Those schedules are really nice. Great that Willy will lead a GT! Nice that there are so much TT kms in the TdF...

But no other signings for Argos - Shimano, or guys who left?
Spoiler
I want WILCO!!! Pfft

Can't wait till the new season begins. The team is getting stronger and stronger. Hope Slagter does the same in TDU as he did in real life a few months ago Wink

Nice schedules - don't think the TDU has appeared in any of your stories before (im probably wrong with this) so that will be interesting to follow.
Nice to see the pair going back to the Tour - what are the mountain stages like?

rogvi97 - Thanks, Purito was an unexpected and great signing. Hope he can do well here at Argos Wink

Jesleyh - Kelderman's contract ends in 2014, maybe we'll contact him Wink Slagter already managed 3th in Tour Down Under 2013 (ingame), so he'll be wanting more this time! I like the duo Slagter - Van Gent. Especially in races like TDU, Milan - San Remo...

Stromeon - I think you're right, it might be my first Tour Down Under on this forum Grin Unfortunately I only have the Cyanide Variant Pack, so it's the Tour profile from 2012 again, so last year's tour Wink

BikeRoel
Wow very nice season preview, and nice comment from stijn about willy in the tour of california.

STOP POSTING SO I CAN KEEP UP!!!!! Pfft

Nice results in the last competitions of the season. Well done Wink.

Spoiler
Is Stijn racing on the E4? Pfft

Nice shedules Wink
but why no GT for Costa?
Winners never quit, quitters never win.

It's difficult not to be happy when you're surrounded by Belgians. - Mark Cavendish

Great to see that Willy will ride the Tour de France Smile

Schleck96
Rodriguez is a very good signing, I hope he proves it.

Jakstar22
Rodriguez Joining the team. Didnt expect that. and a great scheule for Willy and Stijn

BikeRoel - Thanks a lot, mate! Glad with every banana I can get Grin

Daggen - E4 is not on the calendar, no Pfft E2 and E1 coming up, though! Wink

PCM rulezz - Costa is trying something new. His idea is that, because of his recuperation, he might be a much better rider for one week stage races. He just wants to try that out this year, peaking for several one week races Smile

sutty68 - Let's hope he has another good time there. Though I really hope he can get another Grand Tour next year. He doesn't want to turn into those riders who only care about the Tour (not saying any names Pfft)

Schleck96 - Thanks! He's 34 now, so he'll be losing a bit of power soon. Though he's hoping for some more nice results and to pass on his knowledge to Slagter, Willy...

Jakstar22 - It was decided on the final possible day Smile Thanks!

Thanks everyone! Will start the Tour Down Under later today!

Stijn Van Gent

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 1

Welcome to the first cycling event in 2014! Beg my pardon, the Australian National Championships were the first, where Simon Clarke took the jersey for a year.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder01_zpsf1171896.jpg

Last year we had surprising winner Tony Martin, with Tom Slagter on the podium. This year, he returns for a better place. It won't be easy, with Gilbert here, but he'll do his best. I'm along for the ride and I hope to grab a stage win!

I was ready for the first race of 2014! May this season be even better than last year's!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder02_zps60f96c4a.jpg

Of course, the stage ended in a sprint. The lead-outs were not present and the sprint would be quite chaotic. (PCM sprinting bug...) So Veelers threw himself in the sprint, taking me along!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder03_zpsc63726dd.jpg

However, it was a long way to the finish yet...

Démare takes the first of the season! I finish 4th, a nice result.

I guess fourth is a great start. Let's hope I can take a stage win here!

Me fellow countrymen from Sporza are here too, of course. So I pleasured them with an interview, since Cavendish didn't want to talk after his 2nd place. Sorry about the ending, though, I don't know why they would ask that, but I guess that's the toll you pay for coming up in the world of cycling.

Sporza: Stijn, glad to see you here Down Under. It's your first time here?
S. Van Gent: It is. The atmosphere is fantastic here. I didn't expect such an audience outside of Europa, but they prove me wonderfully wrong!
Sporza: You finish fourth on your first day of the season. What can be expect from Stijn Van Gent in 2014?
S. Van Gent: I'd rather you wouldn't expect anything [laughs]. Last season was a real breakthrough year and I plan to make this one even better.
Sporza: On your blog, you already released some information about your schedule. Tour de France?
S. Van Gent: You read my blog? Wow... Yeah, I'll probably be going to the Tour, hoping for maybe another stage win.
Sporza: Belgium has got their hopes up. They see you as the follow-up for Tom Boonen.
S. Van Gent: I understand that. But I'm not Tom Boonen. However, I'm a bit the same kind of rider. If I can have his palmares at the end of my career, I'll consider myself a very happy man, though.
Sporza: How was your winter?
S. Van Gent: Hard to say. I trained a lot. I'll let my results speak for themselves, that all right?
Sporza: Is it true that your girlfriend left you this winter because you spent too much time on your bike?
S. Van Gent: No comment. Have to go now, bye.

Willy Wouters

Hi everyone,

Nothing much to report on my behalf. I'm in Spain at the moment, training. Just wanted to let you know I've made some progress here the last couple of weeks. I'm really hoping for a new chance at the WC ITT.
I've been doing a lot of work with Rodriguez here, he's a real beast. He's teaching me how to race classics. I don't really like one day races, but he's showing me the beauty of them. Maybe I'll consider riding those next season!
Anyhow, let's hope Stijn can score a stage win Down Under!
Willy

A nice start from Stijn, now giving Farrar and Cavendish a run for their money Wink

Santos Tour Down Under - Stage 2

This stage is a tough one, very hilly. I see this as a big test. I've been training more uphill than usually, so let's see if it worked out and I can finish in the front group here.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder201_zpse771ceab.jpg

Today the pace was quite hard, actually. The breakaway was dangerous and it was a tough one to reel in.

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder202_zps290654ba.jpg

We tried to show absolute trust in Slagter's abilities, so we did some work for him today!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder203_zpsa81f8717.jpg

Because of our work, we managed to keep everything together and we shielded off attacks. We came to the finish with a group of less than 20! The good news? Gilbert and Schleck lost time yesterday, so Slagter is placed excellent either way!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder204_zpse28502fb.jpg

Schleck took the win, once again proving how he managed to change his career and his life around for the better! Surprisingly I finish tenth. If I can finish in the top 10 in a stage like this, I must have a pretty good form!

i1322.photobucket.com/albums/u569/IanButlerPCM2/downunder205_zpsb577a239.jpg

Well, it turns out my uphill training has not been for naught. Can't wait for Milan - San Remo!

nice a 3rd place in the TDU GC, and that with only 10 seconds behind great job. Hope you get a win with Slagter too. Like the blog Willy is writing now, training with the big man Joaquim Rodriguez Pfft

Stijn got dumped by his girl? Too bad. Although I always had this feeling he and Willy were a bit too close, if you know what I mean Wink

And it would be so you to break one of the last cycling taboos as a major plot twist..

Also: great racing! Grin
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.
