Think it'll be a battle between Porte and Contador, but I don't care as long as it's exciting racing

I hoped to see a much easier startlist when I decided on my squad but i still hope that Costa will get my top 3 goal here

König an outsider favourite? Great, now my expectations sky-rocket. König!

I don't have any hopes for a good result here, but maybe Caruso will surprise me here. |

Disappointed that Antón/Sánchez can't even make the preview as outsiders...

Some of the reporters (not you Nacho ) need to realise that they have made a commitment. Ollfardh, if you need any races out quickly then just send me the startlists.

Welcome to the world of community gaming. Where sh*t never runs smoothly for extended periods.
That there seems to be some willing people to report, keep that up and there will be no problems.

Shouldn't be an issue. No deadline on that current phase so i'd hope they put reporting (something agreed long before the MFS appeared) above it.

The organizers of the Volta a Catalunya are disappointed to announce that Novo Nordisk will not be starting the race, the team have come down with food poising including the support staff therefore are unable to start the race.
Race report to follow in the next few hours.

Volta a Catalunya - Stage 1
Favourites
Stromberg (GRS)
Mezgec (ARG)
Bennati (SAX)
Kruopis (OGE)
Gavazzi (AST)
Start
We have lift off in Spain!
Lindeman (VCD) unleashes the first attack of the day almost straight from the start and he means it.
Wellens (LTB) and Vorobyev (KAT) also attack a matter of a few hundred metres down the road.
Ahlstrand (ARG) also attacks out of the peloton, he also gets away and the break forms just before the first climb of the day.
Cat.3 KoM1
The climb was uncontested, the break away rolls over with Lindeman taking 6 points, Wellens 4, Ahlstrand 2 and Vorobyev 1. They have 1 minute on the peloton.
Cat.1 KoM2
Wellens sets a fast pace at the front of the break, they are struggling to hold on.
And he takes the 16 points with Lindeman second and Ahlstrand and Vorobyev 3rd and 4th respectively, they get briefly dropped but manage to rejoin oon the descent.
Cat.3 KoM3
Again uncontested as is an exact repeat of the first KoM of the stage. Lindeman and Wellens are on equal points.
Sprint
Again uncontested, Ahlstrand wins, Wellens second and Vorobyev third. They have 4'40" on the peloton who are in control and are going at a steady pace.
Cat.3 KoM4
Not one for the spectators this race, the KoM again uncontested and again the same result as the last 2 Cat.3 climbs.
20k
Wellens attacks! He is clearly the strongest in the group after 4 climbs today, he needs to get over last Cat.3 KoM with good time and hes got a chance.
Wellens Watch
Wellens takes the last KoM of the stage and starts his descent with 1'11" back to the peloton, the rest of the break has been caught by the peloton. He seems to have timed this very well.
Doesn't look like it's going to be Wellen's day the peloton are about to catch win just before 5KM, Not much forming of sprint trains yet although, Lampre and Orica are working hard on the front to raise the pace.
The Sprint
Wellens gets caught and the Lampre sprint train is the first to appear and with 3km left they are in a great place to deliver the best lead out although have Stromberg of Garmin on Cimolai's wheel. Blythe of BMC is also there as well. Saxo are setting up Bennati on the other side of the road and long with Orica who are looking for a stage win for Kruopis.
Just under 1.5km Lampre lead the bunch sprint into the finale although Palini's lead out is too strong for Cimolai and the rest of the field. Bennati still has a leadout man from Saxo and Stromberg in his wheel still, Blythe, Gavazzi, Cristobal Riquelme and Kruopis are also there to contest the sprint.
Bennati unleashes his sprint just under the kite, Cristobal Riquelme gets in his wheel, Gavazzi is coming fast down the other side of the tarmac but must have gone to early from too far back. Stromberg, Cimolai and Blythe start there sprint a few metres back.
Bennati leads with 500 metres left, Cristobal Riquelme tries to come round, Gavazzi is still going on the other side of the road but is starting to fade.
Bennati just needs to off the rest in the final metres.
Cristobal Riquelme can't come round, he just didn't have the speed to match Bennati who wins the first stage of Volta a Catalunya! Kruopis 3rd, Gavazzi hangs on to 4th, Stromberg 5th, Blythe 6th.

No problem. Decent result from Kruopis but we'll be looking for more if another bunch sprint comes around.

Nice sprint by Cristobal Riquelme, just not good enough for the win.
About the reports, both Neilstrer and Jaxika promised they'd do it the second week of january, so if I don't see anything this weekend I'll PM them again to get to a solution. Of course if they read this, they can always let me know.
And well, I think Sutty just forgot
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
