If you were listening to Australian commentary now you would think Gerrans had just won the Tour. It is kind of funny to listen to - plenty of Australians have won stages, get over it guys.
Really great sprint from Gerrans though, that should remind Sagan (or Sagon as Phil calls him) that he is human. Is a pretty big deal seeing it is from the first Aussie World Tour team. Also, think how close they were last year. Lot of pressure and anger released.
Yeah I'd give them that given it's an Aussie winning on an Aussie team for the first time. Plus it's some much needed good press after busgate |

That's what Keenan was claiming last night after it happened. It was really funny listening to the SBS guys trying to spin this in Orica's favour.
As for the first Austalian on an Australian team... meh. The nationality of the team just isn't that important IMO. I can't see it getting more media attention than if it was an Australian on (f.e.) a Belgian team.

Well. It'd rather have seen Sagan taking this than Gerrans, but I guess it's deserved |

On the bus subject, apparently it was the drivers first day which might explain why they were so late getting to the finish in the first place??? Maybe a tip for next year is don't employ a rookie bus driver for the madest 3 weeks in cycling...
Anyway Gerro has had that stage lined up for 3 months according to his coach so way to hit the mark.

Tony Martin really is a Panzerwagon, what a quick recovery. He will help to take yellow tomorrow for Chava or Kwiatkowski

He simply needs these lost minutes to get in a mountain stage attack. Else, the other teams will never let him join a breakaway.

This is not PCM. Pretty sure that we won't see him in any serious attack on TdF , this year.

It was his goal for this TdF, Admir. Him losing minutes today doesn't say anything. I'm not saying that he will achieve his stage-win goal, but him dropping today doesn't mean that that's impossible, simply because he won't care about the GC
And yes, it works in real-life as well, sometimes, not often, but sometimes, PCM is realistic

Just re-watched the sprint. Strong pull from Koren but he made a big mistake not taking the inside on that final turn. Would have been an easy win for Sagan otherwise
But this might actually be good for Sagan. With three very similar stages still to come, his team might get some help from Orica in those.

Gesink has as much chance of doing anything as Cadel in this race! Guy did the Giro (sort of) so that, by this forums own logic, prevents him from doing anything in the Tour

Bunch rode that last climb hard (very short climb so not outrageous numbers but they were clearly going at it):
Stage 3. Col de Marsolino (3.32 km, 8.19 %, 272 m). Pierre Rolland: 8 min 47 sec, 22.68 Kph, VAM 1858 m/h, 6.59 W/kg [DrF]
Stage 3. Col de Marsolino (3.32 km, 8.19 %, 272 m). Maillot Jaune Group: 9 min 06 sec, 21.89 Kph, VAM 1793 m/h, 6.36 W/kg [DrF]

GreenEdge would always help anyway. Their best chance of a win comes from either Gerro or Albasini, so they will definitely work on such stages if they have no-one in the break.
Glad for GreenEdge, after all the drama on 1st stage, it's a great win for the team and Gerro. Kwiatkowski doing great is also nice to see.
Hats off to Bakelants yesterday, great ride, very likeable guy ad after few tough years for him, he deserved that.

wow just watched the stage, the announcers were determined that Sagan won but I was praying that he didn't, and thankfully, he didn't!

Gerrans is the first rider in a very long time to win both a mountain finish and a group sprint in the Tour.
Abdoujaparov is the last one I can think off but I'm not sure his mountain stage win was a mtf

The view from above looked like Sagan lost and when the announcers said he won, I was thinking there was no way that could happen.. I am glad of the result though. I bet on Voeckler, but only $6 so im still content.

Medium mountain with a flat finish
Hinault won the bunch sprint on the Champs Elysees once. Does that count?
