He's signed with Sky who have injected Bilharzia into him year early so he's crap at Quickstep and recovers fully for 2016 with GT powers.
True story.

Policemen from Holland are going to block le Tour on live tv, after 15 weeks of failed union negotiations.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

That phrasing didn't really help me understand what they gonna do exactly, will they stand in front of the peloton at the départ fictif or what?

Apparently they're going to block the advertisment cars (reclamekaravaan in Dutch, if anyone could find a proper translation) at the Erasmusbrug in Rotterdam, thus blocking the race, without any danger for the spectators whatsoever.

Yeah...
They are going to block it until TV broadcasts in multiple countries are able to broadcast it live, so who knows, could take a while.
ugh
I know they want attention and all, but imo this is not the right way to do it.
Yay make the people suffer!
The public opinion will obviously turn against them, as is what happened a few weeks, ago when the police decided to block a football game in the Eredivisie playoffs.

And they bring boats as well, apparently. No idea what those are going to achieve though

World champions rarely race the nc's and if they do it's to help a teammate win so wouldn't look too much into it.

Considering how much publicity the Polish championships are getting this year, this is at least PR-wise a shot in the knee, so I'd bet there are better reasons

Wouldnt be surprised, using the Bilharzia excuse basically allows you to dope especially in regards to red blood cell count.
A cliffs notes on why that is the case, basically these parasites feed on red blood cells and thus can lead to all sorts of problems specifically Anemia. This allows you to supplement the production of red blood cell count without it looking suspicious.
Obviously for Kwiato its just joking but for someone like Froome you can dope to the upper limit of the bio passport without being questioned.

So do they want more money and for what?
Couldnt the tour just get a private security group to run crowd control if they wanted?
Or is this such a huge event on Dutch tv (obviously cycling is huge there) that this is the best way to get their cause shown to everyone.

Nope. Here are the last few WCs and whether they rode in the NC while they were WC:
Season | Rider | NC? | 2014 | Costa | No | 2013 | Gilbert | No | 2012 | Cavendish | No | 2011 | Hushovd | Yes | 2010 | Evans | No | 2009 | Ballan | Yes | 2008 | Bettini | No | 2007 | Bettini | No | 2006 | Boonen | Yes |
So you can see that it is in fact slightly unusual for the WC to ride in their NC in the road race. Some of them rode in the TT, indicating that they were available, but chose to skip the RR. I didn't take into account what the circuits were like, and I suspect that Bettini for example may not have wanted to ride a mountainous course.
However, it makes sense right? Why would you want to travel in the week before the TDF starts to a different country, having to bring all of your equipment and such when you are already wearing a much, much more prestigious jersey? He would be better off just going for a longer/harder training ride than usual for the day or two that he would be away, but staying wherever he is in training.

So their sponsor dicates the races they ride.
Why didnt you just say it.
I know others on here think guys getting paid millions should ride whatever garbage races they can. But that is what is happening here.
Umm the WC losing a race in their country against riders just in their country is literally the worst fucking thing possible happening outside of them not showing up for the TDF.

...because that has nothing to do with what I'm saying. What are you even going on about? I'm talking about prestige in that quote, plain and simple. If anything, that is the exact opposite of commercialism. Besides, most sponsors would love to have a NC in their jersey, particularly from a prestigious nation. FDJ and the French jersey spring to mind.

Name a WC who 1) rode their NC while in the jersey and 2) won that NC. Here is a hint: none of them were in that list that I posted above.
Besides, riders lose 90%+ of race days in each calendar year. Why would a NC be any different?

No Kittel at Tour.
Well Cav will be happy, he can win again at Champes, also Degenkolb will be ecstatic, green is achievable now.

I'm not sure Cav is 100% happy with Kittel out. Surely he would want to beat Kittel to show whos the real fastest man on 2 wheels but with Kittel out the speculation will continue.
The one person that will be certainly happy with this is Degenstache. Would be a dream season for him to win MSR Roubaix and some Tour stages. |

All Cav cares about now is new lucrative contract and he needs to deliver to get that from QS. He wants a 3 year contract which is quite insane in cycling so yea he needs to win a lot here.
And it's pointless comparision who's better right now imo, Cav is past his best peak while Kittel is/was hitting it, we'd have to compare 2010's Cav for fair comparison with Kittel now. Contract and more stage wins are the only things on his mind ( and those tie in together).

I doubt that cyclists actually care about that, that is just a trash talk for pundits, to argue who is faster...
Edit: Anyway, good for Sagan, who can now grab few more points also in flatest stages.

But bad for Sagan at the same time because now Degenkolb will be in the mix for green. |
