It's unbelievable how they've underperformed.
This team basically isn't weak at any category. They've got either an average or above-average player/players at the following:
QB
RB
WRs
O-line
TE
D-line
Linebackers
Secondary.
This is one of the most balanced teams you'll ever see. Literally no big holes. And yet they go into games with a god damn losing mentality because of their POS coach.
I honestly don't think Schaub is as bad as he's been this year. I think Kubiak's game-planning and play-calling has become so god damn predictable and conservative that Schaub is pretty much doomed. I'm sorry but when you never spread it out and throw downfield and you hand the ball off 40 times a game and only throw to your TE over the middle, a screen pass behind the LOS, or a 3 yard out route, the defenses are just going to tee off on you man. Kubiak's uber-conservatism and retarded establish the run idea is just dooming this team.

Well said. Basically there are a few principles.
1) Have trust. Schaub will not be benched with Kubiak as coach. Kubiak will not be fired with McNair as owner.
2) Milk the clock. If we are up 3 points with 6 minutes to go in the 2nd qtr, it's time to run Foster boom boom boom 3 times up the middle. Hey, we signed the best punter, right?
3) If Andre Johnson is open throw it to him. If not, throw it to the DB covering him. If he is injured, throw it at the locker room (throw it away).
4) If 4th&5 throw an out route for 3 yards.
5) If opponent has 3rd and long always blitz more than 6 people.
6) If there is pressure within 5 yards of Schaub, Schaub crumbles to the ground before anyone even gets to him. If you don't believe me you haven't watched enough Texans games.
7) Media. The proper response to all questions. "We need to do better next time. We'll work hard and hopefully pull out a win next week. We weren't at our best this week but we gave it our all" After all, the team cannot afford to make any bold statements.
8) Play-Action does not work unless Owen Daniels has a 10-yard radius of no defenders, otherwise expect the play to fail.
9) Football is a game of two quarters. Dig yourself a hole and attempt to climb out of it. OR, dig a hole to bury the opponent in, when your opponent comes back, jump in the hole and commit suicide.
10) There is always an excuse. It's remarkable how Wade Phillips can bear Kubiak indirectly saying something along the lines of "Our offense got going pretty well...our defense had some missteps in the end..." Come on, even Arian Foster will tell you that every game the offense lets the defense down. Give me the best D in the NFL and I'll tell you they'll allow Jacksonville to score if you put them out there every 5 minutes.
11) Screens. If it is evident that you will lose 3 yards on a RB screen, you might as well drop the damn football.
12) Down the field. If you don't give one of the best receivers in the league a chance, it won't do any good. If he doesn't catch it there's a chance for Interference. If it's picked off you still have a chance to tackle him. Don't give me bullshit about Romo sucking because he throws too many picks. Having it intercepted 50 yards down the field is the same as punting in my book.
There you go Kubiak. No need to carry a laminated paper the size of half your body. I've basically summed it up in a few points.

While I agree that blitzing isn't that great of an idea it's still way better than going into prevent defense and allow the 5-10 yard pass that combined with a few yards after catch leads to first down. |
