UCPCL World Tour - Cobbles and Catalunya Lists
Bikex
If someone wants to have a thread for the reports he just can copy them out of this thread and put them all together in one thread Wink

Jesleyh
Okay, you've got a point(you might haven't noticed, but I'm easily convinceable Pfft)

Now stop spending your time on writing such a long reply and start with writing the report NOW Grin
Spoiler
Wasn't serious, if that wasn't clearPfft

Tour Down Under - Stage 1
Prospect - Clare

149km from the years start in Prospect right on the outskirts of Adelaide. The race heads north through the landscape before arriving in Clare 149km later. There are two IS's today, the first in Kapunda and the second in Riverton. There is only one categorized climb and that is a 3.
So let's begin the season!

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0001_zpsac4c6f20.jpg

Ready, Set... GO!

149km to go - And as barely half the field is underway we have the first attack of the year. Hammond (ITV) is not waiting around and flies off up the road.

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0002_zps15520023.jpg

First honors to the Brit

147km - And the counters now come. Lead by Van Kiersbulck (TLI) and with Tosatto (ABC), Miyazawa (NAC), Morkov (HAI), Sutherland (CAT) and Bol (IOQ) in pursuit.

138km - SGM and ING work to bring the race together. But as soon as the pace is dropped Grabsch (CCC), Docker (DOM), Hammond (ITV) and Sutton (CAT) are off again. Very quickly they establish a minutes lead.

130km - Its clear now that those 4 are the days break. They race along at a steady 40km/h, with the peloton easing it off behind.

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0003_zps599b516e.jpg

Sun shine and cycling

75km - Its the IS at Kapunda just before halfway. Docker takes to the front early and is swallowed by Hammond and Sutton. With the Brit taking the full points.
Spoiler
1st Hammond (ITV)
2nd Sutton (CAT)
3rd Docker (DOM)

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0004_zpsbef10740.jpg

First time to test the legs

67km - The days KoM sprint. Grabsch is the first to move with 1km to go. But Docker drags past, again too early. Hammand and Grabsch duel it to the line, with the Brit showing some great form to win the points.
Spoiler
1st Hammond (ITV)
2nd Grabsch (CCC)
3rd Docker (DOM)

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0005_zps6571f7a3.jpg

This was a close one

45km - The second IS in Riverton. Sutton steals it from Hammond this time. Their gap is 3'10 over a SGM, ING, PGR lead peloton.
Spoiler
1st Sutton (CAT)
2nd Hammond (ITV)
3rd Docker (DOM)

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0006_zps016377a1.jpg

First real showing by an Aussie

20km - The gap is now down to 1'33 and its not looking good for the break.

15km - The gap is now only 48" and the peloton is pushing on the climb.

11km - Sutton puts in a dig off the front. The rest of the break is caught with SGM in full control now.

10km - Sutton hold 31" but its not going to be enough

8km - Sutton yields and now the Sprint Trains come to the front.

3km - So left side is PGR<PGR<PGR<Appollonio<Haedo. The center is SGM<SGM<SGM<Feillu<Bouhanni<Viviani. The right side is ING<ING<ING<Rojas

i1117.photobucket.com/albums/k587/Average_Man/UCPCL/PCM0008_zps6dcbfca8.jpg

Well this is going to be good

1000m to go - The full sprints are launched simultaneously. Its a mad free-for-all at 70+km/h

600m - Bouhanni (TLI) gets a bike length at the front.

400m - Greipel (SGM) smashes the pedals, as does Goss (PGR) and Veenhoff (ING), making it a three man race for the win.

FINISH - And The Gorilla edges the finish by a length. Veenhoff second by "half a wheel" over Goss. Bouhanni just holds off Haedo and Rojas. Pozzato came from nowhere in 7th, as Appollonio, Feillu and Viviani round out the Top 10.

half a wheel

ha!, good one. you see UCPCL is the future Pfft

but 2nd after the first race, great

Jesleyh
Hmm... Great Wink
A setback for non-Sgl that Greipel enters though, but Veenhof did an amazing job Wink

I'm really impressed by the peloton, cycling for 150km without wheels

Good to see I am not the only one where the wheels are/were missing ingame Grin

TheManxMissile
Should say i am aware of the Wheel's (hence the "" ) that will be changed after the TDU.
There are couple of small other graphical things the tweak, mainly some NC's, as well after this race.
No need to point them out i am aware thanks Smile

It was a fun stage, and the peloton looks amazing with all the new jerseys.
Motorex look so like Astana i kept getting confused Pfft
(some bias here) Lunar's jerseys look the best! (not up for debate in this thread)

Final downhill 10km or so we so fast and hectic. No idea how there wasn't a crash at all, really surprising.
Well deserved win for SGL-Magix who controlled the peloton all day. Close finishes all over the Top10 and beyond which i hope will lead to a close exciting race over the next few days.

Yay we've started Grin

One thing about the reports though, could you give some attention to the custom riders? It's hard to write a report if we don't get any material to work with. Helping in the chase, getting a flat, being in the sprint train, ... Just something I can write about Smile
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Great to see it has started Smile

Seems like there are 3 top sprinters and lots of second tier sprinters Down Under. Will be some interesting results here Smile

6th - not a bad start to the season! My jersey stands out so much from the rest of the peloton Pfft

We have no sprinters, so I guess KoM is good Smile

Motorex looking like Astana...

It's only the colors really, the design is very different. Because of the bright colors my jersey does stand out in the peloton, nice to see.

Anyways, good to see Pippo decided to come out of the blue, looks like he was blocked by Bouhanni though.

By the way Manx, don't you think, when the transfer window opens, it's unfair because you know all riders' potentials?

Jersey: Yes it is just the colors, but its enough to confuse me

I don't get your point... There is no transfer window, and there is not rider potential...

Can't deny i'm extremely pleased that Greipel is able to get us off the mark with a win here! Hopefully we'll pick up several further successes as we head down the line! Grin

8th at the stage win Feillu and Grabsch in the BOTD. Happy man.

fernando97
Well, that wasn't our stage, but we couldn't really expect much more than that. However, tomorrow is going to our day! Simon will show them what he's worth... Smile
