Found this a useful summary to get up to speed on the WT, especially if you are on a limited connection like my mobile (nice small file):

actually... with Oleg Tinkov creating his own team, does anyone else see the remnants of the Euskaltel/Vacansoleil disbanding ending up there?
or is that not happening now either? (been busy with uni since the TDF ended, so everything's taken a bit of a back seat) |

I don't remember hearing anything from Tinkov since his post-Tour rant, and his criticism to AC for not doing the Vuelta, so I wouldn't bet on it happening.

Please no. That means that Nieve might go there. |

Some pretty strange transfers this season, i feel that next season is going to be much more interesting than 2013's one.

Well, Caisse used to have some French riders, thanks to the sponsor, so I really don't find this transfer that strange. |

I guess there were many teams teams that wouldn't have touched him with a 10 feet pole, but a team having Valverde probably can't be bothered... |

Seriously, what's your problem with Gadret? |

Personally ? None.
Feel free to think he's nothing but the poor victim of some frustrated internet forum members who try to depict him as a walking (cycling...) chemical experiment, with a nasty reputation (dope-wise that is) lasting from his MTB days, and quite odd form peaks, etc.
I could add he's an butt hole, but that wouldn't be related to what we're discussing. |

You mean the chemical being, Jogn Gadret?
Also, he has to be very good lad, here is Roche talking about how good teammate Gadret was.

Some if these transfers are kind of weird. PCM isn't so bad anymore. Gadret to Movistar? I mean wtf?

I know he's not mr. Nice Guy when it comes to being a team mate. However, when it comes to doping, I haven't read anything about concrete suspicions, doping investigations or him even being mentioned as a client of a questionable doctor. Don't know anything his MTB days though, don't you mean cyclocross? |

Yes, cyclo-cross, of course.
Also, he's had a history of teams that's not really recommendable : stagiaire at Cofidis late 2003 (remember the scandal there 6 months later), then two small Belgian teams (rather badly reputed for Jatarzi, not sure about Chocolade Jacques), then AG2R (the worst big team in France in terms of doping reputation), now Movistar, not really the cleanest team of the peloton.
To insist on his 2003-2004-2005 career, there is, or was a career pattern for good French amateurs at that time. If a team is interested in the rider, he'll be a stagiaire. If he's convincing by his results and ethics he'll get a contract. Otherwise he'll become an amateur again, or will try to find a new team.
Gadret didn't show much at Cofidis, which is natural for a cyclo-cross specialist who didn't have his focus on road racing. Still, if the rider is good enough, he'll turn pro. If he's clean, he'll end up at a team with a good reputation (like FDJeux, Crédit Agricole or Bouygues at the time), if he's not it's either a small foreign team, either he'll remain a top amateur for the rest of his days.
Then if a come back to a French team is possible, it's at AG2R. Guess who Gadret signed for...
See Lhotellerie or Passeron who went abroad and what happened next... |
