Thank you. If everything goes according to the plan, Gesink should be even greater next season

Spanish talent on the market
There's still no clue of who will be new names riding for the team next season, but there are already some names that know they don't fit our plans for the future. Joining Simon and a few others on the "set to leave" list is Jon Aberasturi.
The Spanish rider is a very talented sprinter who can also time-trial on short distances. He was brought in as a replacement for Michel Kreder and was ready to become the team's sprinter in the next years.
But, after failing to achieve any notable results it's pretty clear that he won't be able to be the lead sprinter for a Pro Tour team. Or, at least, not with good results.
This means that he will be leaving the team in the transfer window and our focus for the sprints will shift towards Wesley Kreder, who will develop into a very good "punchy-sprinter".

Fresh blood
... is not a very good title for a cycling related article. With most of the list of riders that are leaving being public by now, we felt it was time to announce who are the riders that are on Project 1t4i's shortlist for the upcoming transfer window.
No big name will be revealed though as we don't want the transfers to fall through. Most of the riders that have made the shortlist are talented Dutch youngsters. Some shy connection have been already establish, but with the transfer season not officially opened yet, nothing concrete has been decided. Some of the riders are:
Tom Dumoulin. Tom is currently under contract with Puma, but it looks like he doesn't fit their plans for the future so there's a good change he will be looking for a new team in 2014. He is a very good time - trialist and even though we aren't focusing on that discipline any more, he would be a great addition to the team.
Remco Broers. Remco is a rider that can handle the cobblestones very well and could be a great lieutenant for Ramon Sinkeldam, if brought into the team. Sadly for us, he seems to be happy with his current position at Team Bpost, but considering the good relations between the teams after the Cornu - Vanendert deal, nothing is impossible.
Tom Leezer. Not exactly a young rider, but with his amazing abilities of handling pretty much every terrain out there, Tom would be a perfect domestique to have in the team at any time. His situation for the 2014 season is a bit uncertain at the moment, as, according to some rumors, his team might not get the PT license for next year.
Barry Markus. A talented young sprinter that is currently a free agent. If the budget will allow us, there's a good chance that he will be offered a contract with Project 1t4i for the 2014 season.
Adrian Nitu. Just like Barry Markus, he isn't exactly at the top of the list, but if we will have the opportunity, we won't miss the chance to bring another Romanian rider into the team.
Rob Ruijgh. There's no secret that Rob might be leaving Rothaus at the end of the season. We will do our best and try to convince him to join the team as there's no doubt Robert Gesink will want a Dutch mountain domestique when he'll decide to aim for a Grand Tour.
Steven Kruijswijk. Steven is an amazing rider that has been under our attention for quite some time, but no offer was made as he seemed happy at B&O. But with the team almost relegated, he might not want to follow the team's path into the CT. He's not a cheap rider, but if given the chance, we won't hesitate to offer him a contract.

Looking at your list, I feel I may need to re-evaluate some of my targets. I take this to mean Markus will be getting decent stats? |

I don't know. I was just looking at his current stats. That's why I said he as not a top priority

Well 77SP with average stats all round isn't great. Marco Brus is available. |

Not at all. I was expecting Markus to get a stat update. And then Brus came up |

Missed the top 10 in the end
At the middle of the season it looked like that not only we will not be able to finish in the top 10 teams of the Pro Tour, but we are also in danger to relegate from the division.
That changed quite drastically in the second half of the season though, mostly due to Gesink's win in Germany, the perfect ride in the Copenhagen - Malmo TTT and the amazing results from Tour of Tasmania were the team had 2 riders in the top 10 and 4 riders in the top 20.
These results put us into the driving seat for the last place in the top 10 before the final race of the season - Giro di Lombardia. Despite a very a good race from Gesink, who finished sixth, we weren't able to keep the 10th place, with Luis Leon Sanchez and Jelle Vanendert having a rather weak day in Italy. With his excellent second place, the new World Champion, Edvald Boasson Hagen brought Aker the much desired position.
Here are our most important results this season.

When you say out do you mean not renewed or looking to transfer out?

Both. For example, Ten Dam won't be re-signed as he is quite old already, while Aberasturi and Simon will be re-signed and then sold during the transfers.
I'm still thinking about Rosseler and Frohlinger and if they will be attractive for other teams during the transfers.

Frohlinger can be an interesting rider for Karcher-Join in next season, but it will all depend on whether or not it will be a free agent

Jon Aberasturi and Julien Simon would be interesting for Team Festina. Jon because, his good mate Guerao would like him to lead him out in the Vuelta, and Julien Simon of very obvious reasons.
Would you be interested in making deals with a competitor?

We've made deals in the past so no problems there.
As long as you come with the best offer, I have no problem selling them to a fellow PT team

I'll register my interest in Julien Simon as well. He would feel very welcome in our team with our large French contingent.

Aberasturi might be integrated in a possible Dumoulin/DvB deal if there is interest, though it depends on his wage after renewals.
