Yeah, Sorry about the wait, am I allowed to say that I'll get it done soon?

People only got annoyed because twice you said a report would be up tonight and it didn't happen.

Well it wouldn't be such a problem if it was just an extra day to finish off the race with the rest having been posted consistently over 1/2 weeks. As it is we will pass 1 month of this race tomorrow, which everyone would agree is too long. More so when you consider the amount of races that have been done in that month.

Your reports are good, we just need more of them quicker!

@everyone especially TMM

I don't know what I can really say, sorry it's taking so long, does anybody know a way to make reports quicker though? 1 to 1 and a half hours for a race and that again for the report is making it take ages for me.

Anyway:

www.ciclismointernacional.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/san-luis-2015.jpg

The mountains, where Peter Sagan will face his greatest challenge, where Kelderman, Betancur, Henao, Arredondo and Kangert will all try to take the yellow jersey from his shoulders, while other climbers attempt to win the queen stage. There is only one mountain though and it's followed by about 25km of flat, which is enough for riders to catch up. It's anyone's day today.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0556.jpg

The peloton lets the first 6 riders to attack stay away, meaning that Boswell (NetApp), Cummings (Sky), Pires (Colombia), Arroyo (Caja), Gerdemann (MTN) and Busche (Trek) are away.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0557.jpg

The break simply rolls over the line for the sprint, Busche leads them, followed by Boswell and Gerdemann.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0558.jpg

The climb has only reached small gradients, with nothing significant for the next kilometre, but that doesn't stop Dario Cataldo (BMC) from attacking, all the favourites are straight on his wheel but Orica, despite having Weening with the group, pulls the group back, the break has 2 minutes 45 on the peloton.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0560.jpg

Interesting tactics by Cannondale, with Sagan and Burton sitting on the front and slowing the pace, perhaps to stop other favourites from taking time bonuses? A chance to rest? The break takes advantage of this and steals a minute back. 33km to go.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0562.jpg

Tanel Kangert (Giant) sees the opportunity! Sagan (Cannondale) isn't letting anything away, despite it not being his favourite terrain and Weening (Orica), follows them. 23km to go and the break has 3 minutes!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0563.jpg

Wilco Kelderman (Belkin) knows that his GC chances are slipping away and chases the yellow jersey group, which is a minute ahead of the peloton. Where is Bentancur, Henao and Arredondo though?

The break ahead still had 2 minutes on the yellow jersey group.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0565.jpg

Bentancur (Ag2r) finally gets away with Sebastien Henao and Bonnaford, they catch Kelderman, who has blown up and Betancur attacks, but the Sagan group keeps getting further away.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0570.jpg

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0567.jpg

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0568.jpg

Betancur catches Sagan, Kangert and Weening, Sergio Henao (Sky) finally catches the group containing his younger brother, Kelderman and Bonnaford and Arredondo (Caja) decides he doesn't need teammates and is singlehandedly, trying to pull the breakaway back, despite the attempts of his teammates to move forward.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0572.jpg

The break isn't interested in mountain points, so Cummings leads over the climb.

The time gaps at the top of the climb are:

Cummings, Arroyo, Busche, Pires, Boswell
+16" Gerdemann
+58" Kangert, Betancur, Sagan, Weening
+2'12" Henao, Henao, Bonnafond, Kelderman
+3'00" Peloton (led by Arredondo)

There is now 19km to go, which are more or less flat.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0573.jpg

David Arroyo (Caja) looks back and isn't happy, so he attacks his companions in an attempt to stay away, the rest of the break ignores his move.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0575.jpg

Tejay Van Garderen (BMC) finally remembers that he wants to win the race and attacks, Arredondo, Monfort (Trek) and Hinteruller (MTN) follow the attack.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0576.jpg

Henao sees the chance, 21 seconds on Kelderman would give him a spot on the podium, provided Kangert and Weening don't get the 20 seconds they need, so he attacks for a podium position, behind, Bonnafond won't chase back Betancur ahead, Henao would never chase down his brother, which leaves Kelderman, to put it all out on the road for his podium chances.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0577.jpg

10km to go! Cummings and Busche have sprinted right passed Arroyo and are going out alone!

Time Gaps at 10km to go:

Cummings, Busche
+19" Arroyo
+47" Pires, Boswell
+1'23" Gerdemann
+1'32" Betancur, Kangert, Weening, Sagan
+2'14" Henao
+2'35" Kelderman, Bonnafond, Henao
+2'51" Van Garderen
+3'11" Arredondo
+3'55" Peloton 1
+6'06" Peloton 2

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0578.jpg

5km left! No changes in groups, but the Sagan group is going the fastest pulling back everybody in front and gaining time on those behind.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0580.jpg

1km to go! It's painful just watching Arroyo, but he won't make it, the sprint is between Cummings and Busche.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0582.jpg

Cummings is just ahead, but Busche is trying to get round, can he do it?!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0584.jpg

Cummings takes the queen stage of the Tour de San Luis! By a matter of millimetres over Busche!

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0587.jpg

Arroyo crosses the line, 3rd, for all that effort. Peter Sagan pulls off a giant sprint, as to be expected, passing Pires and Boswell to take 4th, with a time gap to the other contenders, it doesn't seem like there is any doubt, baring a crash, that he will lose the race.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0588_1.jpg

Betancur rides through the crowd for 5th, with Pires in 6th, Kangert, who may have moved up to 3rd in GC today, takes 7th, Boswell rounds off a good day in 8th, smartly chooses to avoid the spectators, who are stupid enough to stand on the road, Weening had a good day on the climb, but his sprint is lacking so his comes in 9th, with a good enough ride to maybe move up to 4th in GC, before the hilly stage that should suit him and Gerdemann is the last of the break and rounds out the top 10.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0589.jpg

The queen stage of the tour de San Luis, a great victory for Steven Cummings.

i1380.photobucket.com/albums/ah164/trekbmc1/PCM0590.jpg

Sagan has worn the yellow every day of the race, it'll be hard to take it off him on the hills and flat to come.

Thanks for the report Smile CCC was invisible today and Nokkvason didn't try anything :/

Didn't see that coming. Hopefully Linus hangs on to 8th, or Josef needs to perform miraculously.

What?, I found two pictures of them the one in the spoiler, and the one where Cataldo was attacking you can see Rebellin's shoulder (polka-dots) Wink and Rebellin did keep the jersey. Wink

Nice top 20 for Juan, made my day to see him growing into his mountain domestique role and supporting Jose until the very end!
Also, exactly in top 100 for Tomohori!

Terrible stage for Caja - Arredondo not responding when needed and slips well down the GC as a result.

Arroyo attempted to salvage it with a stage win, but didn't happen.

Thanks for the report though trek. Reports tend to be quicker to write through experience. I write reports for the ManGame on an ipad as I watch leaving (Picture) spaces. Then I use a PNG - JPEG converter as I check through the pictures and then whack em into an image server and copy paste the links into the report.

It takes about an hour to do the race and about 30 minutes to finalise the report then.

Great report, thanks for that. In general if you're struggling with time, I'd say make the flat stages a bit shorter. Mountain stages should be a bit bigger though, provided there's enough action. I mean, sometimes flat stages give more excitement then mountain ones, etc.

Bad day for Belkin, Kelderman cracking was a bit unexpected. Sebastian Henao was simply outstanding, but in the end it doesn't get me anything.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

jaxika
Interesting tactic from the team but it seems payed off with a stage win and 5th place on the GC Wink

Orica doing well, but unfortunate not to crack the podium Frown

Also, 1 and a half hours for a race is way to much imo; I usually take 20-30 mins on a mountain stage with notes included. That being said, I have a lot of experience so I guess it'll just get better with time, as Smowz said,

Yeah, I'm taking notes, but maybe I need to take them on a computer, writing them out by hand takes ages.

I write them too. It'll just get better with experience really.

I have a feeling that Rebellins decent GC position might have influenced Nokkvason's behaviour. At least I think I have seen that pattern i other races where the "wrong" rider on a team is decently placed going into a queen stage.

As for quicker report definitely write them as you go. I do it on the same computer as I play with changing windows with Alt+Tab, and then I just note in the report/make space every time I take a pic to insert.

A nice report. Strange result but not too odd and luckily doesn't completely mess the GC. I can do an entire race and report in 1 1/2 hours for the MG.... 2-3 hours for the whole thing is massively excessive, i can't even think how it takes that long...

Stage 9

Another flat day. Will Bardiani & Co. get the chase going in due time today?
Same favourites as usual…

8 riders go into the final 100 km with a gap of 3'18
They are: Jarrier, Murphy, Friedemann, Potgieter, Nys, Lapthorne, Boev and Lemoine.
90 km and 4'11
80 km and 3'46
70 km and 3'16
60 km and 2'58
50 km and 2'31
40 km and 1'58
The usual team put in a good effort, at this moment lead by Berg and today even with Impey taking part for Orica.
30 km and 1'25
20 km and 55 seconds
10 km and 34 seconds

Lapthorne gives it a final go with 5 km left

He gives the break a boost and with 2 km to go they still haven't been reeled in all the way. The Bardiani train looks strong though.

Final km and nothing is decided yet

Nys is first into the final 500 m

Terrible timing by the big teams, who had the break well under control all day.

A nice report. Strange result but not too odd and luckily doesn't completely mess the GC. I can do an entire race and report in 1 1/2 hours for the MG.... 2-3 hours for the whole thing is massively excessive, i can't even think how it takes that long...

Really? The race normally takes me atound 2-2.5h and the teport is mostly around 1h-2h...how do you make it that fast?

I use x2-8 in the race. Once the breakaway is formed you can really speed time up. I have it ticked to return to normal time for the IS's so i don't miss anything. Alt-tabing to a Word document to write notes as i play. Obviously depends on the race but doesn't normally take more than 30-45mins
Then because i've been making notes already i just need to edit them into a postable format. Uploading images takes 2-minutes. Add them into the report.
Get it on site, check it and post. Not much more than an hour for a normal stage, longer for key stages or classics. Less for TT's and short stages/broken ai stages.

But i've had plenty of practice through story writing so i've got my method down so i don't even think about what i'm doing, it just kind of happens and i have a report at the end.
