I've come up with a new idea; let's do a nation classification.
The rules are simple; on every stage we take the times of the three best riders of each country, just like in the team classification, the country with the least cumulative time at the end of the Vuelta wins. Only countries with three or more riders count, if a country drops beleow three riders they get DNQ'ed.
The first classification after the TTT:
Spain 42'39" | Colombia 0'15" | Italy 0'16" | Belgium 0'31" | Australia 0'33" | Germany 0'46" | the Netherlands s.t. | Switzerland 0'49" | United Kingdom 1'00" | New Zealand 1'08" | United States 1'13" | Poland 1'19" | France 1'25" | Kazakhstan 1'30" | Russia 1'35" | Eritrea 2'01" | Belarus 2'20" | South Africa 2'23" |
Unsurprisingly Spain wins.
It seems fun to do, if it works out, I'll do it every GT.
NOTE: The nation classification is not a real classification. The riders can't win any price money nor a fancy leaders jersey or race number. The classification is purely for the lolz.

They were forced to be WT team last year. They are interested in only French races for which they are invited anyway. There would have been more deserved here than them.
TBH they are a team with small budget and having too many big riders is not capable or what they seek. |

You mean last 2 years.
Because earlier they won TTT in GTs 3 times.
Haha, lol. True. I think I remember a Hushovd-lead Garmin win in 2011, am I right?
Shonak: Yeah well, I didnt mean it like that . Just like another display of how relatively dominant they have been so far in WC-races in terms of always being consistent. |

Impressive performance by MTN too. Only 30 seconds down. Not bad at all for first timers. |

I am aware, but still, in the Giro they had a strong team. But They seem to have used up all of their fire power early in the season. |

Cool idea fosfor. Don't think Spain will give away their lead at any point during the next three weeks but we'll see. Should be fun to follow in future GTs as well.

Does anyone have any tips on how to improve the tabel so it forms two neat lines, in stead of the chaos I created? |

Yep, put it in the 100% table and just put | in-between two (or more) things you want to separate.

GC guys: Nairito (and Valverde ofc) obvious winners although Orangutan and Bertie also with a few crucial secs advantage over Froome, Purito etc.
Quintana
Valverde s.t.
Chaves + 6
Arredondo + 9
Uran + 11
Contador + 19
Gesink + 19
Kelderman + 19
Evans + 21
Sanchez + 21
Anacona + 25
Froome + 27
Aru + 31
Betancur + 33
Rodriguez + 38
Moreno + 38
Martin + 41
Hesjedal + 41
Pinot + 1'34
Impressive ride from Movistar, showing once again TTT is more than the sum of individual parts. Too early to start thinking about a 1-2 after inevitable Froome and Contador abandons?

Good shit. I think its pretty safe to say FDJ's man will be Elissonde since Pinot dont wanna/dont have the shape to ride the GC, while Bouhanni almost paced Elissonde for the last kilometer allthough they were 6 at the finish line even without him..
Im also surprised of the fact that Betancur was able to keep up with his team. I honestly expected him to lose at least 1 minut |

I think they've switched their focus from flat races (sprints, cobbles, TTs) to hilly and mounainous races quite a bit in recent years. If you bring guys like Slagter, Acevedo and Cardoso in place of retiring Vande Velde and Zabriskie, that's not going to allow you to be in the mix for TTTs.
And they've just lost their best TT rider they had this year to BMC. |

They will be having a glass of champagne for dinner just like Moviestar
Anyone else noticed Quintana racing with nr. 59? There seems to be a power struggle between Valverde and Quintana kinda like we saw with Armstrong and Contador back in 2010 i think it was. |

There is no way that Valverde will lead, he just rode the tour and Quintana is better even if Valverde was on form |

They can't have both 51, so no big surprise that it goes to Valverde in his home-race, in which he podiumed last year.
Also, very, very far-fetched in my humble opinion to already talk about rivalry, when all they have done in the past is shown and talk support for each other.
Bertie smashing Armstrong & Co. was in 2009 btw.

And he hardly did any pulls I think, hmm... Alas, from here on out, it can only get better though.

"No way"? Of course Quintana is top-gun & main-favourite but anybody has to wait for mountains to know more and a lot can happen in 3 weeks. Valv finished 2nd & 3rd in two previous editions, both times after racing le Tour. He currently leads UCI World Tour Rankings and achieved his best Tour result this year. If there is no way for a guy like Valverde to lead at Vuelta, than there's no way for anyone in this world.
