Well, Chris Anker came first over the first 3rd category mountain.

Eurosport go live in 30 minutes.
Incident on the course stopped the race for a while. It was between a police motorbike and a car

Sanchez took that win very well.
An exciting final KM but Sanchez sitting up and celebrating losing a few seconds. d'oh.

Great win for Samu, great late attack, and first win for Euskaltel.
And he got that precious gap, so he pretty much secures 2nd in GC.

It shouldn't matter at this point. I doubt that he'll be challenged tomorrow.
The big battle is for 3rd. It's pathetic that it will come down to which pure climber will outsprint the other in one of the most mountainous stage races of the year. Gimme a break. This race has stunk since stage 3's finish was cancelled.
On another note, why did anyone let Sanchez go? It was like no one wanted to chase because they wanted to save for the sprint. The main teams were extremely stupid to not respond to such an outstanding rider with explosiveness on both the mountains and flats. Now they have to regret it. I would have looked for a Uran or Cunego to counter, but Sanchez just rode away.
Tomorrow is kinda interesting with the last climb summiting closer to the finish, but I think the GC is decided, especially about Albasini- since 3 days ago.

That. But mountainous ? Don't kid yourselves, there was one mountainous stage and rest of them were wannabe ones, not too hard to create big splits.
Exactly. Garmin/Lotto just let him go, although he was very strong, tbh no team would bring him today except Sky if they had Wiggo here, but they don't .
GC is indeed decided, profile as always over exaggerated, not as tough as it looks. Another sprint finish between Uran/Sanchez.

Simon wins the stage again. Alabsini wins the overall.
I thought I'd never say that about this race, but thank god this utter shite/joke race is finally over. The only enjoyable part of this race was the crazy descending at the end of the stages, other than that...

Montserrat might not be the Zoncolan, but it's enough of a climb to drop a guy like Albasini. Of course, for that you have to actually put an effort and properly attack, but it just didn't happen.
Pretty easy for Simon today.

This is too harsh imo. The prganization has been terrible, having no alternative for the Port Ainé stage, and with the utter joke of giving all the same time in that stage, but there's been better racing here than in P-N.

Strange race and results..
They should think over about stages for next year.
Still it takes nothing away from Greenedge super start for season. they remainding me HTC team. You do not need starlist to be succesful (Nissan-Trek)..you have to smarter then that. |

I sort of enjoyed this race, yeah some of the decisions by the organisers were a bit questionable. But that's the same in quite a few races right?
Albasini did well to hold on to the GC at some points, so saying he didn't deserve it is quite unjust imo.

He did do quite well to hold on to the jersey, but if the 3rd stage summit finish had happened, he wouldn't have had anything to hold on to.

What a joke this race was, i would rather watch Tour of Beijing than race with all the downhill finishes and stupid organisers
