It's easy. No one, literally no one said someting in 2008 or 2009 like: "This Froome guy really impressed me. He is the guy that within 5 years will be beating Contador".

It is certainly not the case in Spain and Italy with the culture
Generalization...
You can't put the blame for one idiot from whichever country to all the people from that country.
How many Spanish guys regularly post here ? A couple. What's their stance on doping ? Not really favourable to doped riders exploits...
We've got a couple of Italians as well, but I'm not sure they often speak about doping. Yet I wouldn't assume that they'd deny evidence of doping or say it doesn't matter.
As far as I know, there's no reason to think there'd be less doping in Anglo-Saxon countries than in Latin ones. |

To clarify, 2008 was his first season as a pro so it is no wonder no one was saying things to that effect; and if you read my first post you will see that I am dubious about Froome but there is no solid evidence, there are lots of factors that need taking into account and information that we just don't have on just how much his body was affected by the tropical virus.
My opinion on the spain and italian cultures is not based on the few that post here as I rarely read much on the forums but instead on the treatment you see of riders who have come back from bans by the fans on the side of the road during the vuelta and giro |

My old biology teacher both had Bilharzia and worked with people who had it. Her experiences do not point towards sudden physical development. She says that a full physical and mental recovery can take as long as 3 years. Yes this would put Froome in the time frame of full recovery, but i find it hard to believe that he would be able to skip those years of development, or condense them down to a single season in 2011.
And yes 2008 was his first pro-season but it was only Augustyn's second, and his first Tour participation. Augustyn outperformed him in near enough the exact same circumstances and at a younger age.
So if not for his injury i guess John-Lee would be winning this years race

I assume in the sense that they are still cheered and supported. That is generally part of the culture in cycling, you cheer everyone. Hell, i'm still an Armstrong fan and would cheer him in a race because of other factors beyond his doping. If you didn't cheer anyone involved with doping you would be cheering about 1 rider and hour.

Interesting info on the Bilharzia certainly not good for the froome front but not quite definitive yet, I'm still hoping he is clean.
Yeah the cheering front is the main one, but it would surely be more than 1 an hour...could cheer on the sprinter bus!
It would be great if we could look at Froome's training peaks data from when he first joined sky as I think the team always upload and send that to the coaches for analysis; would like to see how his figures have altered over those few years. |

So he improved his performance by almost 50 positions, 2010 lost due to illness, then improve by another 30s. Seems legit |

I'm normally avoiding dope related threads but this is almost as obvious as just taking dope in front of the camera's

+1. Dutch television asked who'll keep Froome away from a Tour-win. Hopefully the doping authotity...

Actually Sky fans accuse Armstrong of being a doper, while Armstrong fan boys accuse Sky

Glad i updated this to a Hate thread as well as doping discussion
Now for some fun, i don't think Froome is on drugs, just that he is an extremely talented individual with the right team at hand. And as he has never failed a test thee is no proof. Therefor innocent until proven guilty
