He certainly did and you can tell he really worked hard for it with the shot of him walking back to the interview with a awesome pain face. Demare really rocketed home when you watch it from the overhead shot. Griepel is really struggling against the younger guys, losing Henderson was a blow but he just lacks that kick against the these guys

Kristoff seems ready for tomorrows stage Wonder if he can beat Sagan there, and maybe Spartacus

Sagan is by far the smartest man so far in the race. He just keep sitting on Kittels wheel and get some big points for Green jersey, what he came here for. But even with rides like that, he has two 4th and two 2nd places, which is really good.

Degenkolb to very much be in the mix there, I'm sure Giant fancies that stage a lot as well, and it's not like they are too tired by now.

Kristoff's leadout man (Porsev?) swung off about 50m too early - you could see Kristoff hesitating before taking up the sprint; maybe if he had hung on just that extra bit then he could have won.

Agree with everything you say here, Sagan is playing his Green jersey run perfectly and barring a accident its pretty much sewn up.
So what do you guys think, Voeckler's effort today was all about riding himself into form?

It can't have been about getting some early KoM points as he should've been going for the first point then.

Omega gave a bit of a scare to Kittel, didn't work though. But it seems that's the only way to fight Kittel's supremacy, is by trying to disrupt Giant's train before it forms up.

Last forecast I saw predicting rain tomorrow too. With shortened cobbled sections compared to P-R and at only 155km I'd still go for tough sprinter/classics guys like Degenkolb or Kristoff though. |

This. No Cav has taken a lot away from the sprint finishes for this Tour because unexpectedly Greipel sucks. |

I disagree. Had Renshaw not forced him to launch a 300m sprint after Kristoff, I reckon he'd have taken that comfortably

Exactly. He closed down 3-4 bike lengths on Kristoff. The rest profited from the slipstream, yet couldn't beat him. |

Did he not get the first climb then? Teach me to try to pick the (limited) fore thought from Voeckler randomness. |

I have the feeling we won't end this stage with the same amount of GC favourites left in the race like we start it with...
Indeed that makes me wonder now if Giant is ready to risk any of their valuable train members to crash in order to chase and keep Dege in a good position.
Or to expand, maybe none of the stage favourites that have more goals than that stage will really be ready to go all-in.
Yeah, pussy thinking, but imagine Sagan DNFing and giving up another almost certain green jersey for a possible stage win.

As far as I remember he let Mate have it. You could imagine the situation that the Cofidis DS told him they wouldn't continue to cooperate if Mate can't get the KoMs gifted in order to keep Lemoine safe in the jersey, but Tommy would be stupid to think this break could've gone all the way anyway.
I was absolutely certain he did today for the 2 points, so I am still puzzled.

Seems like any top 10 hopes Cofidis might have had are long gone - guess it's possible they were only ever up for stage wins though. Navarro losing more time today and already at nearly 4 minutes down. |
