TMM: Those are fine results, but not more than that. As I said he chooses he spots where he is able to climb with the best, but then doesnt really show up other times. I also seem to remember him doing that on Angliru, so he clearly has the potential. My point simply was that i wouldnt be surprised to see him in top-10 more regularly in big races now that he races on Sky.
Timo: Yes, he has great talent, otherwise you wouldnt be able to do what he did today. But as I said before, he lacks consistency (i doubt thats only a result of being unlcuky)..
Once you marginalize your EPO levels, consistency becomes easy. |

Anyone else pissed at the coverage?
Only showed Poels and Avermaet, no clear pictures of the favourites group.

This group could actually make it to the top! Hoping for showdown between the best tho. |

Terminillo covered in snow. Poor guys riding up there but it should make for some epic footage. That is to say, I hope the cameras won't run into problem.
Since Astana put Scarpoini up ahead, they don't seem to rely on Nibali to do anything.

Strong Quintana attack when Contador fell back a bit in the group. But Bertie gets back with Uran just to see another acceleration by Nairito. Uuh.
Nibali dropped hard, very hard.

Quintana is flying away whilst the favourites gorup is sorta, whatever. Pinot looks fit, even riding without freaking gloves in this cold. Contador makes some moves but I'm not sure what to think of them.

Quite a fun mountain stage, lots of small moves in some tough conditions. Pinot is the only one of the three Tour podium finishers who does something this early in the season. Quintana clearly strongest today.
Contador is making life tough on himself with all that little attacks, when he isn't good enough. I wonder how he will manage the double peak. So far, I have no worries though.

I can live with being called a fanboy when saying Quintana is the best pure climber in the peloton if his answer is this.
I know, its early, Froome isnt here etc., but holy shit a performance where everyone else were pretty equal.
Edit: Kadtaganero probably was right about the crash and him training in some ridicolous hard mountains leading up to T-A. Odds 11 at Nairo seems like a good bet now!

Purito third, very well done. He seems to be coming nicely into form for another catalunya win.

Hopefully he tries to get through and peaks at week 3 in the Giro and also lay a little low here early in the season, then it can be possible. If thats indeed what happened today I dont know tho, he was incredible strong in Andalucia |

The conditions might have knocked Contador about but yeah he certainly isn't 100%
Quintana reminding the cycling world that he is a beast (if we needed reminding), surprised to see Cummings up there and nice ride by Yates

Watching the final parts of that climb is why I dig cycling, riding through the snow is something I wish I had more of a chance to do over here in Oz
