Will Power is everything. It is what we teach our boys here at SanCor. Sure, the lads have their ups and downs, and sometimes it's hard to see through the dark clouds. But the sun is always up there, even if you don't see it shining. We teach our boys to be hopeful. Hopeful of better days, even hopeful of a nicer future for us and our children.
Resistance. Will power. Mental strength. Our boys posses it.
In Ruta America Del Sur, Max Richeze had to use every fibre in his body to get another amazing victory for our young SanCor team. Timing his sprint perfectly and keep giving his all until the finish.
It is said to be one of the closest sprints ever measured. On the line, they needed some sort of micrometer to see who was the winner.
The stage starting in Argentina, our home, probably gave our boys the extra motivation to go that extra mile today. They did well and they're sowing up what was an amazing debut season for us.
With the end of the season approaching, it is also time for a small reflection. What did our Headquarters contribute and where did it go wrong? Did our team succeed on its goals, or did we fail?
First off, we feel SanCor Cycling Team has done very well. We're looking at a top 10 place in the CT League, plenty of victories by the B World Champ but also by other riders. We've seen our riders work together well and grow as human beings. No, we couldn't be more proud. And as it stands now, we really hope we can keep the team together for the coming years. These lads have come home, now.
Secondly, however, our HQ. We feel it's gone wrong here. We were optimistic at first, trying to bring the audience monthly (p)reviews. However, this did not fit into our timetable and motivation decreased. We were lucky that the team held us together and now we feel we have found a second breath. But we must think about our future, as well.
Next season, we will be aiming for less updates, but rather more quality to bring to you. No monthly (p)reviews, but bring you the news that matters. And keep track of what the team is doing.
From Argentina,

I remember how you wrote that the top ten in CT rankings would be the goal and i was rather skeptical about that. Seems as if you could estimate the strength of your team better than I could. Congrats for your rankings place and welcome to PCT (?)!
A Big Thank You To All MG Reporters!

Cheers guys. I don't know if top 10 is enough to promote. And if it is, not sure if it'd be the best thing. One the one hand, can't pass up an opportunity, but I feel we wouldn't survive at all in the PCT at the moment.

We're very proud of our entire team and also of our diversity. However, we feel that a promotion to the PCT would be hard for us. But we're willing to try and make it work. One thing we have learned is that Richeze is our sprinter. Point. Despite Rafael's fantastic victory in the Amissa Bongo, our second tier sprinters simply don't bring in enough points. We want to keep Richeze and build the sprinter's squad around him.
Then we need reinforcements. Riders like Rodas and Juarez and Roman and Hernandez have performed well throughout the season, but we need riders who can consistently score points.
Season Highlights
What were the most beautiful moments of the season?
Arguably, the most beautiful moment was the Great Ocean Road Classic. Richeze's first race and a first victory. It was the start of an amazing season for us. But the Tour de Langkawi was amazing, too, with riders in the top 10 in every single stage, including a victory by Richeze and three other podium places., but also top 10s from Rodas, Roman and Andriato.
Perhaps even more fantastic was Rodas' moment to shine in San Luis. A victory from this legend was an incredible moment for us and we think everyone thought he deserved it!
Lastly, the last victory of the season in de Ruta America del Sur. It was a fantastic sprint right down to the line, ending in one of the closest margins in history. Richeze, thank you for an amazing year with us.
This was our season. We'll go over our season objectives later and see if we accomplished them! |

Pretty good first season for the team. I remember your performance in Tachira at the beginning of the season, you having a stage win and GC-lead in a superstrong PCT-field, and we absolutely nothing

Yes, that was quite fantastic
We had some nice ups but also some unmemorable downs
Overall, I'm very happy with my first season. Especially with having the restrictions of my regional focus, which I'm looking to increase even further. Within 2 seasons, I want 100% Argentinian.
Will be tough to combine with PCT, though. But we can do it, I hope. |

Let's take a look at our goals and how many we achieved!
Stage Win: Ruta America del Sur
Win: Tour de San Luis
Win: Clasico San Cristobal
Top 10: CT Team Standings
KoM: Giro del Capo
Success!
Max Richeze did get us the win in Ruta America del Sur on stage 7, and it was a beauty! Too bad he only took one in the long stage race, but it was enough to complete our goal.
Our most ambitious goal, arguably, but we managed it. A 10th place on the CT Ranking. We're proud of this one since this is a team effort. Well done, everyone!
Failure!
Mountain Rankings were not our thing this season and now we know.
Hilly stages were not our thing this season and now we know.
Stage Races were not our thing this season and now we know. Although Rodas managed a 7th place in San Luis, a creditable result for the MG legend! |

Success at the Colombian Championships
After a mediocre Road Race, the Colombian Individual Time Trial Championships turned into a fantastic experience for SanCor Cycling Team. Pedro Herrera managed an incredible effort and took the Colombian ITT jersey with 11 seconds to spare.
We're very proud of his achievement here and add yet another (late) win to our season. For those keeping track: it's our ninth of the season. As far as debut seasons go, we're going strong! Now all hope lies on our Argentine squad to make it 10 at the Argentine Road Race, coming up shortly.
Also worth mentioning is Moreno Hernandez' nice fifth spot. Congrats, boys.

Will Power Is Everything (Part II)
Will Power is everything. We've said it before, and it's true. Walter Trillini knows this is true. After going in the break of the day, Walter proved himself SanCor worthy and took the Argentine Road Race Championship in style. He just earned himself a new contract, be sure of that!
And don't think that's it. Laureano Rosas is a valuable team member and he put the icing on the cake. As Argentine Time Trial Champion 2015, we have both Argentine Jerseys in our collection. Add the Colombian ITT, and it's a success for us at the National Championships.
But that's not all...
We are proud to present our old team: SanCor. What's to present, you may ask? Easy. SanCor will defend its color, not in the Continental League, but in the ProContinental League, from now on. Promotion was in the air and we grabbed the opportunity.
May we have successes in the upcoming season. We hope to keep our team together and add some new names into the mix. Maybe bring Lucas' brother into the team?
Anyways. We're real excited about the upcoming season. PCT and all!

And with the National Championships behind us, we added three more victories to our counter. This brings our total count of victories at 11!
[C2HC] Great Ocean Road Classic: Max Richeze
[C1] Vuelta al Tachira - Stage 4: Carlos Barredo
[C2] Tour de San Luis - Stage 5: Julian Rodas
[C2HC] Tour de Langkawi - Stage 7: Max Richeze
[C2] Circulo de Juarez - Stage 3: Max Richeze
[C2HC] La Tropicale Amissa Bongo - Stage 4: Rafael Andriato
[C2] Herald Sun Tour - Stage 4: Max Richeze
[C2] Ruta Amerca del Sur - Stage 7: Max Richeze
[NC] Colombian Time Trial: Pedro Herrera
[NC] Argentinian Time Trial: Laureano Rosas
[NC] Argentinian Road Race: Walter Trillini
This ends our fantastic debut season. We've said all we want to say.
All that's left is: best wishes for 2016 and see you, ready to race, next year! |
