you still have to be pleased with a podium finish, although 1st would have tasted sweeter than 3rd on GC

Too bad Martin couldn't keep the lead on the climb. But his time will come in the bigger races |

admirschleck Right, wasn´t the best overall result but still a nice stage for us.
the_hoyle Agree, I´m happy with that podium finish. You can´t always be at the top.
sutty68 He´s getting better and better for the big races.
baia You´re right baia, there are bigger races in the future.
Ian Butler Hope you´re right with that. By the way, it´s great to see you here. |

Tour Méditerranéen Last Stage
This is the last stage in France and we´re going to see another battle between the overall contenders. Not sure, if there is a chance for Martin or Uran to improve a lot here but we´ll try our best.
Another breakaway group and again our King of Mountains Pauwels was in it with success. He took both sprints and of course the KoM jersey. Congrats to him!
Pauwels was pretty empty after that and he had no chance to keep it up with Atapuma and Simon. They worked together perfectly and when the last big climb was reached, they were still in front.
The pack was chasing them with high speed. Our team made the pace there, trying to push some overall opponents to their limits.
Rigoberto Uran made his move when Pauwels was brought back. Tony Martin was still in the pack with Stybar on his side.
Now the final was in progress. Froome and Pinot came with some moves, catching Uran easily! They looked pretty strong today.
Bauke Mollema started an attack as well. Can he reach Froome, Pinot and Uran?
Well, Uran didn´t have the legs today as he lost the contact to Froome and Pinot quickly. Mollema caught him as well.
Only one kilometres to go for the leading group with Froome, Pinot, Mollema, Atapuma and Simon. Mollema had a great day especially on the downhill. Froome and Pinot looked strong, too. Atapuma and Simon were quite exhausted after their long breakaway ride.
Here came the first chasing group with Martin, Uran and even Stybar. The situation here was pretty interesting since Peraud was the one, chasing the leading group. His advantage to Froome (+53sec) and Mollema (1m01sec) wasn´t the smallest but he knew, they would get some bonus seconds in a sprint finish.
Indeed! The stage win goes to Mollema. Pinot finished second ahead of Froome. Atapuma and Simon were just behind. Was that enough for Mollema to take the leader´s jersey as well?
This group was led by Hivert and Stybar, who had the best legs of our team in the end. The gap to Mollema was 40 seconds which means Peraud defended his jersey by only 1 second! Martin and Uran finished in this group but they lost some overall positions again.

Unlucky to lose the top 5 placement on that last stage. KoM jersey is good result though

sutty68 Thanks mate, we should be happy with our performance there.
the_hoyle Quite unlucky in the end but there are coming more important races for us. The KoM jersey was a nice thing.
VoetsT Thanks, I agree. |

Not the best result for the team, but as a race that isn't really main priority for OPQS, KoM and 2 in Top 10 are more than enough on Tour Méditerranéen , I guess.

@admirschleck Like you said, we´re happy with that, nothing special for sure but still a good performance. We´ll try to improve in Portugal.
Volta ao Algarve
Another smaller stage race for our team is in Portugal. We´ve sent a pretty good squad to this beautiful area, with two flat stages for the sprinters, one hilly stage including a little mountain arrival and a nice time trial about 34,8 kilometres. I really like this stages and I´m sure that our leader can do great here.
First of all we´re talking about the sprint stages. Those might be controlled by our possible sprint train with Van Keirsbulck, Steegmans and Mark Renshaw. Mark is going to sprint for some nice results there. There could be another man in this sprint train with our team captain.
Michal Kwiatkowski should be able to finish at least in the Top 5 in the end. Really looking forward to his performances on stage 3 and of course in the final time trial, which looks perfect for him. De Weert, Brambilla, Poels and Alaphilippe will be a strong support for him, that´s for sure.
Talking about our main opponents in Portugal, I really have to say, that there are some big names! Rodriguez, Nibali and Rui Costa might be the strongest competition for us. But also Hesjedal, Cunego, A. Schleck, Rogers and Wilco Kelderman could do very well here as well. Especially Kelderman showed some pretty good shape in San Luis, you might remember that!
Also some big sprinting guys are here with Chichi, Boasson Hagen, Kristoff and finally a Giant guy with Degenkolb. I know those Giant sprinters are pretty famous in this story section at the moment. NOT.
Let´s get this one started, hope you´ll have some fun, reading the stage reports. |

Just wait Paris - Nice and see how "popular" they are...
Anyways, good luck in Portugal. I feel safe to say that anything less than win for Kwiat would be disappoiting here. He can hold on with best climbers and puncheurs on that hilly stage and then just crush the competition in TT. At least that's how I imagined it.

Strong team here. Interesting to see what Renshaw can do in the sprints and Kwiato in the GC.
