*START RANT ABOUT WIZARD OF OZ*
I've never seen a more miserable, overrated, crappy, stupid, annoying film than that. I mean that. I was never more disappointed with the world than after watching that horrible piece of film.
You want a good musical comedy? Watch "Singin' in the Rain", now there's a movie!
Wizard of Crap is not worth the film they use to print it on

Musical comedy ?
The Blues Brothers comes miles ahead before anything else here.
Soul men with Samuel L. Jackson and Bernie Mac was excellent too, though much less famous. |

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses.
Hit it.

My buddies went to see Oz as well (I couldn't make it) and they had the same response to it. We're going to see Iron man next when it comes out, so if you're into action movies it might be something for you to keep an eye on. |

Be very, very grateful.
I wanted to pluck out my eyeballs and throw them at the television. I'm pretty sure that if I was to look up statistics about suicide, I'd see a major suicide-explosion right after Oz was released.
I don't understand why this gets 99% freshness on Rotten Tomatoes and "The Return of the Killer Tomatoes" gets 0% (a totally awesome movie, by the way!) |

- How often does the train run by here?
- So often, you won't even notice.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

I've never seen that kind of response to the Wizard of Oz. I can't tell if you're trolling? Not that it's great, but I've never minded it.

Well, world war 2 did start seven days later... coincidence?
As for wheter the movie is good or not, it was a high-budget childrens movie, what do you expect?
Still, it's a pretty unique film. One of the first commercially released movies in color.
Not to mention that it has brought joy to several generations of stoners. |

Stoners have better films to enjoy
2001: A Space Oddysey
Reefer Madness
...
Oh, and I'm not trolling, I really think Oz was the single worst experience in my movie-life. I had heard so much about it, so much positive, and at 18 years old when I saw it, you can't imagine the disappointment. Especially right after watching Singing In The Rain for the first time, which totally fulfilled all expectations.

Concerning musicals, nothing can beat Hair and Jesus Christ Supestar for me.
And i am not sure here Ian, are you talking here about old Oz original, or there is some modern crap remake?

Original 1939 Oz. I just can't stand it.
Daggen: You thought The Artist was a good movie? I've seen hundredths of real silent movies and I must say The Artist really blows. It's not even remotely funny or touching, it's just another "original" money-maker that got some oscars, congratulations.
If you like Silent movies, I suggest you watch real, amazing silent movies. Needless to say, there is Charles Chaplin (a genius), Buster Keaton (very funny), Laurel and Hardy... However, I wouldn't recommend "Battleship Potemkin" or "Storm over Asia".
If you look good you can find every single movie Charles Chaplin ever released (except one movie that's been lost forever, a short). Most of his work you can buy on Amazon, some movies I had brought over from Slovakia. There are his famous movies like Modern Times, City Lights and The Gold Rush, all absolutely brilliant, but he has many other gems, like Limelight, The Circus and many shorts like His Prehistoric Past, Between Showers... |

True that.
There are also movies like Nosferatu,or Metropolis, these rock!
I have not seen the Artist yet, but i think i would have the same oppinion like you.

Damn. With this long-distance-education thing and all, I've been out of the world for too long. I'm like a turtle in its shell, the world seems so hostile and strange now every time I come out of the house. I should really get back into the world, because this probably isn't healthy |
