I feel the netherlands deserved this because of their superior tactical understanding of the game (Van Gaal's decisions were superb and really changed the direction of the match) and because of their talented players who were able to cash in on the opportunities they had.
Unfortunate for Mexico though, they could have passed as well (they looked more dangerous for most of the match) but Ochoa's sorcery wasn't enough in the end. The Netherlands are a good bet for the final now imo.

Teehee. Seriously though internet and especially twitter atm is way too annoying. Slagging off Robben for getting fouled. RIP my brain. |

Maybe because he wasn't.
It's really dumb to spread the own oppinion like it is the only acceptable, even though it wasn't a clear foul. RIP your brain. |

If you're really happy about winning, then you really shouldn't give a fuck about internet and twitter

Sickens me. Really does. Yes, they won. Yes, there's nothing I can do about it. Yes, they 'should have had a penalty before, therefore making it a fair game'. But no, 'Mexico park the bus'. Normally, I like Arjen Robben, but diving over at the second chance he gets, therefore sucker punching Mexico, is horrible, no matter how often it happens.
Even El Divo would be turning in his grave.

Robben got a penalty because there was a penalty not because he took a dive, there is clear contact.
Is it the biggest penalty not really but that doesn't matter, rules are rules and 9 out of 10 ,that situation will end with a penalty. |

"Robben took advantage out of it" = jumped in the air like someone shoot him = dived
So, you admit that there was contact and that the move was stupid by Marquez, and we all know that Robben could have still scored a goal or cause an assist in that situation (infamous move-set of his), yet Robben is still a "fucking diver" because he fell to the ground... in a situation where he was fouled, and a step on the foot that would have made any player fall to the ground in any situation of any match.
If you wanna complain about the penalty, at least use the usual excuse of a stupid referee that decided the game, like it's common standard by now. But don't try to make a Fred out of Robben.
Don't really see any solid statement your last sentence by the way, it's just another exaggeration on your half to make your claim sound valid.

Mexico's biggest mistkae is their coach. He went to play defensive football after the 1-0. While they were the better side before. That ultimately cost them the game. |

There was more contact there than many other penalties given in this World Cup, eg. Fred vs Croatia and Costa vs Netherlands.

Don't think the Netherlands deserved this, but the anti-football strikes again.
(BTW, I wrote this exact same text on Facebook, and I already got 3 nationalistic 'friends' hating on me. This anti-Netherlands thing is getting a bit uncomfortable, but I'll stick with it anyway )

"Fucking diver" was not only because of that move, but because of all dives and moves he made in his past. He wasn't fouled - not every contact is a foul, especially not ones in 16. And who knows will he make an assist or score in that situation, you seem to forget that Ochoa is (was) a superior goalkeeper this World Cup.
Well, the situation when Vlaar (or another Holland's defender, I don't remember correctly) kicked the ball and head of Mexico's attacker could've been a penalty, too. However, the first situation when Robben fell in 16 was even more penalty (more than both situations), so referee excuse can't be used here.
It's not an exaggeration, Shonak. It was like that. He jumped in air like he was shoot and that's (more or less) why I said he was a diver. Not feel like this discussion has any end where we can both agree, so the best thing at this point is to agree that we disagree.

Stepping on the opponents foot is always a penalty no matter if you jump into space after the contact.

Anti-football? What is the most scoring side so far in this WC anti in? i guess if you don't like Holland it must be a pain seeing them win again and again.
And of course The Netherlands deserved the win, they never quit and despite the heat they got the upper hand and use their speed to draw Mexico into situations like we saw.
Also even if Robben made the last penalty seem dramatic, there is contact, He was fouled and there is a penalty. |
