Well, we are off to one of the worst GT starts ever. Six stages down and still haven't had a rider finish inside the Top 50. Plus, only one breakaway attempt.
Not good, not good... Wake up team!!!

Gasparotto is a beast, and I'm really happy I found a method to keep him in my team.
So that is why you were shopping him via PMs like mad?
I was about to end above my wage cap, and needed to free up the space. So when I finally found another option (Tim Dees, whom I have had for 4 years), then Gasparotto was safe. I don't have another 50K rider I would want to lose.

Wohooo, you made me cry for another few moments there.
Not impressed by Pozzovivo apparently not paying the needed attention here. Apparently he had the legs, so those drops had other reasons. Nice comeback though. If he finishes somewhere in that area in most of the mountains, a Top-10 looks very doable.
Of course my minor hopes for wearing pink in the first week are now all over Stage win totally up to lottery now. Let's hope for some breakaways from Grivko. Probably the only one being capable of doing well in a break.

Seemed like my squad did some really good work early on, then for some reason Denifl managed to be badly placed. Strange when he got caught behind later then. AI-logic, have helpers in front and leader too far behind...
Seemes like Denifl had good legs in the end though, but I fear 2 min is already too much compared to Schleck and Madrazo who will most likely battle out for the win, then I can just hope that Denifl starts taking time on Ricco for third

Yeah the gaps opened up wide there and too right. Outstanding display from Ricco to destroy faint Cunego hopes even more. But Schleck and the sloppy Madrazo still the best, Madrazo gets better and better in general so expecting more from him later.
Lost one guy please let that mean no more stupid sprint trains thanks!

Krasnoperov
Topchanyuk seems pretty strong, and Prevar in the top 10 of U25 riders is cool too.

WTF. Lazy C***s - Help Ricco a bit you two huge favorites!!!
Very happy with todays result. Another 2nd place with Ricco doing a monster job, which is surprising as he has been 10th GC in the two races he raced so far.
No abandons is also great, as Tzortzakis stays in the battle for more points. Still in the points jersey, while also Ricco climbing well into that battle.
Fingers are crossed that the flat stage here can be controlled, and that Tzortzakis still have some power left, before we reach a very difficult stage.
Also nice to see Campero in the attack. I have no idea why, but I love my little bolivian rider

I wonder what happened if Schleck or Madrazo did chase today!
Ricco did 100% of all work in this group. Not even Suaza as team mate was helping I think.
Huge power move by Ricco for sure. |

Flat stages went bit meh, didn't expect much but Kump never really tried...which is a shame but he's still a solid domestique for Madrazo so not all lost.
MTF....could have been far worse, Goos really did amazing job there helping to bridge, 14 seconds lost doesn't seem bad considering at one point it looked far worse, Andy's acceleration showed at the end, if Angel wants to win we really need to attack him from further out. The hilly stage will be very interesting, not sure what to expect really, but hopefully we stay attentive as the race can be easily lost there.

I guess a top 15 is the best Brambilla can do here. Hopefully he will go for the KoM jersey or a stage win at some point.

Quite a dramatic stage, loved it!
We know who can win and who can't win the Giro for sure now. Still room to gain some time lost back but the group of the sure contenders has been reduced now.
Congrats to Vesuvio, thanks for the exciting report Roturn!

Well not a terrible stage. Sucks to see so many riders abandon. Scared that I will see more riders OTL here, including Napo.

Right about where we expected to be so content with that. Hopefully Siutsou will go for the KOM jersey. Schleck v Madrazo shaping up to be an intriguing battle.

What a performance from Ricco! That's just sensational, and quite cool to see AI allow such riders the chance to compete with the best, like Martin in T-A as well. Congratulations to SotD and of course to SN. A huge stage for Vesuvio with also Suaza up there.
Very happy with Guldhammer! Coming home in 7th on the same time as Cunego and Denifl is definitely far more than expected, and if this is an indication for what's to come, he certainly looks good for a top 10.
Thanks for the report, roturn. I really enjoyed it with the text also analyzing the race, not just reporting. |

Kinda weird that neither Schleck or Madrazo hit the front. But the race is long and today they hardly needed to. Ricco had to ride, and so they just took advantage of that. Very happy with the gains at the finish. Perhaps shows that more could have been possible if going earlier, but no complaints whatsoever about stage win and GC lead!
Phenomenal ride by Suaza, putting many team leaders to shame. Maybe Andy opted to hold back today to allow Suaza to stay in contact. A high gc position remains highly unlikely for Suaza, but shows how valuable he will be.
Pity that Kirsch placed himself badly. Pinot would always be tough to beat in the U25 comp, and that's almost out of the question now. A missed opportunity to lead there briefly, but 2nd place is still a possibility over the 3 weeks.

Interesting start to the mountains. At least all the favorites survived the first week without much issue. But I really don't understand why Nibali is so horrible. Even if ACC is bad, his MO is still 82 and I don't see why he is losing this much time all year.

Expected mountain horror for us, but at least no Metinvest riders abandoned so far, that is a success, but i expect us to finish the Giro with some 3 guys really.
We had our time of glory and anything else could be a nice bonus, so i can concentrate on the GC battle as the spectator. Andy is simply great in finishing the hard stages with his acceleration. Nice ride from Ricco, but the maglia rosa fight should be all about two guys now.
Thanks for the report and congrats to Vesuvio!

Okay now I am just laughing
Great news for the other sprinters though as we really are chasing down those breaks. I am encouraged for the future though, Chen will get better as a lead out. Annoyed really that a couple of transfer season targets are doing better lead outs. Gaspa for example!
