@sutty and @Freitas: He's done very well so far, we'll see what happens later. The time-trial on the last stage is where he'll lose time to people like Wiggins who are right behind him.
@SSJ2: the dutchmen are doing quite well aren't they

Spoiler I have finally got round to downloading the PCM.daily Expansion Pack so that's why all the cars, advertising, sprints and jerseys are different from before
GP DE ROMANDIE
STAGE 3 MONTBÉLIARD - MOUTIER
Today was another fairly hilly day with a flat finish, should be a mass sprint between the climbers. We would be looking to get Kreuziger some bonus seconds at the end to cement his position at the top of the GC.
After gaining some mountain points in the previous stage I thought that I would be in with a good chance for the KoM jersey so I decided to attack and try and join the breakaway
Unfortunately the rest of the break got reeled back in and I was left on my own.
I waited a bit more but no one else was willing to attack so I would have to do it solo!
I take the 5 points that are handed to me on a plate at the first mountain sprint
: It was very tough being at the front of the race on my own and the peloton kept up a relentless pace throughout, never letting the gap above three minutes. On the ascent to Les Ecorcheresses; I was being caught quickly - I had to get the 8 points at the top though!
I raise my arms in mock triumph as I cross the mountain sprint first, but attacks were happening everywhere behind me so I decided to sit up and return to the peloton, with 13 points in the bag
And it's Michele Scarponi who sets off on the offensive!
He was followed by strong climbers Devenyns, Tschopp and Dupont; and they quickly got the gap up to 3 and a half minutes without the peloton caring at all
Now with just 20kms to go the gap was still around 3 minutes so; aided by some good pace-setting from Sky, decided to up the tempo a bit. The peloton was smashing into pieces behind us and already Cantwell and Pires from Saxo Bank had disappeared off the back
5km left and Sky dropped off the pace-setting but all our riders bar Kroon and Kreuziger had completely run out of energy; meaning we couldn’t pace-set effectively. No other teams wanted to help us and it looked like the Scarponi group would coast to victory; with a gap of still a minute and a half
Kreuziger has had enough and decides to set out in a late bid to protect his yellow jersey
With 2km to go for Kreuziger he overhauls Dupont and Tschopp but Devenyns was a further 30 seconds up the road and Scarponi 20 seconds more
Kreuziger's brave attempt ends in failure as he is about to be passed by the frontrunners of the reduced peloton, but Devenyns was nearly caught - just Scarponi to go for Kreuziger to retain his yellow jersey!
Scarponi holds on to win the stage with Wout Poels, who left the sprint a bit late, storming up on his right; but crucially he's in the same group as Kreuziger so the yellow jersey is safe for now!
I crossed the line two groups back after my earlier exertions, in 43rd place
My first appearance on a podium! It felt great to stand up there and celebrate with everyone clapping! And those two nice girls next to me as well

For me a very successful day as I am now in front in the mountains classification. The penultimate stage, a mountain stage, will be very important in the KoM standings as it features three first category climbs! Tomorrow is an easier day, though, quite like today.
See you there

@sutty: yep should be an interesting time-trial at the end He's quite proud of his jersey - it's actually pink I think
@Ian: Still lots of KoM points available in the next two stages though so he'll have to work hard

GP DE ROMANDIE
STAGE 4 LA NEUVEVILLE - CHARMEY
A bit of a flatter day today but an uphill finish compensates for that.
We're away on the fourth stage and I have my mountain jersey to savour! It's pink and it makes me feel like I'm leading the Giro! I also had a little chat with points jersey holder Poels who is on my left just before the start.
The BotD formed without much fuss and contained: Nico Sijmens, Matteo Bono, Alexander Kushchynski, Nikolas Maes and Svein Tuft and they built up quite a substantial lead - up to 9 minutes at points.
It was a quiet day in the peloton today so far, no radical attacks or mishaps yet
Since no-one else seems to be bothered, we decide to take over pace-setting duties to prevent the lead from spiralling out of control
Kushchynski takes the major points on offer at Le Chatelard (the second category climb) meaning he closes the gap to within just 3 points of me in the mountain standings
Peter Velits goes to ground! Not that Katusha's Maxim Belkov seems to mind.
25km to go and I was put on to the front of the peloton as most of the others had run out of energy after setting the pace for about 60kms
The attacks started to appear with Chris Horner, Emanuele Sella and Christophe Riblon the main instigators. However, we wouldn't let them get away
The break was reeled in with just under 10kms to go and so from now on it was uphill and plenty of attacks. Kreuziger was still going strong but wouldn't get much support from the rest of us
Johann Tschopp managed to get away and get a 30 second lead
Attack by Rui Costa! He bridges the gap to Tschopp but the pack was closing in fast
With 3 kms to go they are brought back along with Iglinskiy who followed them by Scarponi and van Garderen who were up front in the pack
1.5km to go and the sprint is launched with Kreuziger, Scarponi, Iglinskiy, Costa, van Garderen and Riblon all at the front and in with a chance
Just 500m left and Kreuziger is out in the lead but Brajkovic on his right is coming up very strongly!
Kreuziger wins the stage! He’s ahead of Brajkovic and van Garderen is third, just fighting off an accelerating Wiggins. Could this Tour of Romandie get any better for him?
I'm 39th in the front group of 59
A day to savour for the team as Kreuziger wins the stage and, crucially, opens up a gap of 11 seconds to Brajkovic, who's in second place, in the GC.

Despite the best efforts of the Belarussian champion, I retain my lead in the KoM classification, but only narrowly. With a whole heap of points up for grabs tomorrow I would have to try and attack!

GP DE ROMANDIE
STAGE 5 BULLE - SION
Today would be a tough day in the mountains before the crucial time-trial tomorrow and it would be very easy for Kreuziger to lose time here. Also there are 117 mountain points available today including 12 for each of the three 1st category climbs!
I was off on the offensive right from the start, wanting to secure the mountains jersey
Two large groups of riders got away (including me - second on the right) but the peloton seemed intent on bringing them back
The back group was caught but the peloton decided to let the front group get away which consisted of myself, Tom Danielson, Jose Serpa, Mitchell Docker, Remi Pauriol and Kristijan Koren. The good news - none of them had scored any mountain points yet!
Serpa is first over the first category Col des Mosses with me in second!
A very steep downhill followed - I had to be careful to avoid falling on the twisting roads
Serpa also took the first intermediate sprint, with me following closely behind. The others decided not to contest it
Suddenly, with still 100km to go, the peloton (headed by Astana) stepped on the gas and our 5 minute advantage was quickly down to 3. I decided to do the pace at the front of the break, hoping to get up to the next climb before we were caught
The second intermediate sprint provided us with the same result as the first
56kms to go and the peloton is closing in quickly. Movistar rider Branislau Samoilau has decided to try and bridge the gap and is coming up quite quickly towards the break
Pauriol wins the 2nd category sprint Basse-Nendaz with Serpa 2nd but I'm a disappointing 4th. The battle for KoM is hotting up! I now have 29 points and Serpa has 18, but he’s looking the stronger of the two of us and he could easily win it if he wins the next two sprints
As the gradients get around 14% on the climb the membership of the break has changed slightly. Samoilau, Riblon and Horner have joined us and Docker and Koren have fallen behind
It's Chris Horner who wins the mountain sprint at Veysonnaz. Samoilau is 2nd and I am 3rd! However, Serpa seems to have blown his energy and can’t score any points on this climb. This means I’ve won the KoM jersey!!
Meanwhile, unnoticed to me, the peloton had been destroyed and only 35 riders remained! Kreuziger and Kroon were the only Saxo Bank men in those 35; and also a group including points-jersey holder Poels had attacked. Chaos!
Here's me getting caught with the yellow-clad Kreuziger on the right
Attacks were flying around everywhere as everybody was desperate to get to the top of the mountain at St Martin first so they could create a gap during the long descent that followed. The main attackers were Menchov, Scarponi, van Garderen and Brajkovic (all pictured here)
Kruijswijk crests the summit first, followed by Brajkovic and Scarponi, the three of them had inititated an attack earlier and stretched out a little gap but the group of 20 or so favourites and pseudo-favourites behind them were bringing them back
The group of favourites about to go under the 10k banner
Denis Menchov launches the sprint with 1.7km to go
700m to go and it's Thomas de Gendt out in front on the right, powering through the field. Kreuziger is tailed by van Garderen just to his left and the surprise pairing of de Greef and Iglinskiy are not out of it on the left
It's Thomas de Gendt who celebrates by garrotting his arm on the wire fence! Kreuziger started his sprint too early and faded to finish 8th
I finish just in front of my team-mate Rafal Majka, exactly 5 minutes down on de Gendt which isn't bad considering I used all my energy on the climbs earlier in the race
I receive a peck on the cheek for my efforts today I'm elated at the moment to have won the mountains jersey - it's a great feeling.
1 | | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | 4h47'31 | 2 | | Rui Costa | Movistar Team | s.t. | 3 | | Wout Poels | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Pro Cycling | s.t. | 5 | | Maxim Iglinskiy | Astana Pro Team | s.t. | 6 | | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | 7 | | Michele Scarponi | Lampre-ISD | s.t. | 8 | | Roman Kreuziger | Team Saxo Bank | s.t. | 9 | | Francis De Greef | Lotto Belisol | s.t. | 10 | | Johann Tschopp | BMC Racing Team | s.t. | ... | 28 | | Matthias Fischer | Team Saxo Bank | + 5'00 |
Kreuziger still heads up the GC but de Gendt has now moved up to second after his victory here today.
1 | | Roman Kreuziger | Team Saxo Bank | 17h40'50 | 2 | | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 10 | 3 | | Wout Poels | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | s.t. | 4 | | Janez Brajkovic | Astana Pro Team | + 11 | 5 | | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | + 12 | 6 | | Rui Costa | Movistar Team | + 14 | 7 | | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Pro Cycling | + 16 | 8 | | Michele Scarponi | Lampre-ISD | s.t. | 9 | | Jakob Fuglsang | Radioshack - Nissan | + 19 | 10 | | Christian Vandevelde | Garmin - Barracuda | s.t. | ... | 29 | | Matthias Fischer | Team Saxo Bank | + 6'39 |
Confirmation of my victory which was a lot closer than it looked:
1 | | Matthias Fischer | Team Saxo Bank | 35 | 2 | | José Serpa | Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela | 18 | 3 | | Aleksandr Kuschynski | Katusha Team | 17 |
Tomorrow is the crucial stage - see you there

GP DE ROMANDIE
STAGE 6 CRANS-MONTANA - CRANS-MONTANA
Today is the big day of the Tour of Romandie! Roman Kreuziger will have to put in a great performance today to beat some of the names behind him who are more proficient at time-trialling like Bradley Wiggins, Janez Brajkovic and Tejay van Garderen.
The route is quite tricky, but picturesque for the spectator!
Just look at that for a scenic road!
Team-mate Manuele Boaro has a great run and is top of the provisional leaderboard when he crosses the line
I was away with a steely-eyed look and my lovely pink jersey on!
The first part of the course was a perilous downhill section and, it not being my forte, I had to be very careful
Then there was some tough climbing
Sorry for posting so many photos but it's just such a beautiful course. You can see the yellow 1km to go banner up on the top of the hill behind me - still a ways to go!
Wow! I had set the best provisional time at the intermediate time-check! 20 seconds ahead of Alexander Vinokourov who was in provisional 2nd! I realised that I had committed the cardinal sin again - going too hard too early so I would probably have to rein it in a bit in the second half
Another picturesque photo!
My fears are proved incorrect as I set the best provisional time upon reaching the finish - 3 seconds ahead of Vinokourov in second place! I'm astonished!
That provisional time wouldn’t stand, however, as the big names were still to come.
First up was Wiggins, who had a very disappointing time-trial indeed. Widely tipped as the favourite to take the stage and the overall victory , he could only manage a disappointing 13th place.
Van Garderen has a good but not great run, finishing 8th
In fourth place in the GC is Brajkovic who puts in a good run and finishes 7th as a large snowflake settles on the camera. I'm starting to get excited now with just three riders to come!
Roman Kreuziger sets the best intermediate time as he is the last one to cross the time-check! What a performance so far from the Czech!
De Gendt put in a little bit of a below-par performance today and so his GC chances faded. Now it was just Kreuziger who could beat me!
Kreuziger comes across the line with a determined look on his face and... wins the time trial at Crans-Montana! What a tour he's had! And even more unbelievable - I am second in the end! Wow!
Roman is delighted to have secured the GC for the GP de Romandie! In the end he dominated the field, with a margin of 30 seconds over Rui Costa in second
I can celebrate my KoM victory once again!
So here's the results of the stage, I'm still in shock! Also Karsten Kroon put in another great performance to finish 5th - he's had a great Tour of Romandie as well
1 | | Roman Kreuziger | Team Saxo Bank | 30'25 | 2 | | Matthias Fischer | Team Saxo Bank | + 6 | 3 | | Alexandre Vinokourov | Astana Pro Team | + 10 | 4 | | Rui Costa | Movistar Team | + 16 | 5 | | Karsten Kroon | Team Saxo Bank | + 22 | 6 | | Michele Scarponi | Lampre-ISD | s.t. | 7 | | Janez Brajkovic | Astana Pro Team | + 26 | 8 | | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | + 27 | 9 | | Jakob Fuglsang | Radioshack - Nissan | + 31 | 10 | | Maxim Iglinskiy | Astana Pro Team | + 33 |
I finish a bit further up in the GC thanks to my efforts today - 28th isn't bad at all
1 | | Roman Kreuziger | Team Saxo Bank | 18h11'15 | 2 | | Rui Costa | Movistar Team | + 30 | 3 | | Janez Brajkovic | Astana Pro Team | + 37 | 4 | | Michele Scarponi | Lampre-ISD | + 38 | 5 | | Tejay Van Garderen | BMC Racing Team | + 39 | 6 | | Wout Poels | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 45 | 7 | | Thomas De Gendt | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 50 | 8 | | Jakob Fuglsang | Radioshack - Nissan | s.t. | 9 | | Bradley Wiggins | Sky Pro Cycling | + 51 | 10 | | Maxim Iglinskiy | Astana Pro Team | + 56 | 11 | | Christian Vandevelde | Garmin - Barracuda | + 1'06 | 12 | | Maxime Monfort | Radioshack - Nissan | + 1'10 | 13 | | Steven Kruijswijk | Rabobank Cycling Team | s.t. | 14 | | Jean-Christophe Péraud | Ag2r La Mondiale | + 1'11 | 15 | | Johnny Hoogerland | Vacansoleil-DCM Pro Cycling Team | + 1'14 | 16 | | Johann Tschopp | BMC Racing Team | + 1'25 | 17 | | Denis Menchov | Katusha Team | + 1'33 | 18 | | Hubert Dupont | Ag2r La Mondiale | + 1'42 | 19 | | Emanuele Sella | Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela | + 1'46 | 20 | | Dries Devenyns | Omega Pharma - Quick Step | + 2'22 | ... | 28 | | Matthias Fischer | Team Saxo Bank | + 6'45 |
And I even managed to sneak into the top 10 Points Classification which was also won by Kreuziger after his time-trial efforts today

Well, well, well! I'm so pleased about the results that the team and myself in particular have achieved here so I get a month's rest for my efforts I'll be back soon with a short preview of the Giro
Spoiler SPECIAL FEATURE: Matthias will be doing an in-depth report of two of the stages from the Giro d'Italia, similar to his reports from Paris-Roubaix and Ronde van Vlaanderen. The selection of the two stages for the special report - up to YOU to decide which one's you'd like to hear about

Not much has happened elsewhere but we sent a small squad of lesser riders off to Spain to compete in the Vuelta a Asturias and the Vuelta a Madrid. Not much really happened, Jaroslaw Marycz grabbed a top 10 place in the ITT in the 2-day Vuelta a Madrid and Jesus Hernandez Blazquez finished 13th in the GC in Asturias and 14th in Madrid. The Vuelta a Asturias was won by Jose Ivan Gutierrez and the Vuelta a Madrid by Simon Spilak.
After a spat with the management that has been uncovered in the last few days over the leadership of the team in the Giro del Trentino; Team Saxo Bank have released a statement to say that the contract of Daniel Navarro Garcia will not be renewed for next season. Daniel will continue with the team for the rest of the season and will race alongside me in the Vuelta a Espana later this year, but after that he will be free to join another team. Meanwhile the team has announced the re-signing of Chris Anker Sorensen and Troels Vinther, both with contracts lasting until 2015.
UPDATE ON THE BASQUE COUNTRY!
A small announcement this one, but the Basque team Euskaltel-Euskadi have announced that they will be entering into a sponsor partnership with Barcelona-based airline Vueling Airlines from next year; meaning the team name may be set to become Euskaltel-Vueling!
