Uagh not exactly what we wanted. Seems like Spilak pushed too much from teh fore offering Taaramae too much rest on his backwheel, could've played air a little bit calmer. Now let's hope he can push it in the Pyrenees...

Another great report, jandal! Definitely think you're way too hard on yourself if you're not happy with that. At least I enjoyed it a lot
Galta back to anonymous riding is honestly perfect on such a stage, if it makes him go aggressive on stage 18, 19 and 20. He also dropped a couple of spots in the GC, which at least makes me hopeful.
Taaramäe finally being the strongest in the mountains, but well saved by Spilak too. Taaramäe has to be the favourite for the overall win seeing the brutal final mountain stages, but there seems to be endless twists and turns in the battle for yellow. Must admit it would be cool and very interesting if Spilak can even gain on Taaramäe on the hilly stage, to make it even more interesting going into stage 18. |

The GC battle in this Tour has been a blast. Spilak and Taaramonster have given us all a spectacular duel. Congrats on the win Heine.
Intxausti coming really well today to snatch 3rd is a good sign. Reis with a good ride as well - too bad he lost so much time already. Tomorrow is going to be another cringe stage for us, but these performances make me hope for a good result when we arrive in Paris.
Another massive write-up from the best bear-fighting reporter around!

This is turning out to be a good battle between the top two here. It is definitely either one's race at this point.
Very pleased with Schelling's performance so far, and he looks to be getting stronger. A top-10 is definitely possible, but at least a top-15 is looking pretty sure.

Very good stage by Rein, great to see! Just need to ride at the same level on the last mountain stages now

Very interesting and exciting battle for the win. Hopefully, the last spot on the podium has already been secured by Sicard
He's been defending well, but I'm nervous. Always seems to have a horrible off-day - and Gesink is there to take advantage of it if it happens. |

That was a bad stage from Dekker, hopefully not having lost too much here. Barguild has passed him, but this was expected at some point anyway.
Wellens though being dangerously close now as well while Keinath, Nibali, Intxausti, Schelling are all within reach.
Was actually hoping to see Boom survive until the end for a chance from the break but wasn`t meant to be and with Zardini having a day off, it wasn`t the best day for my team. |

Good 2nd here by Lecuisinier who finally woke up to do something. Like mentioned in the report, it's a bit discouraging to lose the stage, when we don't gain any real time. Podium is definately not possible, neither is 4th after the blunder of stage 15...
Nevertheless, 2nd on a stage is good after Taaramäe. We can't expect to beat both of Taaramäe and Spilak at once, so to beat one, while neither of the other subtopleaders also does is good.
Also Vasyliv extended his lead in 3rd of the U25 competition, so he might have a shot at landing it. I would like to see him climb to 25th in the GC rather than drop towards 30th though, but I guess we know what is coming in the next mountain stages... Big breakaways without him present will see him drop to 33rd or so in the end.

Massive stage from Rein. Love the way he goes to the front and just drive everyone off his wheel. Hoped to not loose time here, so to gain time is great!
Still, Spilak leads and should be the favorite, but momentum is on my side

Taaramäe continuing to put the pressure on, and this version is the one we're more familiar with, when seeing stage racing. Suspect it will be very difficult for Spilak to cling on to yellow in the Pyrenees. Congratulations on another stage win, Heine!
And also well done to Nerz, as that seems to be the KoM competition done and dusted. Hopefully that won't discourage Galta from having another go at a breakaway on one of the upcoming mountain stages. |

Great to see Flugel on the attack even if it came to nothing in the end.
Another super report jandal, should be an exciting few days watching the big 2 slug it out.

Wow. Haig is becoming worse every day and we still don't join Nerz with his countless breakaways.. Ugly stuff from our whole team here. Now even Dyball outclimbs Haig, who loses a decent GC position.

So close...damn. Would have preferred Gallopin to join the group with his sprint advantage.
But Boom as biggest team legend surely wanted another win here and was so close...not sure if he had been able to win from a sprint only, so it`s nice to see him attack twice to get the advantage of being strongest on the flat.
A pity Braico past him but still nice points from coming in 2nd, which is a much needed stage result seeing the amount of 0 pointers in all the uphill stages due to consistency only.
Congrats Bushwackers. Braico surely being the smartest in the end.
Next chance for Boom then on the Champs Elysees. |

Have been missing our riders in the breaks the last day... A good sprint by Boeckmans though, so at least something positive to take out of it. Looks like he's getting better day by day, so just survive the mountains now and hopefully he can fight for a stage win in Paris.

Nice to see Kastrantas giving it a go. He really isn't the fastest rider, so he should have tried attacking rather than waiting for the sprint, but 4th from him is better than could have been anticipated.
Tzortzakis, however, balls... And he will withdraw before the final stage, so a bit of an anticlimax

We caught a break! On a flat stage though.. Well, at least Dennis managed to get a minor stage result that way. Would rather go for mountain breaks though.

Vesely taking the day off, it seemed, but fun to see Oss try his luck in the sprint then. Also not a big surprise to see the breakaway succeed, considering that fatigue certainly plays a bigger and bigger role for the sprinters now and going forward to Paris.
Thank you for the report, jandal! Though, stage 18 and the final mountain stages is what I suspect everyone is waiting for |
