Tommy P did it! What a race, I thought the would catch him so many times, but Jumbo Visma does need a team talk after this.

Unlucky with Wellens and Sheffield, but a win is a win. I'm going to be outscored by the Hussars with their 2-3 though, and they didn't even need Mathieu for that.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Congrats Ollfardh! I wish Pidcock would’ve had these type of results last season.
3 riders in scoring positions is a good result with Pogacar not here
My hope of Benoot sacrificing himself for Valter was quite unrealistic anyways. Only unfortunate aspect is Bettiol’s crash. He looked quite good before. I hope he’s not badly injured.

cunego59
4th and 6th is pretty decent, Rui Costa looks like a good pickup so far. With no one on the starting line for the GP Monsere, that's still not a very high-scoring block though, I think. Hopefully, more riders will start for us next block!

It was close, but it looks like two in a row (for now Pfft ) !

Block 2 results

Bad Italian startlists meant some tough choices for everyone. The biggest victim were the Red Lanterns, missing out on a Samyn win with Milan Menten. A rainy Trofeo Laigueglia went to the undrafted Anthony Perez, making it 3 races without a winner in a row, we did so much better last year.

But after that, we pulverised the Strade Bianchi record by over 300 points! Only Formolo at 9th and Skujins at 17th were not selected, great work everyone! Oh, and I was debating whether or not to give Valter assist points for Benoot, but rules are rules I guess Wink

While the Paladins won the race with Pidcock, the Hussars scored most points with their 2-3 from Madouas and Benoot. The 59'ers and the Red Lanterns also scored well to keep everything close at the top.

Finaly the small GP Monseré had the full top 5 but only the top 5 scoring points. The Paladins got a (controversial) win, 2-3 went to the Fainthearts and 4-5 were for the Nosepickers.

In the rankings this means the double race win puts the Paladins just ahead of the Hussars. The 59'ers are a close 3rd followed by the Red Lanterns. In 5th place it's the Fainthearts in no mans land.

The Nosepickers lead the rest of the pack, missing a big scorer this year. The Hornets had a really nice Romain Gregoire pick but really need Wout van Aert to start racing. The W scored well in Laigueglia, but nowhere else this round. The Grandmas are next, only scoring small points for now. The Cobblers didn't see much Cobbles this round.

The Wolves had very few riders racing and keep on struggling below 100 points. The Tulips leave the last place behing as they were the best scoring team in Le Samyn. This means the Bombers really need another comeback story.

Strade saved us and we remain in a good overall position, which is nice to see. Very impressive block by the Paladins and Hussars. Now, let's hope more of my riders actually do some racing in the next races Pfft

I'm happy to be up in 4th despite my Le Samym fuckup and Pogacar not having started his classics campaign yet.

I'm gonna put a preliminary selection for the next block already, because I'm away this week and don't know whether I'm able to do it at a later point. Very difficult to do it now with only 3 of my riders confirmed for these races so far. For sure some of my Italians will ride Milano - Torino. I'm making sure to pick Menten this time. Grin

12/03/2023 Ronde van Drenthe CT2
15/03/2023 Nokere Koerse CT+
15/03/2023 Milano - Turino CT+
16/03/2023 GP Denain CT1

A small break in classics racing after the first big race in Strade Bianche. Most riders will be busy in Paris - Nice or Tirreno - Adriatico this week, but those who are not will have a chance to prove themselves in Drenthe on sunday. On wednesday we have the double headliner in Nokere and Torino. The GP de Denain is the next day, after which block 4 will follow very soon.

Startlist are ... regionaly problematic. Nokere is as good as complete, the others not so much. I'm expecting improvements as we get closer to next weekend, but Torino was an issue last year. I will need your final startlists by sunday 10:00 am normal europe time again.

5th in block 1, 4th in block 2 - nothing spectacular, but overall clearly better than last year. And we scored more points without De Lie than with him, so maybe "Team De Lie" isn't that accurate in the end.

And we were 4th despite Strade being really disappointing. Clarke was in the Top 10 last year and didn't even score this time, and Rota is alternating Top 10s and DNFs this year. Belbao in 7th is decent, although I'd have hoped for a bit more. Hopefully he'll be even better in the Ardennes. Oh yeah, Higuita indeed raced, but fortunately I don't need to regret not having selected him.

Welsford then got us our first win of the year in Criquielion - too bad the race wasn't on this game's calendar Sad Would've happily swapped it for Samyn Pfft

At least he got another podium the day after in GP Monseré - where we even were the highest scoring team thanks to Ewan taking 2nd. Still not sure whether the organiser of this game did have a call with the race officials or not, though Pfft

I can neither confirm nor deny these rumours Wink

Criquelion just didn't fit in, as much as I wanted to. Putting it in would mean moving Monseré to the next block and then there's just too much time in between races.

I am indeed missing one big name to score a lot like last year, but I think my guys are doing decent in their races. Hofstetter proves to be quite a trustworthy scorer once again, same with Allegaert. Too bad Simmons lost so many places in Strade near the end, a top-5 really seemed to be on the table for quite a while.

Yeah Torino is a joke, gonna downgrade it next year.

I got 4 starters so far, hoping for one or two more in Italy. I should expect some points though.
