I agree, how could Wiggins be overpaid, he won (almost) every race he participated in, what more can Sky want from him? |

Surely the most successful rider of the year is not overpaid?
I worded that wrongly indeed.
What I meant is that Wiggins is the only sky rider that will be with Sky in 2013 that's getting the big money ( new deal at 2.7£ million ). With Cav leaving, Wiggins is only rider at Sky over the 2 Million bracket.
Meaning Sky isn't overpaying any riders significantly, as only Wiggins is getting the 'big money'.

Not that I imagine many people care, but here is the news on Landbouwkrediet for next year:
First off, Lanbouwkrediet took over the bank Centea and as such have changed their name to Crelan. As such the team will be called Crelan next year... which is about a billion time easier to spell.
The following riders have been previously announced as renewing: Frédéric Amorison, Jonathan Breyne, Koen Barbé, Joeri Bueken, Sébastien Delfosse, Sven Nys and Sven Vanthourenhout
In addition Matti Helminen no longer has a contract with the team.
Today they announced three more riders would be extending:
Baptiste Planckaert
Kurt Hovelijnck
Joeri Stallaert
https://www.landbo...et-euphony
So their strongest young riders are staying on for next year. I wouldn't be surprised if De Waele retires and Amorison takes over leadership duties next year (he has had a really strong season with several good wins).

Jon Aberasturi (Orbea) and G. Bravo (Caja Rural) sign for Esukaltel.
Rumours: Velasco and Txurruka- without team |

Amets (Txurruka) is such a warrior... and Ivan has done a very good job... but the team need points... and there are people asking not to hire non basque or non developed in basque teams riders.
The two 23s will be good signs for the team. |

I would be shocked if Sky didn't have the highest payroll, and if they aren't first it's because BMC just outreaches them. And I should have included OMQS in my list as well. It isn't just payroll and riders though. They roll around in jags and tricked out buses. Build custom wheelsets for their riders (which most teams are scared to do, because they don't want to piss off their sponsors, Sky just doesn't give a shit if Shimano gets pissed), and spend insane amounts on nutrition and testing, which other teams can't even begin to keep up with. I also didn't say it was fair. Their complete and utter domination of the Tour, in such an extremely formulaic and boring way, is part of it as well. They just make cycling less fun.
EDIT: Should say they make stage races less fun. They don't effect classics (which are better to begin with) in any way.

Fuck, I love Txurruka. On a quality team, he'd be great pickup. He's a valuable climbing domestique, but his main positive is something Euskatel never used him for, those "put him up the road and let the team leader ride up to him" that are coming into vogue. Is there a better rider for that in the world that Txurruka???

Also apparently not just because of points but because he has broken his collarbone quite a few times over the last 2/3 years, although with the tragic news about Cabedo they may look to keep Txurruka/Velasco now? |

Nothing massive, but Francesco Reda rejoins Androni from Acqua Sapone.
Think Txurruka and Velasco would be good signings for most teams, but expect it'll be a Spanish team, they'd be good at Caja Rural, if the team has any more space in their roster. |

If true, then Astana will have a super team. But don't get too excited... We all know what happened to RSNT and BMC this year with their Super Rosters. |

Txurruka will be back. Velasco is a strong climbing domestique - something for a team like Sky/Saxo??
And Aberasturi and Bravo are crappy riders.. |
