EPIC - Season 1 Part 2
Stromeon
Rogers actually did something (sort of...) Shock

Contador keeps raking the points in, shame that he finished second but he was always going to lose time to Porte in the TT after failing to distance him in the mountain stage. Nevertheless a good race, curious to see where we are in the rankings (when they are released) after a good spate of results recently.

D'oh, knockout and brewerskeep raising each other in the worst luck compettiion. Nice win for Caja Ruaral though!

This

But unlike Brewers the bad luck strike series just started for us while BMC does not know the bright side of life Pfft

Top Ten for Dowsett is okay.

As I said ages ago, we had an awesome GC and still failed the goal.. how else should it have come? Wink

That was some afternoon for RadioShack with two of our goals achieved:

No, you shouldn't be happy at all, The Rider.
Wasn't it a big goal for Horner to win this one? Grin

Bikex
Hello at the third stage of the Baloise Belgium Tour. We are here in the city of Beveren, today is a 15 kilometres long timetrial which is panflat. 53 riders finished within the first group on both days and are at a maximum only 20 seconds behind the leader Geraint Thomas in the General classification.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/BelgiumStage03_zpsf65044f3.jpg

Now we are live Christian Schröder, GC number 25, is in the starting house, this morning it was Julien Vermote who set the quickest time in 20'08''. He won't be a threat for the overall though as he lost yesterday more than three minutes.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0301_zps5b733aaa.jpg

So far the best of the riders that is withtin the 20 seconds was Stef Clement of Belkin who is only 12 seconds short of Vermote. 39 riders have to reach the finish still.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0302_zpsd9a53992.jpg

One of them is Tom Boonen, he was fourth at the time check, now fifth as Kristjan Koren undertook him. Tommeke was one of the major disappointments this Belgium Tour, now he tries to make up for that. He had already lost ten seconds on Vermote and has now less than four kilometres less until we are in the finish.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0303_zpsf9e4aff1.jpg

Let's get to Ian Stannard, he just set a great time at the time check, he is third and only eigth seconds slower than Vermote, only three than Clement.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0304_zps2b6c6284.jpg

Boonen reaches the finish, he gets provisional fourth with a time of 20'31''. In the GC he is provisional second, behind Stef Clement.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0305_zpsa32def9a.jpg

Belgian time trial champion Kristof Vandewalle sets a new best time at the time check, he is on the same time as Julien Vermote. At the same moment Kristjan Koren reaches the finish, he is 20 seconds slower than Vermote and has pushed Taaramäe from the provisional podium.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0306_zps50eca65b.jpg

Timetrial specialist Ion Izagirre sets of, he is provisional 17th and we can expect him to do good today.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0307_zps2729114a.jpg

Ian Stannard almost overtook Gerard just before the finish line. He is even faster than Koren, by one second. Provisional third.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0308_zps9ab4e4de.jpg

Vandewalle knows it will be close and puts everything into the last metres, can he be faster than Vermote? He can, 20'07'' his time.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0309_zps3c308a1f.jpg

Also on the road now is road race world champion Philippe Gilbert. Meanwhile Ion Izagirre has scored the fifth best split time, 9'16'' only 9 seconds behind Vandewalle.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0310_zps936caefa.jpg

Only the top ten is left now, all of them are even less than 20 seconds behind Thomas. Ryan Roth, 10th in the general classification, is the first to start. He needs to limit his loss today.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0311_zpsf20919f6.jpg

Surprisingly Maxime Vantomme sets a great split time for Crelan, he is fourth after seven kilometres, only seven seconds behind.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0312_zpsf23e9558.jpg

An even bigger surprise is Philippe Gilbert's time. He is only one second behind Vandewalle at the time check. Seems like he has planned something for this race.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0313_zps9c8a16ab.jpg

Guillaume Boivin the wearer of the U25 classification has set of, now only two Skymen that have big chances today are left.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0314_zps2c54b480.jpg

Ion Izagirre is in the finish. 20'29'', provisional sixth.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0315_zps2d039afd.jpg

The last man is on the road, what will Geraint Thomas do today? Maxime Vantomme also in the finish now, great day for him, 20'24'' and provisional fourth.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0316_zps0eded588.jpg

Local star Gilbert sprints over the line. He lost something, but certainly not to much considering his punching abilities! Provisional third, 20'11''.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0317_zpse5e0be86.jpg

Boasson Hagen already almost caught Boivin at the time check, he sets a new best time of 9'03'' four seconds faster than Vandewalle and Vermote.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0318_zps5e9d11cc.jpg

Geraint Thomas even underbids that, 9'01'' it seems to become the third stagewin in a row for Sky.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0319_zps30740f9a.jpg

Only the top five not in the finish yet, next one is Greg Van Avermaet. He sets a time he can be proud of, 20'39'' provisional 18th.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0320_zps3d1ed507.jpg

Boasson Hagen now overtook Boivin in the distance there is already Frederic Amorison, there couldn't be much expected of him, he looses more than 1 1/2 minutes on Vandewalle, making him say goodbye to his overall classification ambitions.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0321_zpsf742fec4.jpg

The next one wouldn't be Boivin to cross the line as he was passed by Boasson Hagen he sets a stunning new best time and is the first to be faster than 20 minutes. 19'59''. Boivin gave everything he had but isn't able to do a good time. Only one second faster than Amorison. In the background there is already Geraint Thomas nearing the finish with a big gear.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0322_zpsa940a171.jpg

He is even three seconds faster than Edvald Boasson Hagen and proves that he deserves wearing the red leaders jersey.

i1309.photobucket.com/albums/s635/Bikex/Reports/epicbelgium/Belgium0323_zps23e26b9e.jpg

As expected the GC would look a lot different today than yesterday. Only the top two stays the same. Vandewalle moves into third and Io Izagirre gets to wear the white jersey Boivin had to give up.
