In OVL terms, Igor Boev was the 3rd best rider available to be drafted and Telia-Brussels Airlines are the team to do it. He finished 21st in the PT GP Moscow last season. |

After being ACC obsessed in round #1, Equinor have now picked up the flat-beast-tastic Suleiman Kangangi from Kenya. Given he is also decent on shorter hills, and has an engine that goes all day, a nice addition; two-thumbs up.

Well, I snaffled my two top picks.
Good job jobbed.

Now we're talking! At last Tinkoff refugee Igor Boev has found a new home at the very last minute after a number of years riding reliably in the PT. If Telia have a good sprinter already in their line-up, this guy could pilot him to many a podium, or if not even step-up in his own right on occasion. Not gonna bring home lots of victories on his own, but a name that surely will crop up in the upper tier of the results throughout the season if that's the road ahead of him.

Fingers crossed he can power the Nizzolo train to glory.

Owain Doull rode for Eddie Stobart for the last couple of seasons. He was released, and improved his skillset over the winter - to a CT domestique kind of level. Sauber Petronas Racing have recognised that, and have signed him up. |

#FreeTomBoonen - this one was cruel, making a pensioner ride professional races.
#FreeAlexRasmussen - the constant floods of tears as he was dropped over every speed bump all season long were heart-breaking to have to watch from the following team cars. Then he made him do yet another season. More cruelty.
Soon it will be
#FreeMarcDeMaar - if we are not careful
Tommeke and Razzie were more than willing the zip up the jersey. Who am I to challenge such legends?
The De Maar retirement press conference in coming soon though, so this will be his last season... or will it?

Word is now reaching your on the ground reporter that Telia are believed to have retained the services of Italian sprinter Giacomo Nizzolo who must have raised a cheer when confirmation of Boev's signing came through given their potential to work together at certain key races this season if managment sees fit to pair the two together at all.
EDIT: Zabel's by his own managers simultaneous press conference!

What do you get when Nizzolo, Frengsted Berger, Boev and Sonnery walk into a bar?
A probably underwhelming sprint train, let's face it.

Dries De Bondt was part of a memorable quartet last transfer season, as Euskaltel splashed the cash late on, on a number of Belgian cobbled domestiques. The ploy did not exactly work out, athough De Bondt was the pick of the bunch, with 26th at the Dutch Food Valley Classic. He is now signed by Delvaux. |

Happy to get De Bondt. We needed more Belgians and he should be able to do a job on the cobbles and on the flats. A shame we can't max him out this season, but he will be a very useful domestique once we do. The good fighter stat is a nice bonus too.

Ahh, De Bondt. Was quite high on my shortlist, too. Good to see him getting picked up, even if he won't get maxed this year. |

Another sacking repreive, this time from within the division! GCN Pro Team showed him the door, but Adel Barbari has now opened it to find Oberfranken. |

Gotta say, absolutely love this whole process. The discussion and factoids for the riders are awesome to follow! Almost wish I could be apart of it! Very cool. Awesome job by the admins putting this together!

Word reaches us that Owain's Dull. What's that, oh sorry, no I'm hearing in my ear now that Welsh track specialist Owain Douill is to be supported in his transition to the road by Sauber Petronas Racing. Sauber normally prefer Austrian or Malaysian riders, so they must have seen something in his skillset that drew their attention. His verstility, yes, we are being told his versatility is what has secured him his contract.
The lads come a long way since being finishing 2nd to his good mate Dan McLay at the British Junior RR Champ (both riding in garish Hargroves Cycles colours), and we wish him well in his future career.
Spoiler I almost ran him down with the team car in those Champs as he chased back on after a short sharp hill that didn't suit his physique (at that time at any rate) as he took crazy risks getting back on, sything through the cars in a panic rather than more sensibly working his way slowly back up. Was an impressive sprint by McLay for the victory I recall, blew the rest of the front group away on the finishing gallop!

This has been a long time coming for Airidas Videika. A stagiare contract for the ill-fated New Balance team in 2016. A higher profile stagiare contract for Evonik-ELKO last year. And now a full time contract with home team DK Žalgiris. |

Your on the ground reporter is now literally lying on the ground. People are gathered round his flailing body. He seems to be softly moaning something. What's he saying?
"I'm so sorry, I just can't keep up, please make it stop. How many more still to go?"

One pick left, and still none of the four 76 hill, or two 77 hill riders have been taken.
There's Jose Mendes with 9 CT wins across 2013-2015, with a Volta al Portugal stage last year too. Gracjan Lejman with four wins in 2014, and one in 2015. Both former winners of the GP Yekaterinburg.
Pengda Jiao has a strong backup mountain stat, Muhamad Adiq Othman had a great acceleration, with Alberigo Passalacqua and Joaquim Silva also available.
And Swisslion Cycling Team have picked one of them... |
