Losing 2 of your 3 loaned out riders in the race on one stage sounds about right for me |

Big stage for the climbers there - with some hard time being put into the more punchy men.
Pluchkin avoids more time loss but Cunego still looks strong if not completely inpregnable. He has seven minutes on the Madrazo climbing machine so no worries there for him and Pluchkin is able to attack his position in pink.
Perhaps the battle for third will be more attritional - Madrazo I should think will be eying that, Trofimov could be starting his trademark slip down the GT rankings perhaps? Certainly the SRB boffins are looking to see if Jose can attack first Ricco's GC position and then perhaps Trofimov though that could be fanciful. We do have to do this with sadly one less rider though Cominelli was an expected abandon if truth be told.
Doesn't really look like we are going to get a stage win from this Giro now after sweep the three GT's last year I think we will be missing that now we have made it a goal.

Has there ever been a worse PT team in any Grand Tour?
GM first follows then totally ignores the next moves. Surely underperforming quite a lot. At least 30th now.
Then also the abandons including Guardini just before only flat stage. hopefully Krieger can show something then.
And Ballan...best ever performance here. |

Look at my team here, I can easily compete with you, can´t I? I still hope, Degenkolb will show something in stages 16&19, though...

This was a nice ride by Rujano, finally. Only if he can repeat it in the next few stages again...

Cunego is just amazing. Congratulations, Rin!
Encouraging fighting from Antón, I just hoped he would forget about the GC after his crash and start chasing breakaways and a stage win.
Thanks for the report, SN. Must say it's great to see the mangame roll at the speed it currently is. |

Sella making me proud now, he show our team colors and dare to attack. Even if he aint strong enough. Top 10 now, and a chanse for further climbing

I've been waiting for something good to happen, but Nibali has been utterly horrible the entire race. I guess I'll have to settle for a finish in the back of the top-10. Good to see us finally going for a breakaway though.
Either way, it's been a great race so far. Thank you for the reports and the awesome pace SN.

Great couple days with some of my developing youngsters attacking and picking up 2 wins. To go along with Denifl doing some steady riding, things are looking better for Wikipedia here.

Wow, a twist I didn't expect. Pluchkin right back into it with this amazing ride. And only 4 domestiques for Cunego left to do all the work to defend the jersey.
Next stages will be exciting that's for sure.
Nice for Rothaus to go into the break finally, Marchante moving up that GC ;D

There goes my hope to see Krieger tomorrow. Shame that both my sprinters are not there for the only pan flat stage.
That said. Still happy that GM finally did what I wanted to do. 24th now. Not to bad but hopefully a bit more possible.
Team down to 3 though is not good |

That was exactly what I wanted from Antón! Superb ride, and it would be nice if he could keep an eye on the mountains classification on the coming mountain stages.
Great ride from Pluchkin and Madrazo, showing how strong they actually are, but I must say what made me smile the most was Alarcon's performance.
It's great to see the tiny climber mixing it with the very best, now looking good for a top 5 in the Giro, hopefully he can keep it up. He might even climb to fourth place. Definitely a great signing if he shows the same stability in his other races (Grand Tours?) this season. Congrats, Smowz!
And thanks for another nice report, SN. Hopefully the race continues to be just as exciting when the riders go back to the mountains/hills.

Worst GT points scoring performances are:
Wikipedia | 27 | Giro 2010 | Wikipedia | 102 | Giro 2011 | Carmeuse Cyclisme | 116 | Giro 2011 | Warner Brothers | 120 | Giro 2011 | Festina - Conec | 125 | Giro 2012 | Wikipedia | 149 | Vuelta 2012 | Carmeuse - Bouygues Telecom | 151 | Giro 2012 | Wikipedia | 172 | Vuelta 2011 | Team B&O | 174 | Vuelta 2010 | Warner Brothers | 179 | Vuelta 2010 | Team B&O | 185 | Giro 2012 | Pro Team Venchi - Sugoi | 189 | Giro 2013 | Auber 93 - Look | 191 | Giro 2011 | Warner Brothers | 202 | Giro 2012 | Pokerstars.com | 203 | Tour 2013 |
Looking at the 2010 Giro, there were only 91 finishers in total. Wikipedia picked a weak 7 man team, and only Pavarin finished the race - he must have picked up some pts in a breakaway along the way.

I guess I will podium then with less than 100 points.
Thanks for that overview. |

I am delighted with the way this race is progressing for Jose, he has the vuelta a espana/ Colombia double to look forward to. Got a feeling the vuelta field may be a bit weaker so who knows what can be achieved there.
Just hope he can hold his form - trofimov is certainly catchable - Rico could be a danger. Interesting that sella seems to be riding side by side with Jose also .
Pretty epic stage once again, this is proving a classic with the GC blown apart there. Cunego certainly looking vulnerable now - a attritional race is stripping teams bare. Think the remaining four domestiques I have should complete with Jose after losing two more guys there.

Someone said to me "Cunego wins for sure" and I always said "Wait until the end"
Might be looking that I was right to make Giro Top 3 goal instead of a win one

Sells keeps getting better. 7th now, though i think it will be hard to get further up, and he could easily loose to those behind.
Too bad Preidler couldn't get in the break, maybe next time
