I wonder if the TT was the full length, if Rodriguez could have kept the jersey because he finished so strongly.
Does it really matter ?
Hesjedal would have paced himself slightly differently then obviously. Well done Ryder, best guy won.
Well, 2 kilometers isn't a huge difference, so I don't know, he would have kept going a steady pace as he was. Rodriguez would have had slightly longer to gain time on Hesjedal. I don't think he would have won, but it would have been closer.

Eden95, Rodriguez never gained time on Hesjedal. He only lost more
The difference at split 2 was 13 seconds in the virtual GC
At the finish it was 3 seconds more
So in all parts he lost time. |

Gained time doesn't sound right, I ment Hesjedal had about 24 seconds maximum advantage a little bit after the second checkpoint (in the GC, so 1 minute or so in the stage) and Rodriguez got it down to 16 seconds, gaining 8 seconds he had previously lost. He really had no chance of winning, I ment it as in he got back a small amount of time he had already lost.

So who did predict this podum?
I think before the Giro I had
1 Rujano (LOL)
2 Basso (LOL)
3 Scarponi (close)
I didn't predict a specific podium, but I put some money on Rujano for the win. I also thought Basso would be close, and my strong faith in Pozzovivo was reinforced after Giau. I should definitely not start as a fortune teller.
Is this the most surprising GT podium of the millenium?

I think the 2011 Vuelta beats this. Although calling the 2011 Vuelta a GT might be pushing it too far.

I really should have put the money on Hesjedal. What were his odds again. I could ahve crushed. But no, I had to not bet do to my mental strenght of having realistic ambitios.

Excuse me? Win the Vuelta? Against Contador, Cobo and Rodriguez? Seriously?

Don't you remember Rodriguez fail last year Don't forget Froome
Contador will win Vuelta with minutes though anyway.

Yeah, if there's one thing this Giro proves, then it's that the favorites don't always win. Who would've expected Hesjendal to win, Rodriguez to be second and De Gendt third? No sign of Scarponi or Basso on the podium! |
