In my game Goos is very promising too... In just more than 1 year he developed mountain 70 -> mountain 75
Nice win with Capecchi! |

Stage 1: Paris-Nice
Stageprofile:
Our Startlist:
Racereport:
For this Paris-Nice our goal is to get L.L Sanchez to win it. He’ll be assisted by Gesink, who is not in a good form yet so he can get a good form and help Sanchez. The debut of VVV-Venlo Pro Cycling in the Pro Tour has to be good, so we sent a very strong squad to France. For stage 1, a prologue, we will assess each rider individually.
The guys to beat today:
World champion Tony Martin, Cadel Evans (last year’s tour winner) and of course Cancellara! Here they all are in action:
Our favorites are Westra, L.L Sanchez and Taylor Phinney! We will talk about the riders’ performance from the lowest time till the highest time:
Guillaume Levarlet: The Frenchman is not a good prologue rider and is mainly here to assist Sanchez and Gesink in the mountains. He finishes 167th place with 1,03” behind the winner.
Theo Bos: Theo is here for the sprints, his fitness is not the best yet, but we are confident that he can do well in the sprints! He finishes 152th place with 56” behind the winner.
Aidis Kruopis: Aidis is here together with Theo to get good results in the sprints. He finishes 129th with 49” behind the winner.
Robert Gesink: Robert will assist Sanchez here and build up his form. His form is not good yet so his prologue is not really good. He finishes 72th place with 37” behind the winner.
Wilco Kelderman: Wilco is here to assist our leader, Sanchez. He is a good timetrialist, but not a great prologue rider. It’s still a decent time for him. He finishes 30th place with 23” behind the winner.
Lieuwe Westra: Lieuwe is our silent warrior this race. He’s good enough to win Paris-Nice and he will be protected aswell. Whenever we need to change tactics he’ll be there. He’s a great timetrialist and he does very well today. He finishes in 3rd place with 3” behind the winner.
Luis Leon Sanchez: Luis Leon is our leader and thus he needs a good result to start with. That definitely worked out, he got the 2nd place today! With only 1” second behind the winner! Here is Sanchez in his Spanish timetrialling jersey! Made by Aidan, thanks!
Taylor Phinney: Taylor is here to help in the mass sprints and try and win the prologue and assist our leader. The 2nd thing is definitely accomplished! He wins the prologue here in France! His finishing time is: 13’28! A great result for VVV-Venlo Pro Cycling! Taking the 1-2-3 in their first Pro Tour race!
The losers today:
Fabian Cancellara: The big favorite failed today! He finishes 4th with 5 seconds behind Phinney. Not a bad result but not good enough!
Tony Martin: The world champion in timetrialling was expected to be a contender for the win today, but he disappoints his fans getting the 13th place with 12 seconds behind Phinney.
Cadel Evans: Cadel is normally a great prologue rider and timetrialler, but today he did not prove that. He takes the 26th place with 21 seconds behind Phinney!
Comment from Abdoujaparov: “I’m…. speechless, sorry!”

Excellent start of Paris - Nice.
But be careful, it's not easy defending a jersey to those kind of riders! |

Paris-Nice sprinting stages:
We had high hopes for our sprinters, but on stage 3 and 4 the hills on the end of the race were too much for our sprinters. It's really frustrating, they just can't keep up with the pace. I don't know how to keep them in the front of the peloton. They keep falling back. Unfortunately we have only managed to get a 6th place with Kruopis, in stage 2. We hope we will do better in the upcoming hilly stages. Furthermore there is not much to say about the sprint stages, so I won’t report on them. We did manage to take the KOTM-jersey with Levarlet and we will try to defend it!

I'm sure you can defend that jersey, Levarlet is a decent climber. |

Paris Nice:
Disappointing Paris-Nice for the team... We came here with high expectations, but the end result is a 28th place for Luis Leon. However, we won the prologue with a 1-2-3 and got some decent sprinting results. Here is the final GC: (I want to start fresh after the break and I don’t remember the races anymore). To make things worse, we lost the KOTM jersey by a margin of 2 points… This is extremely disappointing. But we will be back stronger!

Tour of Taiwan:
This tour is not important enough for the team to report about. I want to keep the story at a good pace. Here are the daily result and the GC:
Stage 1:
