Double Feature | THE END
Ian Butler
Daggen - Indeed he is Pfft

Stromeon - Hope so, too! He's in 99 form at the moment, so hoping it lasts as long as possible!

Jakstar22 - Who would've thought that Argos could be leading the Giro? Pfft Thanks!

maxime86 - I might try it again, though the variant would only be included in the next season, right?

Today I might do another race, but later. I've got 4 hours of cycling to do first!

Stijn: Despite the final hill, it's expected to end in a sprint finish. Though I'll try to keep at the front, because sprinters will be dropped! I hope to sprint for a podium place.

Willy: I might try to force something today, depending on my legs. Since my comeback, I've been thinking about developing my punch-skills. Here would be a great chance to test them!

The Race

Willy Wouters

Jan Ghyselinck managed to get in the breakaway today and would seize the mountain jersey! Let's hope he can keep it to the end!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal302_zpsdbe046d2.jpg

At the not-so-steep start of the final hill, I decided to drop a bomb. I was surprised to see an impressive counter. Andy Schleck, Bradley Wiggins, Alberto Contador... All of them were on my wheel directly. They certainly haven't forgotten me yet.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal303_zps8bc2abe2.jpg

Half the favorites followed my wheel, but the other half was surprised. Over the top we had a minor gap.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal304_zpsa61b6c01.jpg

But Nibali, the skilled downhill-rider he is, reeled us back in. I placed a subtle acceleration from the saddle.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal306_zps74e256ff.jpg

The was hesitation, but I never gained more than 250 meters. It would be close, that's for sure!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal307_zpsa1c7aa5f.jpg

Only 30 meters left to go, maybe less, I saw the first of the sprinters pass me by. So close!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal310_zps0ef54408.jpg

Stijn Van Gent

All good and well that Willy decided to test his legs, but I was the one feeling the consequences! The pace was tough and I really dragged myself up that hill!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal305_zpse0e14525.jpg

I used the descend to gain more places and get back at the front. Wily was still out there somewhere at the time we started the sprint.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal308_zps048360d4.jpg

I had better legs than yesterday and turning the corner I saw Willy, he wasn't going to make it... Goss was like a powerhouse!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal309_zpsca01e0f4.jpg

Goss was unstoppable and won. I manage to pass Willy, too. Both of us on the same podium, how nice is that?

Aftermath

It was a hard race for everyone today. Tomorrow is one more final flat stage before the time trial. Willy will use tomorrow to recuperate. He dropped quite a bomb today. Stijn finished with a satisfying sprint finish. Who knows what tomorrow will bring?
See you then,
Stijn & Willy

maxime86
No my variant is not in the stage DB, you can just dowoad it from my Stages thread and I would send Willy into a break on the first mountain stage at big bear lake (because I was there at the finish in real-life)

and Jouquim Rodriquez looks unstoppable at the giro!

That was a very nice result for both Willy and Stijn Grin

Ian Butler
maxime86 - Okay thanks Wink

Jesleyh - I don't think so. Not on the same podium anyway (maybe Points & Mountain together though I'm not sure about that either).

tovhol - Thanks!

sutty68 - One place higher up would've been better, but it's nice seeing them on the same podium Wink

How is everyone finding the new lay-out?

Stijn: A "flat" race can't really be said. But a sprint finish is expected. I might sprint for the win today! I'm getting better every day.

Willy: Recuperation for me today. Keep up but don't waste energy.

The Race

Willy Wouters

The day almost started dramatically when Jan Ghyselinck was nearly hit by the organization's car. Because he got angry at them he received a penalty of one minute. But he got a lot of mountain points so it doesn't really matter.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal402_zps5ee5adec.jpg

As the DS present here remarked, for a time trialist I'm not riding around with the most aerodynamic position on my bike. I guess I'm more an ape-climber than a time trialist after all.

Today was a beautiful day. The scenery was perfect for making it a great day!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal403_zps8d8395f2.jpg

For the sprint I got presented two trains. I chose the Sky-train.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal405_zps5eed3665.jpg

Well, that was a wrong decision. The sprint was already over before it started. Goss with ease!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal406_zps48e40bfc.jpg

I came up to him pretty fast in the end there!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/cal407_zpsb120400a.jpg

But once again I stranded on a second place. Oh well, what can I do? In the end, it's not easy sprinting without a sprint train, and he's got the best one here!

Aftermath

Very disappointing day for Willy here today... Dreaming of once winning the WC TT is really out of reach at the moment. However, it was quite flat and he didn't have super legs. But still, disappointing.

Silver lining? Willy grabs the youth jersey and moves up big time on the GC. Can still compete for top 10, we reckon.

Spoiler
I've asked before but because of these last two big posts maybe you missed it. I was just wondering how everyone was liking the new lay-out? Is it better or not? Any feedback is much appreciated!

I like the layout. Very solid Wink Also, I'm glad that you changed your mind and brought Willy back. I'm sure you had your reasons but I think it's better that way.

Jesleyh
Layout seems good Wink
And Willy is doing good. No race days, and probably bad form, and still 12th in the GC.
Stijn has some solid sprinting as well Wink

What the hell? Willy, I mean Goat is back and you're already going with Tour of California???? How long have I been gone... Feels like years! But I hope you'll get at least one stage win here Wink

The guys seem to be enjoying themselves in America Smile

And the layout is really good too Smile

Nice TT.

And the new layout is great

cunego59 - Glad you like the return Wink I also think it's better this way, but at the time I didn't think so!

Jesleyh - Thanks. Both are performing quite well, seeing how their forms where only like 60 at the start!

rogvi97 - Had a good day today. A stage win would be nice, but the chances are running out!

baseballlover312 - I don't know, Californian Road is the ingame name of the race. Maybe I should've just written: Tour of California. But I'll be consistent now and keep it the way it is. I'll call it different next time.

sutty68 - They sure are. Thanks mate Wink

Jakstar22 - Really hopes for a top 10, though, but I guess it wasn't that bad!

Thanks for all the feedback! My book (for school) still hasn't arrived to I'm free this weekend. I'll probably do some racing today.

Hoping Stijn can finish with a win and the point jersey!
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
