Thanks for this Abhi! I love statistics so i digged a bit deeper into it and also compared it a bit with IRL Ranking from procyclingstats to see which ones are the standout nations in MG compared to the real world cycling :

Of course there are a lot of Nations that dont really have any powerful riders IRL but have some here. First ones standing out with a lot more of quality and also quantity you find among the Top 25, Greece. Also Finland (i am surprised they are so weak IRL) gained a lot. And then of course all the Nations that are not even ranked on PCS like Sri Lanka, San Marino and so on.

So what about the other way arround? Nations that are stronger in real world cycling but are poor in MG.
Uruguay lost the most "ranks". Surprisingly there are some small caribic nations and so that are better IRL but i guess because there is so much of them the distribution is a bit off (also Podium Ambition doesnt have their best year

).
The first bigger name might be Ecuador which are actually quite powerful. From the bets ones its actually Spain who underperforms a little.

Indeed after the prime years of Madrazo and Tenorio Spain have gotten significantly worse that they probably should be. A lot is probably also because of a guy like Ayuso who is yet to develop at MG.

Ecuador have two good riders IRL if Iâ€™m not mistaken, and their MG counterparts are both pretty uninterrsting.

Iâ€™m happy to see Greece up sÃ¥ high though, even if it is obviously unrealistic.

Germany up high mainly because of Herklotz I suspect.

MG World Rankings

A couple of months after the last update, the MG World Rankings are back, and this time there is an extra consequence of the same.

MG Team World Rankings - After August 2024

Gazelle continue to lead the rankings with Tinkoff and Polar making their to near the top. Evonik and Puma have lost ground, and so have Vesuvio, while Aker and King Power are holding firm. Lidl are the worse off among non-promoted teams, a consequence of their poor season so far.

Unsurprisingly, ISA and ELCO lead the PCT, with Lierse the highest placed repeating team. Benetton have made the highest upward jump while Everesting take the biggest fall.

Newton Foundation are still ranked better than 10 current PCT teams, which is unheard of! Euskotren and Air New Zealand are the worse off repeating CT teams.

Despite his team's under-par season, Herklotz comfortably leads the rankings from Lecuisinier, and major improvers Wirtgen and Bernal. The biggest mover in the Top 25 is Pogacar, while while decline has hit Manninen quite hard!

France continues to lead but Belgium have overtaken Netherlands recently for the 2nd spot. Subject to route selection (with host nations getting automatic selection into the Elite RR), the Top 23 countries in the rankings have qualified for the Elite Road Race of the 2024 MG World Championships while positions 24 to 47 will go into the B Race.

In the Top 20 is pretty awesome, as is the huge jump for Areruya from 36th to 12th - would be amazing for him to finish in the Top 10 and have both of those from just one year in PT.

The less said about Rwanda the better - going to be a historic effort to get Areruya in the rainbow stripes

I guess Italy should be the highest scoring nation without a primary focus by quite some margin. Then I guess Poland (Wisniowski, Banaszek, Kasperkiewicz et al.) and Portugal (Reis!, Rodrigues, Almeida et al.) were pretty high among the nations without any (current) focus - maybe even Eritrea, but I'm not sure how much they scored besides Kudus.

Looking forward to see the official results, though, great suggestion there

MG Rider World Rankings - End of Season 2024

Herklotz is head, shoulders and torso above everyone else in the rankings. His gap to Wirtgen in 2nd is almost equal to the gap between Wirtgen and Valter in 19th! Just behind Valter is Vansevenant, who has seen the kind of meteoric ride in rankings rarely ever seen among the top PT riders!

The new addition! Germany and USA are the nations with the most sponsor picks with four teams picking Germany as their primary focus region, again the tied highest with Norway. This however does not translate to the absolute best results as their rankings are 4th, 9th and 11th, respectively. The best ranked nation, France, has only team with them as their primary focus and one more with it as their secondary focus. Oman, Kuwait and Tanzania are the only nations to not score despite having a team with a focus. Italy has the highest number of secondary focuses with no team having it as a primary focus.

Whereas that 900+ ranks gain by Groves surely looks nice, I doubt it's correct. What is your point of reference? Because in the "end of July 2023" rankings, he was already up to 106 iirc. Even considering that update, Vansevenant made a huge jump, as he was 445th a little more than a year ago...

Thanks for doing this, and really hoping that Switzerland can gain a few spots in the rankings - in particular overtaking Poland with less than half as many active riders (and no sponsors) should be doable in the medium term.

Thanks! Looking more realistic now, given that Groves already had a strong season last year - only to top that in 2024! +61 is still the 3rd best value in the Top 50 if I'm not wrong.
Vansevenant definitely impressive, even though it's clearly favoured by the fact he was in PCT last year (where he barely outscored Schmid, and now he's twice as good

).
Speaking of, Schmid actually was still the 3rd best improver in the Top 100 behind Vansevenant and Hirschi, who really had a breakthrough year!

Jorgenson also really impressive, gaining 154 positions to take 67th place while racing in CT

MG World Rankings

A lot late but here we are finally...

The first update of the 2025 season is here! And just in time to be used for the World Championships (the Country rankings that is!).

MG Team World Rankings - After August 2025

Evonik's dominance at the top of the PT, in combination with the Top two from last season not performing well, put them into the top spot of the rankings! Tinkoff move into 2nd after another consistent season. Rabobank and Indosat are the biggest gainers in the PT.

Despite a big fall, MOL are still the top ranked team in PCT. Duvel are the biggest gainers in the PCT followed by Ekoi.

Bianchi's dream season makes them the biggest movers in the CT. Glanbia have not has a good season!
