Boom led for much of the final kilometre followed by Bos, Renshaw and Cavendish, and once Renshaw launched into the lead, it was easy for Cav. It seems like Boom is thinking of targeting the overall win here though, he picked up a bonus second at an intermediate sprint - but this year does seem like the best chance yet of there being a British winner.

There aren`t many races, where he is the team`s leader. So really a shame. Always like his kind of racing, when being their leader as often shown in the Criterium International or last years? Paris Nice.
Nice win for Boom. He has a good chance of winning the ToB. His form seems to be good, so he could get a good result in the WC.

I was at an early intermediate sprint, and towards the top of the uphill sprint at 50 metres to go. Plenty of photos to be sorted and uploaded now!
Sky got 6 in the split, then Alex Dowsett attacked in the closing stages. His lead peaked at about 20 seconds, and HTC had to sacrifice the two they had with Cavendish, Eisel and Bak.
Dowsett got caught though and Rabobank capitalised, Boom really powered up towards the finish, with Matthews sat on his wheel happy for 2nd.

"With 200 metres to go I managed to jump over (Steve) Cummings and (Geraint) Thomas and then the corners started so they couldn't pass us anymore. My first aim was to pull for Michael (Matthews) and then I felt good so I am happy to win.
"We knew that you can't bring HTC and Cavendish or the Sky boys to the finish. We knew we would have to surprise them, and we managed to do that.
"I know that it is always tricky with the wind when you are in England. I saw the Sky guys move up to the front and there was point that there was a lot of wind. It was a good point to go and we managed to get away.
