Gifting stages is part of the sport. Great ride from Santambrogio.
If it was gifted then yeah I agree but cycling has a bad history when it comes to people paying for stage wins, that I just can not stomach.
Not shocking Gesink cracked, hope he can bounce back
Dude, you can't seriously think this was bought?
I honestly hope it wasn't

I don't think Santambrogio or Vini Fantini could offer Nibali so.much that he would sell his win. He simply gave this to Santambrogio. |

Don't be silly. It's a GC leader giving a stage to a guy in exchange for pulling him up the mountain. Happens in every GT.
Usually also part of the deal is that if Astana needs help Vini will chase a break, while if Vini have someone in a break Astana won't chase.

You could see Nibbles and Santa talking and Nibbles giving him a sign to win the stage. |

Who would have thought last year that Santabrogio would stand a big chance of making a Giro Podium as well as winning a key MTF stage... Astonishing.

If he hadn't had to work for Scarponi in the past 2 years, he'd certainly finish in the top-10. This year I think he will have more freedom. And that makes to Polish riders in the top-10, along with superb Majka.
And Santambrogio had a good result in a mountain stage, finishing second in the 2011 Tour of Austria climb up Kitzbuheler Horn. Field wasn't that strong though, and Albasini won that race some years ago. |

@Fickman Yes, I agree he should be lowered.
But you should really stop saying that over and over again, it's getting really annoying, ok?

Well. The youth classification is certainly more thrilling than the GC. I think only 2 seconds from Majka to Betancur, but I'm not sure though. Majka have said, that he is going to try at Galibier, but of course not if Galibier is cancelled.
And Santa. Wow. Who would have thought that? But again, this is a Giro full of surprises. What will be the next? Cavendish winning the points jersey?

It happened during last years Tour aswell in Peyragudes. Froome would have overtaken Valverde but Sky needed the help from Movistar so Wiggins and Brailsford called him back.
Or am I wrong?
