Another rider has tested positive, this time for Corticosteroiods.

Can't see it being anybody significant. |

The AFLD didn't say another guy tested positive. They said there were 22 abnormal results, then said X of those were covered by a perscription for this, Y by a prescription for that, etc., which added up to 21...so one of them (for cortico) isn't explained.
Instead of taking the conclusion that the AFLD miswrote one of the numbers on the press release, the press instead took the conclusion that the "missing explanation" is that a guy tested positive.
It might have happened, but I wouldn't bet on it as being the most likely case.

Well, what else? If the guy has taken a substance which he isn't allowed to take, isn't that testing positive? |

It can be an abnormal result that's not past the limit, there could be paperwork involved, there could've been a misspelling by the AFLD on the press release.
Either way, if anyone did test positive, it's strange that the name hasn't been leaked out, which makes it very unlikely. I can't remember any time that the name was successfully held until after the B sample was tested.

Sella tells CONI he used EPO
By Agence France Presse
Posted Aug. 8, 2008
Italian cyclist Emanuele Sella has admitted taking the banned blood booster EPO.
After a hearing before the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) on Friday in Rome, in which he and compatriot Marta Bastianelli were banned from all competitions, Sella issued a statement in which he admitted having had access “to an unauthorized drug” and “clarified the context” in which he had received it.
"I have got a weight off my shoulders. I'm conscious of what I did and as a result I decided to cooperate," Sella told Gazzetta dello Sport after the hearing.
Sella tested positive for EPO (erythropoietin) in an out-of-competition check last month following three stage wins at May's Giro d’Italia. He placed sixth in the overall standings. |

Bring the lifetime ban in. For every doper. Every single one. Team managers, soigners, past dopers, new dopers, doctors, coaches. Every single one involved. Kick them out of OUR SPORT.
I'm also disgusted that the Tour of Britain invited Di Luca to race. Just lowers the competition in my eyes.

This year the Tour of Britian have really done something crap teamwise. Rock Racing etc.
I love the race, but can we please have it back to normal next year. No inviting people for namesake.

Di Luca, Petacchi, Rock Racing...
Tour of Britain organizers aren't exactly being smart this year...I will still go because one of the stages ends near me, but it wasn't a great move inviting these.
It isn't as though the organizers are advertising the race so there in no benefit from these "big names".

i'll go, support the race and watch Cavendish win a sprint win in London and hope next year for a good race. Hopefully more "pro tour" teams will come.

rotfl. Of course he said everything because his lawyer probably told him to do so. So he'll get a discount on the months and come back to race soon. And that's what sucks. |

until now, admitting guilt has had zero effect on the penalties CONI has dished out. Let's hope it stays that way

Lets hope they increase it to punish him further. He's fully aware he's done wrong, and has played the system to try and get back to racing quicker. Has any media outlet published him saying he's sorry? Or done wrong? Not that i know of. He's a slimy, scummy undeserving tosser.
But thats just my opinion.

its best that admitting guilt does not increase the penalty, or less people would confess

Ok, confess, and tell who sold them the dope - they can come back to race in 3 years time. And have to pay all court expenses, plus compensation to their team, pay back a years wages (which i think they have to do anyway).
Don't confess - fine, lifetime ban.
Sorted.

We need is the idiots who supply the dope and pretend not to know anything about it to be punished and banned, not compensated!
