CLASSIC SUD ARDÈCHE | 197 KM
We have the following 5 in the breakaway:
| Fouchard | | Lecuisinier | | Gène | | Pomoshnikov | | Lovassy |
70K to go, they still have a gap of 4'.
Di Gregorio and Mendes are the first to counter attack. They have 1' on the bunch and are 1' behind the BOTD.
A big group accelerates out of the pack, and Mondory is with them. He tries to keep up, but the top of the last climb is 100m too far from him.
The attacks in the big front group prevent him from coming back in the descent, even with Mendes giving his all to bring Mondory back.
At the front, Battaglin has attacked...
A decisive move, as he takes the win in this 2014 edition.

TROFEO ZSSDI | 123 KM
RACE PROFILE:
| | Garikoitz Bravo | | | Stefan Denifl | | | Patrick Konrad | | | Leon Wagner | | | Bruno Pires | | | José Mendes | | | Sam Vandenborre |
Our next race takes us to Italy. Trofeo Zssdi will be held in and around the capital of the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region, the beautiful city of Trieste.
We're up against some strong riders here. Battaglin is doing really well lately and can be considered as the man who others will have to beat if they want to win. Rabottini, Pirazzi and Rosa could also come close to the win.
We don't have a clear leader for this race, but Mendes, Konrad and Pires normally are the best climbers. Let's see how things turn out during the race.

TROFEO ZSSDI | 123 KM
After some unsuccesful attempts, there are two riders the bunch lets go:
| Ariesen | | Vandenborre |
The rainy circumstances make this a hard race, but the duo from the Low Countries have a good cooperation. But they don't stand a chance against the strong bunch today.
Rabottini is the first to attack. At the beginning of the final climb, he has a small gap on Battaglin.
Rabottini's strong enough to keep off the Bardiani rider.
Almost two minutes later, Mendes sprints to take 8th.

Sometimes, Stefan still doesn't feel completely comfortable when riding close to other moving objects. We're talking about cars, not about other riders.
We can't blame him for that after his horrible crash during the 2011 Tour of California. Only a few months after the terrible accident that killed his then teammate Wouter Weylandt, he faced death himself.
Yesterday, he once again wasn't lucky. He fell in a slippery corner and couldn't get out of his clip-in in time. His knee hit a parked car and in the Trieste hospital, the doctor's diagnosis was harsh:
ruptured cruciate ligaments, and we will not see him back in a race soon, at least not before the start of April.
