Really happy for Pedersen on becoming World Champion , but i was disappointed with the showing from the GB team, you thought that they would have loved those conditions |

Only saw bits of the race due to family obligations but:
- I think Belgium lost their best rider due to a crash, I really had good hopes for Phil after his Vuelta. Losing Evenepoel as well there was sad, but he didn't look that good today. GVA simply not good enough and the rest were just too passive. Never in a winning position, despite those names.
- Mathieu was awesome, than suddenly he stopped being awesome. I've never seen him do it on the road, but I did see it happen in cyclocross a few times like last year's Koppenbergcross. Still a huge shock though, I don't think anyone saw that coming.
- Feeling bad for Trentin, he'll never get a chance like this again. He could probably have played it smarter and waited for Moscon, but he wanted to win like a champ and lost.
- What a win for Mads Petersen, it won't be his last! Next year with Stuyven & Theuns, it could be Trek's year on the cobbles.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Definitely, the weather decided about the winner today.
As Sagan said he was expecting that it will come back together thats why he did not follow the winning move. He then added that those strong national teams were much weaker under these conditions.
GVA said it even before the race started that he does not think that he has a chance under such weather. Its a pity that Gilbert crashed.
I am sorry for Trentin as well. He is not gonna be in a such situation at Worlds again I suppose.
Pederson really nice win. He was the one who coped with rainy conditions the best and thats why he has won.
Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.

It's not only that GVA is a bit weaker than his peak season, he's also way weaker tactically. Sleeping while the decesive attacks go, compared to 2017 and 2016 when he always follow or attacked at the right moment. Pedersen is probably the best stayer I've seen. Goes early and is almost impossible to drop. If i remember correctly he did something similar in tirreno at the stage Fuglsang won in a though circuit. |

Sagan could have had a shot had this gone the expected way - late attack/reduced bunch sprint.
I feel the same way as most have expressed. Gutted for Trentin, but glad for Pedersen. What a surprising winner! Even with his 2nd place at the Ronde this feels quite the odd result.

Love the UK, BBC News this morning the sports section catching up on the weekend events covered 10 different sports and got to an eventful home world championships last and for all of twenty seconds.
After talking about the wonderful rise of Women's Superleague rugby for a few minutes they then totally failed to even mention the women's race...then went on to discuss having a basket on your bike for longer than the road race got...WASTE OF SPACE
