@FreitasPCM
Do not know, but in my PCM, Gerdemann always managed to get a few win in a saison. Not realistic, but nice
@Smowz
Yeah, Intxausti seems to be in a great shape after Paris-Nice, and Gerdemann also not bad. It will be an interesting stage race although there is no really big gun in the field.
23. March
My birthday . I hope it will be a good sign for today.
A typical bunch sprint stage, the only challenge today is the Alt des Àngels, far away from the finish. If not a strong breakaway make it, we will see a masssprint.
Team goals:
- Top 10 (Impey)
- No time loss (Horner, Zubeldia, Popovych, Paulinho)
Favourites: Mirco Lorenzetto, Graeme Brown, Juan José Haedo, Yauheni Hutarovich, Ben Swift. My tip: I think Graeme Brown, but I do not know sure.
Lot of attacks at the first kilometers, but after seeing that Kessiakoff want also go away, we decide to force the pace in the peloton.
Kristjan Koren (Liquigas) 3
Aleksejs Saramotins (Colombia) 2
Thomas Peterson (Garmin) 1
But after caughting them two times (Kessiakoff attacked hard), we let the other go. The single garmin one in front is Kessiakoff, probably he hoped that he can reach the break and try another attack.
Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma) 16
Aleksejs Saramotins (Colombia) 12
Matteo Tosatto (QuickStep) 10
Daniel Oss (Liquigas) 8
Fredrik Kessiakoff (Garmin) 6 José Luis Rubiera (RadioShack) 4
Chris Horner (RadioShack) 3
Haimar Zubeldia (RadioShack) 2
Yaroslav Popovych (RadioShack) 1
The breakaway as they had their biggest gap today. Short after that, the pack started to accelerate.
Francaise des Jeux seems to be confident about Hutarovich win chances today, they worked hard today. Milram (for Gerdemann) and Rabobank (for Brown) joined them.
We reached already Banyoles, there we have the second intermediate sprint today. Now a circuit in the city.
Aleksejs Saramotins (Colombia) 3
Daniel Oss (Liquigas) 2
Matteo Tosatto (QuickStep) 1
Seeing Cervélo, Sky, SaxoBank, Omega Pharma (against their own man in the break) and AG2R forcing the pace in the Peloton.
The pack in the back, Kaisen, Oss and Tosatto tried an last attack. Obviosly with no chance. Impey, our sprinter in the peloton, had the backwheel from Michele Merlo, both were well positioned.
AND MASSCRASH IN THE PELOTON! One of the pusher in the front falled, and then it happends to fast. Just one man from RadioShack down, and guess... Daryl Impey, our only sprinter who was good positioned and had good chances for a Top10
But most of the topfavourites are here, Sulzberger from FDJ left, Hutarovich will follow him, at the right Galdos, Downing, Ljungblad and Graeme Brown. The crasher were back at the peloton, but it seems that there are no time gaps.
4 rider have to give up, all of them are injured.
Kirk Carlsen, broken neck, mid April back.
Charles Wegelius, fracture, start may.
Dominik Roels, broken wrist, end april.
Simone Ponzi, fractured kneecap, mid June.
2,2 km to go. The sprint begin. The train right has begin to broke, left still Sulzberger and Hutarovich.
Invisible flame rouge! And it look as it will end in a fight from Galdos, Ljungblad, Downing and Khalilov! Brown, Finetto and Hammond are to far away and are not able to accelerate more. And where is Hutarovich? It seems that FDJ will not get the stage win after their hard work.
Ljungblad and Galdos get slow, now just Downing and Khalilov in front. Who takes it?
Khalilov was not able to accelerate, and Downing was able to hold the high speed and get the stage win!
Vuelta Ciclista a Catalunya Stage 2: La Vall d'en Bas - La Seu d'Urgell, 181,2 km
The third stage here is already the queens stage of this years edition. No mountain finish, but many short hills and after 110km the Alt de Pedraforca and Alt de la Josa del Cadi. This stage could probably decide the whole stage race, though there are still two other hilly stages and the stage to Barcelona.
Team goals:
- Top 5 / Stay in the front group (Popovych)
- Top 15 (Zubeldia)
- Damage limitation (Horner, Paulinho)
Favourites: Daniel Moreno, Yaroslav Popovych, Daniel Navarro, Bradley Wiggins, Jacob Fuglsang My tip: Daniel Navarro was already strong at Paris-Nice, and I do not see why he should fail here.

A disastrous day for Benat Intxausti and Euskaltel. After he should bring water bottles to his teammates and let himself fall back, he lost the contact and did not reach the peloton again.
Especially Jacob Fuglsang and Vladimir Gusev worked hard today.
P; -2'46 Roldan; 4'56" E1.
Riblon, Martens and Lastras really fight for the mountain points. At the Alt de la Josa del Cadi, Lastras win. Despite that, Christophe Riblon will wear the jersey tomorrow.

The first attack in the peloton, from Thomas Rohregger. No chance, Katusha worked still to chase the breakaway, and the austrian did not came away.
P; -2'24" E2; -3'46" E1.
And here the moment Katusha waited for! Vladimir Karpets with a strong attack. Later, Navarro and Popovach attack and reached Karpets, but then Fuglsang push at the front of the peloton, all three get captured.
The last attack before the top come from Zubeldia, Ardila and Moreno. But how you can see, Astana now lead the pack and also these three rider get captured.
Now back to the breakaway. 10000m before the finish and they have a gap from 1'05". Have they a chance to finish before the peloton?
5km before the finish, the break has even build up his advantage to 1'16". One of them will take the stage win here.
And Lastras decide to attack short before the finish, and just Riblon is able to follow him. Was that the deciding move?
12 seconds before Martens and the other. It seems that Lastras is the stage winner!
Lastras is really happy over his win today. Paul Martens also build little gap between the other and Lastras.
The pack came in, but with a residue from just 24 seconds.

Vuelta Ciclista a Catalunya Stage 3: Oliana - Ascó, 206 km
Once yesterdays stage had not really change anything in the overall, we have today another dangerous stage, with the double crossing of the Alt de Paumeres.
Team goals:
-Top 5/Stay in front group (Popovych)
-Stay in front group/damage limitation (Zubeldia, Horner, Paulinho)
Favourites: Ángel Vicioso, Paul Martens, Yaroslav Popovych, Bradley Wiggins, Linus Gerdemann. My tip: Daniel Navarro. He set a strong attack yesterday, maybe he had just bad luck.
Thank you I am also happy that now your story can continue
Depart in Oliana.
The first attacker today came away and build the Break of the day (Arkaitz Durán (Footon), David García Dapena (Xacobeo), Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma), Matteo Tosatto (QuickStep), Bert Grabsch (Colombia), Rémy Di Gregorio (FDJ)).

The break at their maximum lead, about ten minutes.
David García attacked at the top of the Alt de Paumeres and blow the other away.

The pack, about six minutes behind. As you can see, Milram, Katusha and Astana taken the lead at the peloton.
But at Ascó, García, Tosatto, Kaisen and Durán are again together.

The second time on the Alt de Paumeres. In the front group, just García Dapena and Tosatto stayed, the other could not hold their speed. But the pack is still 3 minutes behind, so it seems that one of them should take the stage win.

The peloton at the same place. Yaroslav attacked, just followed by Karpets, but tp late, both did not came away.
So the next attack from Yaroslav, and again just Vladimir who followed. This time, they get a time gap, but Milram caught them later.
Just 5600m before the finish, and these both rider can be sure that nobody can steel them the first two places. But who will win? In the pack, Zubeldia falled back, beeing tired from the mountain.

And here we go! A one-vs-one sprint will decide today's stage. In the overall, there should be no other changes.
Finaly, García Dapena can outsprint Matteo Tosatto and can celebrate his first pro-tour win 2010!
The second group including Popovych and Horner come in, 1'41" back.

Good news for Popovych: Wiggins was not able to hold contact to the peloton and lost time. Also Seeldrayers, Tondo and Kessiakoff (I hope this will not happend at "Garmin 2011 Season" from Roturn) and the Colombia-leaders Rogers and Pinotti lost time.
Really worse get it now for Beñat Intxausti, he started as a favourite here in Catalunya, now he lost another time 20 minutes.

I have to take a look on Russell Downing, he is still fourth after the hardest stages here. If the he take the other sprint stage, he have a good chance to win the hole stage race. Yaroslav sould calculate now on intermediate sprints,, thugh we have another chance to get the leader jersey tomorrow.

Today's stage will be not as hard as the last two, but the last chance to change anything in the overall so we expect many attacker at the Alt de La Figuera.
Team goals:
- Win / Stay in front group (Popovych)
- Stay in front group / Damage limitation (Horner, Zubeldia, Paulinho)
Favourites:Yaroslav Popovych, Linus Gerdemann, Gilberto Simoni, Vasil Kiryienka, Vladimir Karpets. My tip: Vladimir Karpets attacked strong yesterday and with a strong team in the back, he should able to win here.
Here the BOTD at the Coll de Grau, today with Gustavo César Veloso (Xacobeo), David Gutiérrez G. (Footon), Kevin De Weert (QuickStep), José Luis Arrieta (AG2R), Jonas Ljungblad (Omega Pharma), Mikaël Chérel (FDJ), Javier Moreno (Andalucia), Freddy Bichot (Bbox) and Andrey Kashechkin (Lampre).
They are one minute before late-attacker Maciej Bodnar (Liquigas) Michel Kreder (Garmin) and 2'57" before the peloton.

Saxo Bank, Omega Pharma, Milram and Astana worked together to caught the breakaway, which is just 2'27 away now.
The are at the last hill today, "La Figuera", and Yaroslav decided to attack! Unfortunately, he get caught later.
The front group is in sight, and Richie Porte with a strong acceleration! But just like Popovych, he had not a chance, Milram and Omega Pharma chased him down.
Just two rider still in front, Mauricio Ardila and Xavier Tondo. The peloton 43 seconds down, seems that they had not a chance to win.

5km to go, and still a half minute for Ardila and Tondo.
But the peloton reached them with 1500m to go, and then Richie Porte with a surprise attack!
Until 200m before the finish, Porte was in the lead, but then the other reached him and it get a close final. At the end, Pablo Lastras can take his second stage win, during Porte already celebrate the stage win. Just a fourth for him at the end.

He is in a really good position now. Maybe a Top 3 in the stage to Barcelona and a victory on the last stage, and he could get the leader jersey.
Thank you very much

E3 Prijs Vlaanderen - Harelbeke
The E3 Prijs Vlaanderen – Harelbeke (English: E3 Prize Flanders) is an annual cycling race in the Flanders area of Belgium. The race starts and finishes in Harelbeke over 210 kilometres. The event is organised by the Hand in Hand Cycling Club of Harelbeke and is ranked 1.HC on the UCI Continental calendar.
The E3 takes place on a Saturday in mid-March and marks the start of Vlaamse Wielerweek, a week of cycling which continues with the Brabantse Pijl on the Sunday and the Driedaagse van De Panne stage race midweek before the Ronde van Vlaanderen classic on the following Sunday.
Most wins: Rik Van Looy / Tom Boonen 4
The Shack: Our last test before the great cobble classics, and just as, our leader will be Gert Steegmans. He is supported by Vaitkus, Muravyev, Rast, Bewley and Selander. Sebastien Rosseler is free but have also to help if he have to. The Opposition: Not much to say. All big guns are here, Cancellara, Boonen, Flecha, Hushovd, Pozatto, Devolder... Also interesting could be Marc Cavendish, the only really good sprinter here...
Harelbeke - Harelbeke, 200,2 km
A typical cobble classic. Between the last cobbles and the finish are still 20km, so it is not impossible that we see a bunch sprint at the finish.
Team goals:
- Top 10 (Steegmans)
Favourites: Fabian Cancellara, Tom Boonen, Filippo Pozatto, Juan-Antonio Flecha, Stijn Devolder My tip: Stijn Devolder has won the Dwars door Vlaanderen two days ago and is also a good bet here.
Edited by janne_837 on 29-10-2010 21:55
He really deserves the leader shirt. First a good breakaway from him, and now another stage victory... Well, I hope Yaroslav can hold himself there, but he will also try to take intermediate sprints now to get a better position.
Depart in Harelbeke.
And here BOTD, with Svein Tuft (Garmin), Francis Mourey (FDJ), Bauke Mollema (Rabobank), Roman Kireyev (Astana), Wouter Mol (Vacansoleil) and Pascal Hossay (An Post).
At La Houppe, the belgian veteran Staf Scheirlinckx and Hayden Roulsten attacked. Both came away.
Scheirlinckx and Roulsten pass the breakaway quickly.
E1; +21" Hossay; +35" E2; 4'14" P.
The peloton after the Kapelberg. Just 59 rider left, including the top favourites and Steegmans, Vaitkus, Rast and Rosseler from RadioShack. QuickStep took the lead to hunt Roulsten and Scheirlinckx, which are 3'38" in front.
The last helling today, the Knogteberg. And just 27 rider left. Steegmans (THANKS TO THE +5) can hold himself easily in the group.
And Thor Hushovd with a puncture, so close to the finish. It seems that he can say bye to the victory today. Bad luck for the norwegian.
15000m to go for the peloton. Just Steegmans stayed from our team. Another danger: Staf Scheirlinckx is 1'43" in front. Can Boonen, Cancellara etc. still reach him?
And the first attacker here, Johan Van Summeren, Philippe Gilbert, Filippo Pozatto and Tom Boonen. But amazing job by "Spartacus", he chased them all down. Later Flecha with an attack, he had get a little gap.
And here today's hero, even if he will not win. Staf Scheirlinckx still in front, 51" before Flecha, 1'08" before Group Cancellara! Is it the the first victory in his career for the luxury-teammate at Omega Pharma? His best result in his career so far was a 10th in Roubaix.
AND YES! Nobody can steal him the victory now. Flecha is too far away, behind him, Quinziato sprint first in the group, Steegmans took his backwheel and they fight now for the third place (which would be a great success!)
And he can celebrate a deserved win! A great victory for the belgian, who had show now that he can be more than just a helper.
Amazing performance by Gert! After a perfekt sprint, he has saved a third place for us, a great result which I had never expected!

The first Top3 for RadioShack since I changed the difficulty. Of course it was good luck with +5. A perfekt test for Gent-Wevelgem, maybe we can get another Top10 there.
Vuelta Ciclista a Catalunya Stage 5: El Vendrell - Barcelona, 175,1 km
The first easier stage after three hard days, but it is not just a sprint stage. The first half today will be hard, and at the finish an uphillsprint at the Montjuic in Barcelona. A puncheur with good sprint abilities is a good bet today.
Team goals:
- Breakaway / Attack for Intermediate sprints (Popovych)
- No time loss (Horner, Zubeldia, Paulinho)
Favourites: Mirco Lorenzetto, Aitor Galdos, Ángel Vicioso, Russell Downing, Paul Martens. My tip: Ángel Vicioso is a perfekt rider for such a finish.
After really early attacks, Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma), Francisco Javier Aramendia (Euskaltel), Francisco José Pacheco (Xacobeo), Freddy Bichot (Bbox) and Anthony Roux (FDJ) get away and build the BOTD. Kaisen sprinted for the mountain points here.

Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma) 6
Francisco Javier Aramendia (Euskaltel) 4
Francisco José Pacheco (Xacobeo) 2
Freddy Bichot (Bbox) 1
In Vilanova i la Geltrú, the breakaway has already 8'53" against the peloton.
Spoiler
Anthony Roux (FDJ) 3
Francisco José Pacheco (Xacobeo) 2
Olivier Kaisen (Omega Pharma) 1
Kaisen also got the most mountain points at the Alt de la Maladona. The pack now with a residue of almost 10 minutes.

60km to go, and still 10 minutes in front. We can already say now that one of the breakaway will win today.
Spoiler
Francisco Javier Aramendia (Euskaltel) 3
Freddy Bichot (Bbox) 2
Francisco José Pacheco (Xacobeo) 1
And with other 6 points, Olivier Kaisen get the mountain jersey!

And the pack started with 24km to go to accelerate. A bit to late.
Attacks in the front group.
Masscrash in the peloton. Just Jacob Fuglsang fall from the favourites, but no time gaps, but Vidal Celis (Footon) have to give up, he has a broken wrist and will not be able to race until End April.
In the front group, the sprint begin. Who will take the stage win?
And Aramendia can outsprint Pacheco, the other could not hold the speed of them.
The peloton, under the lead from Angel Vicioso, came in, almost 6 minutes back.
