Couldn't agree more. Literally everyone would've done that. What I find way more outrageous was Henry against Ireland in the playoffs or the Hand of God, because they weren't a reflex, like in Suarez case, but a conscious decision to disobey the rules. The most important difference however is that they got away with it, whilst Suarez was sent off.

Yes because he robbed Ghana from qualifying for the next round. Everyone would have done the same? Might be, but that doesn't make it right. Should I dislike him because he bite someone? Well as long as he didnt take the arm I really don't care. He robbed a nation and all their fans from making history (would have been the furthest any African team ever would have made in the WC). Yes that's why I dislike him.
Ivanovic or Chiellini didn't lose anything. But Ghana did.

Except for the fact that Suarez was penalised and Ghana were still given the penalty. An easy chance to win the game that Gyan decided he'd try to hit a fan in row Z with.
I hate Suarez as much as anyone but he did nothing wrong there. Not to mention that it was a reflex action and he couldn't possibly think in that time. Especially when you consider how stupid he is anyway.

@jacobjc88
Well, he was sent off for that and Ghana got a penalty afterwards, so I can't see a single problem with it. Everyone would do it, at that point. Gyan had his chance to get Ghana to semi-finals and he wasted it - his problem.
Ivanovic or Chiellini didn't lose anything.
Oh my God... Let's bite each other, you won't lose anything. I promise!

"Suarez got a red card + Ghana was given a penalty"
True. But still doesn't justify it, since they missed.
He robbed them off a goal (would clearly have been a goal). Instead of a goal they got a red card + penalty (which they missed), this doesn't seem like a fair deal.
If Suarez just would have showed a bit of sportsmanship / fair play (which Fifa prays about all the freaking time), he wouldn't have torn down the hope of a nation. I know you don't think I got a case, but I believe I have. I can't forgive the man for what he did back then. I can't.
He might have bitten 2 guys, but those are "just" physical wounds (no matter how fucking stupid this sounds). He didn't rob them off a goal / semi final. He just bit them, not that this is fair / sportsmanshiplike, not at all. He deserved punishment, which he had.
The losses the victims received after being bitten were far lesser than being robbed a semi final in the WC. If you can't agree on that something is wrong with you <.<

Well, if someone breaks someones leg on the pitch what should be done then? should they amputate the guy who made the tackle instead of giving him a red?
And yes, i realise i took it too far, but seriously... Suarez did something that every other footballer would have done in his shoes, sucks for Ghana that Gyan missed but that wasn't Suarez fault.

@jacobjc88: I don't know what type of sportsmanship you are talking about, but as far as I know part of sportsmanship is doing everything in your ability to help your team win. Face it, the rules clearly state the consequence of such an action, and Suarez made an instant decision to take the red and hope for a miss/save. So you are saying that just because Ghana have created such an opportunity, Uruguay don't deserve to do anything to win anymore?
And I don't think I agree with using the end to justify the means, that's like saying
Suarez chomped my shoulder and I'm okay to play in the next match, therefore he is suspended for 9 matches; vs
Suarez chomped my shoulder and in another universe I can't play for a while, therefore he is suspended for 29 matches??
Or, let me give you another example. On a corner kick, if you are the player standing on the near post, and the ball is about to go in right by you, do you think, "Shit, this is a good header, I better let him get this goal or else I "rob" their country because clearly their country deserves it more than mine"??
And you talk about fair deals. I really don't hope I have to be in a time and age where every sport I watch is up to what's fair instead of chance, any given day. Gyan might have made that in 10 parallel universes more times than not, but the deal cuts off at the fact that he is given that chance. Whatever happens from then on is not what Suarez can control.
Since I know you watch American Football, I'll draw the gray line between trying to win and unsportsmanlike behavior. Recall when Mike Tomlin stepped onto the playing field (sorry for talking about handegg here, kill me) and stopped a clear kickoff return, that's an example of not being a sportsman. Why? Because the game is designed for the players on the field to do whatever is in their ability to play the game independent of outside factors. Why is Suarez's situation different? Because such a circumstance is clearly defined in the rules, (scoring chance + inside the box = red + penalty) which means that he made a conscious evaluation of the tradeoff and did what the game of football gives him. And why do I say it's fair? Because FIFA defines the deal at the point in which the penalty is taken, regardless of the result. And what would you propose anyways? For Gyan to take it until he makes it, so that Uruguay is FORCED to lose?
Winning isn't everything, but you always give it all you've got and I'm sure the vast majority would do the same. You may argue that what most do isn't necessarily right, but I remind you in society the majority defines righteousness.
And isn't it a bit foolish to to let the foot of Gyan determine your hate for a player?
And I don't see the point of your last sentence. That's like saying, if you don't vote for Obama then something is wrong with you. C'mon, I ask that you leave just 1% of your mind open!

You're wrong, missed tackles happen, so do leg breskers. Biting someone not once not twice but three times is too much. |

Where did he say anything about biting.
But still taking the action of a professional footballer is his least problem.

Really? Fantastic side, but hardly a surprise- they beat Uruguay 4-0 in qualifying.

Some dutchie who actually watch Eredivisie can correct me if im wrong but Cillijsen is suppose to be really good with the ball at his feet aswell from what i've read... Stekelenburg isn't
Don't get why he benched Janmaat for Verhaeg, Verhaeg looks really really average.
