Did I say we were doing GP Monsere? I meant GP Criquielion of course!
I'd have preferred that one last year as well
Another pretty lame block - partly due to not having too many starters, on the other hand those who did compete mostly weren't really competitive.
Cosnefroy's 6th place in Strade is a strong result, though, definitely can't complain about that. Bettiol and Tronchon just outside the points is a little unlucky, but that's the rules ^^
Einhorn as the only starter in Monseré unfortunately failed to score as well, after getting 9th last year. Looks like I'm valuing former results far too much

Block 2 results
After a pretty solid Block 1, we saw the first big misses in Block 2. Despite having 224 riders in the game, no one drafted the winner and runner-up in Le Samy (Rex & Morgado), the winner in Laigueglia (Lenny Martinez), the runner-up in Strade (Skujins) and the 3rd in GP Monsere (Dekker, but it's ok you missed him).
The best scoring team are once again the Zondagcoureurs (sunday riders, a term for riders at a very amateur level in case you were wondering)! They had a good Strade Bianche and GP Monsere to extend their lead to almost 100 points.
Three teams close together for the podium spots. The Hussars, Macros and Rogues all had decent races except for Strade Bianche, where the big points are. Another 100 points to the Red Lanterns, who probably set a record for lowest scoring when scoring in all 4 races.
Quite the opposite are the Racoons, who only scored with Van Gils, but those juicy points bring them closer to a top 5 spot. The 59'ers see Van de Paar save them from a very bad block to defend their 7th place. The Spokes had a good Strade but didn't score anywhere else.
The Ice Tulips shoot up the rankings after their lord and savious Pogacar starts his season with a massive win. The Fainthearts also win a spot after a better round, while the Cobblers lose a spot after a poor round. The W are still waiting for that W.
The Bombers missed the deadline and got unlucky with Alaphilippe once again. Yet somehow, they're still holding off the Hornets, who suffer from De Lie's bad luck so far.

The dream continues
Timothy Dupont the madman, and Taminiaux scoring some nice depth points again. If Pidcock keeps getting results like this and Wellens also keeps his nice form going, we should hopefully be able to keep the battle going and finish in the top half. Gregoire was weaker than I hoped for, hopefully he finds one or more hilly races later where he can find his magic again. Was looking forward to see what Yates could do in Strade, a shame he removed the race from his calender last minute. Also, confiding in three Cofidis guys so far hasn't proved to be the best decision, but I guess that was to be expected I still have faith though, the two sprinters hopefully with some results in block 3 next week.

Lower midfield... Could have been worse, but definitely also better. I guess with the top picks not racing, low scoring isn't really unexpected.
At least we should have De Kleijn on board for the next block; Kooij and Welsford probably will only do some classics starting with MSR. The drought period will likely continue - and as far as I remember, we're still waiting for our first (scoring) win...
Congrats to Nemo, looks like you found the right breakfast menu for your riders Belgian Waffles?

The Road to the first Monument
13/03/2024 | Nokere Koerse | CT+ | 13/03/2024 | Milano - Torino | CT+ | 14/03/2024 | GP Denain | CT1 | 15/03/2024 | Bredene Koksijde Classic | CT1 |
A small break now, as you can curse your riders who decided to do stage races instead of classics. Also we lost the Ronde van Drenthe unfortunately, meaning we have to wait until next wednesday for the next races.
The two bigger ones are in Nokere and Torino. Nokere Koerse has more cobbles than ever before, while Milano-Torino has become very sprinter friendly after a long history as a puncheur race. With Denain and Handzame also often ending with a sprint, there is a chance we will see 4 sprint finishes this block.
I need your startlist next week wednesday 10:00 am again. That's over a week away so no excuses

Just 5 confirmed starters, but at least minimum one per race... Looking forward to De Kleijn's debut, he's been one of the strongest sprinters so far this year. One of the candidates to finally get our first (scoring) win, in season #3...
Hofstetter and Capiot might be able to do well, too, if they can actually lead their teams. Kooij, Welsford and Cosnefroy are just included in case I forget to post the block 4 update, so they should automatically be in if I got the rules right.
