of Qinghai Lake:
Spoiler
My training is now in your hands for the rest of my career.
After each race I can receive both EXP and Form Points.
EXP is a permanent stat gains while Form is temporary (the next race update).
A maximum of 3 EXP and 5 Form can be rewarded after each stage.
After any stage I receive EXP or Form points
you guys get to decided where I put those stat gains to use.
All you have to do is comment on which category you want
1 of the stat gains to go (Ex. Mountain, Sprint, Flat, etc.)
The EXP points are used up first followed by the Form.
Each member can only say one category for themselves.
And it will go until all the points are used up.
If you have any questions about my training, leave a question below.
It looks confusing at first but it's rather simple,
and this will be the only method for me to progress talent wise.

No way though
Also, shame those other escapees didn't work, it could've made it to the line

Trav did his best. Not sure if breakaway was the right choice but still a very good race!

EXP - Hill / Form - Downhill, Mountain, Recovery
@Jesleyh: Hi And yes, if they would have helped Travis they probably could have held off the depleted peloton.
@547984: China should be a fun race. It also could be Travis' final "Grand Tour" because as we all know the story is coming to an end.
@sutty68: Will do, or at least he will try to.
@Jakstar22: After reading all the man-game NC I thought a breakaway was his best shot to win. And it almost worked.

I'm slightly disappointed in the way you used "could be"

@BBL: Hi = Hill. I'm not that cruel to Jesleyh to not recognize that.
@547984: Well, I have to keep you guessing all the way to the end. Isn't that my job as a story writer?
@All: I'm officially on spring break! Well, not yet... I got 5-page paper to finish by midnight, the story of the month nominations to finish, two Red Wings articles to hammer out, and I should probably get started on a 8-10 page paper due in two and half weeks. School work comes first but I'll use The Comeback episodes as a break from the school work.

Well according to PCM Hil = Hill. I I just wrote "d," would that be downhill for you? If so, then you obviously hate quality things and don't respect real and true efforts..

@BBL: Sure why not. I'll accept "d". As long as I know what it means I really don't care.
@Jesleyh: Not yet, but I'll accept the fact I'm off from school all next week so that's nice even though I'm not going any where.
@547984: Thanks, it's the path I've chosen. The majority of the school papers aren't fun at all but the RW articles and of course The Comeback (and my upcoming PCM.Daily story which I have been planning in the background for at least a month now) makes everything worth while.
Now time to stop procrastinating on Daily... again. Back to work.
