Congrats on the epic win, ember. Preidler did pick well the stage to shine on.
Losing more seconds to Yates is the opposite of what we needed, but I guess it was to be expected with the flat finish. The mountain TT should go well for Eastman but at this point I don't believe there's a real chance of a podium.
Fascinating final week in any case. Thanks for the brilliant reports again, Imladrik!

That was quite a scary moment seeing Formolo dropped towards the summit. Especially since he seemed to have a good day, putting in what looked quite a strong attack earlier in the climb.
Maybe this was his bad moment of the final week and there will be no cracking. But next we have the time - trial, which I'm quite scared off. We'll see where we are after that. Hopefully still in the top 10!

Can't blame Munoz for not trying with three breaks in a row, but with 2 15's more or less and one okay sixth place it seems like this Vuelta will be the second disappointment of the season from him. His TT also was far from fantastic, sadly. Hope he can get in the break in the final mountain stage, and Abdul Halil can get another top5 in the final sprint.
Thanks for the continuous amazing reports, Imladrik

That wasn't bad at all. Formolo with a huge result in front of him now. Here's to a dull final mountain stage.

Vosekalns with a huuuuge day. Bit unfortunate that he happened to have this on a tt stage - would be awesome if he could repeat that day tomorrow again!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Good stage from Eastman. Glad to have gained time on Yates, but, as predicted, not enough. One minute gap to both the next rider in front and behind means anything can still happen. Let's see what's in store.
Congrats again DD, now leave something for the rest of us, will you?

Aww that wasn’t a good TT. Just 1 spot lost so no attacking tomorrow either.
Really hope Chiarello can stay in the top 10 atleast.

Dombrowski finishing off what in the end looks like quite a comfortable win.
It looks like Formolo cracked in the last kilometer there and without that he might have actually won a spot in the GC. But, Latour looked really strong today so very very happy to keep that 5th place, which is way more than what I could have asked for before the start of the race.
Here's to an uneventful last stage.

We didn’t get the action in the final week we had hoped for due to the GC aspirations of Chiarello, but to actually make the top 10 (bar any final Stage disaster) make up for it. Probably not in terms of points where 15th and some better stageresults and GC from Mavrikakis had been more valuable, but in terms of the value of Chiarello and the hopes of a decent Tour de France it’s great.
Fingers crossed that Bouglas can make a good final Stage.

Glad to see Eastman try even though it came to no fruition (and even close to losing to Formolo). Fourth is quite adequate considering everything I guess, so got to be satisfied.

We were very unlucky with the break game, but our riders rode strong to actually do well across classifications. The previous mountain stage really did hurt us jn GC terms however great report once more!

It's a bitter sweet feeling to see Dombrowski breaking the second place curse immediately after leaving the team, but it's good to know that he won't be remembered in the MG history as the guy with only second places in Grand Tours. Congrats, DD!
What a wonderful result from Formolo. When I looked at the startlist, I figured he had a chance at the top 10, but finishing 5th is absolutely amazing. Especially since it wasn't thanks to a breakaway, but thanks to putting in the work in each and every single day. A stage win would have been the cherry on the top, but in the end that doesn't really matter with such a wonderful GC performance.
Thank you for the great coverage, Imladrik!

First. Thanks for the great reports Imladrik.
Really tough for Degenkolb to lose the points jersey like that. But also testament to how strong Dombrowski was. As nobody else was close. He broke the 2nd place curse and did it style.
Great to see Walscheid getting involved in the sprint on Stage 21.

Time to drink, Oleg!
Dombrowski was unstoppable. Kudus had that bad day at the begining of the race, which could have made things different, but even then he would probably have won this. Congrats on a massive race DD!
Had a team built around the sprint block. It was an absolute catatrophe, Van Stayen barely scraping the Final Points Classification Top10. Pathetic. Fortunately decided to bring in Eastman, who delivered despite having no depth (Rachid seemed to be absolutely useless). Too bad he had that bad day who took him out of the podium, otherwise he could have ended one or may two places ahead.
The coverage was outstanding. Can't stop praising Imladrik. Loved the whole thing! Thank you once again!

Thank you for the coverage, Imladrik! Enjoyed it, both text and pictures, well done!
For us, stage 20 was the worst possible seeing it from our perspective, with Preidler missing from the breakaway and thus missing out on a decent GC, and possibly a top 3 in the KoM standings too. Ending all the way down in 16th was a bit below expectations after his huge breakaway win, as I thought a top 13 looked good then. Good thing he got us the stage win, other than that, I must admit I had hoped to see him be slightly more active in breakaways, but maybe his mountain stat was one or two points too high to feature as often as a couple of the other typical breakaway riders.
Big congratulations on the massive GC win, DD. Absolutely dominant performance by Dombrowski, also getting the points jersey in a race where Degenkolb really dominated the sprint stages, says a lot. |

Congrats to Dombrowski and DubbelDekker on the Vuelta win, in the end things were never really in doubt and the points jersey and multiple stage wins should really add a lot of points for him. On our end, Carthy in 6th is acceptable for us despite not really doing too well at all in the individual stages. I can say I hoped for more - and almost expected us to just about beat Formolo for 5th but he did more than enough to hold on and almost move up to 4th in what I'd call the surprise of the race really. Still, we should gather a decent enough amount of points even if we could have been more active in the breaks and we should recover our position in the division after that tragic Giro.

Overall, im very happy with the race. We got a stage win and both Vosekalns and Blums got into good break situations and mostly played it fairly smart and strong from there. Several strong stage results, and a high KoM finish (without a lot of points via kom standings) and both our leaders finishing inside the top 25 is a really solid result and makes this one of the best races for the season.
Congrats to dd, dominant performance for Dombo.
One of the highlights of the race for me was the youth jersey fight. Very entertaining fight with great coverage for the more neutral readers.
Thanks for another GT with fantastic reports throughout. We are really blessed to have such a high quality for all these GTs!

Congrats to DD on a Dombo win!
Was really hoping that ISA would get the points jersey for Degenkold but a weak final stage from him limits that sadly!
Enjoyed reading the reports as a bystander with no vested interest in the GT!
