Savio must feel like a big idiot now
"Rujano did not have a condition that prevented him from continuing the Giro. The team doctor examined him and did not find anything particular," said Savio, who emphasized that Rujano "is far from the spirit of the team. I was disappointed."
And Andy is a true legend continuing his amazing habits
“I’m not necessarily looking for a place on the GC but I’m going to try and test myself on the Col de Joux-Plane,” Schleck told Velochrono.fr. “The Dauphiné isn’t an objective in itself.”

Nothing to see, just move on.
Andy Schleck must be one of the most disappointing cyclists in the peloton. Outside of the Tour of course. There he sometimes has a bright moment.

I'll be content if he does test himself in Joux Plane. It could be pretty cool if the climbers go crazy there, and it's not like he has any chance to win the Dauphiné anyway with that route.

Hmm, the TdSuisse field is much weaker than dauphine this year..(provisional startlist)
AG2R - Gadret/Roche
Astana - Kiserlovski/Kessiakoff
BMC - Frank/Tschopp
FDJ - Pinot
Euskaltel - Anton/Nieve
Garmin - Danielson
Katusha - Spilak
Lampre - Cunego
Liquigas - no one (Sagan for sprints/hilly stages)
Lotto - no one (De Greef LOL)
Movistart - Valverde
Omega Quick - Leipheimer/Velits
GreenEdge - Weening?
Rabobank - Gesink/Mollema/Kruijswijk
Radioshack - Horner/Klöden/F Schleck
Sky - Nordhaug/Löfkvist
Saxo Bank - CA Sorensen
Spidertech - no one
TT1 - no one (A Efimkin?)
Vacansoleil - Poels/Hoogerland
So basically... Rabobank 3 + Radioshack 3 + Leipheimer for the win.. |

Why does Rabobank bring their GC trio together to Suisse? Wouldn't it be better to have one in the Dauphiné?

No they want them to race together because they have to do the same in the Tour. Sort of teambuilding thing to see how it goes with 3 'captains'.
Kelderman is in the Dauphine. I wonder how he will do as a 'leader' |

Are all three of them racing the Tour?
That's a strange tactic if you ask me. Why not give them a GT each, or send Mollema to the Giro and the Vuelta? Doesn't make sense to me.

Yea. Prestige of the Tour. Nobody in Netherlands except cycling fans cares much about anything in cycling - except Tour and maybe Amstel. A good show is needed from Rabobank there. Not the best idea imo, but well there's a reasoning behind it.
Same with Sky. Prefer to sacrifice Top 10 in GC for a win for Cav as it just means more publicity and prestige.

Strange tactic? Nah, not compared to the team they sent to the Giro
But from a Dutch sponsor's perspective, the Tour is pretty much the only race broadcast completely live on Dutch public television. For all the other races cycling fans from the Netherlands have to turn to Eurosport or Belgian Sporza. As such, they pretty much have to send all their top Dutch riders to the Tour for publicity reasons.
Also, I think Rabo's management is under the impression Gesink has matured a lot, and that he will be able to handle a 3 week Tour and score a top 5, so they're sending a full squad in his support. |

Just to point out. Gesink had only scored one Top 5 at the Tour
Gesink has to be one of the bigger favourites along Wiggo and Evans. His TT improved greatly and if stays on the bike should contend here and I wouldn't be surprised if he wins.

Well, that explains it a bit.
Still think it's a bit stupid to sacrifice Mollema's and Kruijswijk's own chances just to support Gesink. Especially Mollema deserves a better role than to serve other riders if you ask me.

Tbh I think Rabobank isn't going to do much, except seeing how far the 3 of them get and who is the strongest. So I think Kruijswijk and Mollema will have a free role, unless Gesink gets yellow or when he is clearly the strongest. |

Kloden as he's the only one with good TT needed to win here. But as in many races, those 3 will race and the one feeling best will get to lead. Kloden is most likely, but Horner if feels good might get a nod too.

Well just to clear this up Mononucleosis isn't that big of an excuse like you're making it believe. I mean, it can present in a really nasty fashion, but it can also be clinically silent, so just because they found out the antibodies in his body, it doesn't necessarily mean he couldn't be able to perform better.
That said, one has to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Ehm, aren't you forgetting the guy who has won as many Tour prep races as the rest of the startlist combined?
