I hadn't this race in my schedule, but we decided to go to Switzerland to get more racing before Strade Bianche and Tirreno - Adriatico.
Michal Kwiatkowski was our leader once again, and this race should suit him nicely, so we were ready to work for him.
Our first goal was to have a rider in the break and it was going good as Carlos Verona was there.
In the peleton, Trek was very active in the front and made the pace for the big part of the race. The gap was going slowly down, but it was clear that the break has no chance.
With 30 kms to go we almost catch them, so we decided to make the hard pace and try to reduce the group.
We prepared great position for Kwiatko and he attacked right before the top of the hill and was going down so fast. I did my job and was going down without 100% concentration... It was bad fault and I had a crash during the descent...
Luckily I was feeling okay and I was back on my bike quite fast, but with a big gap. So I just heard in the radio that Joaquin Rodriguez came solo to the finish and Michal Kwiatkowski on decent 5th place.
I was very happy when the doctor said I'm OK after the race.
We moved to Italy for Strade Bianche and I wanted to do much better than in Switzerland. Kwiatko was ready to show his strength today so we were ready to work for him once again.
The first kilometres were full of attacks and it took a while to making the break, finally there were 6 riders involved. Europcar and Astana took the control of the pace in peleton and they were keeping the gap about 4'.
With 40 kms to go, we caught the break and Bardet with Spilak were the first from the favourites to attack.
But it was too far from the finish and there were still a lot of riders in the main group. So they hadn't too much chances for success.
They were bac in peleton with 15 kms still to go and it was time for Aru, who attacked.
Kwiatko was feeling good and he decided to go on his own and try to catch Aru in the front as we were 30'' behind him.
I was sitting near to the front of our group and there were not too much kms left.
Under flame rouge we were just seconds behind Kwiatko while Aru was crossing the line.
But Kwiatko kept his 2nd place until the finish just ahead of Diego Ullisi and I crossed the line on 7th place!
