Right, rankings after Lombaria. BMC has come really close to Belkin now, they're ready to overtake the poor dutch team. Garmin has a great season ending and may end up in the top 10 if they can overtake Katusha and Saxo. Argos seems to be safe, and Orica look okayish, as the real battle seems to go between AG2R and Euskaltel.
Androni and Vacansoleil jump over FDJ. It's far away from promotion, but FDJ does need a good budget to keep all their stars. I'll add this nice ranking with the positions that are still unsure, and the points without the two last numbers. Well, maybe it's more of an evil ranking then a nice ranking.
EDIT: colours within a table doesn't seem to work, so you'll have to see for yourself which are still close to each other

Would be great if we could climb a few spots, just to get an allright budget.
btw: How many riders can you have in a pro-conti squad?

Things doesn't look too good for my team next season... Only highlight so far is that we're pretty good at achieving goals ^^

October has traditionally been the end of the professional cycling season, and this time we end with the Tour of Beijing. The WorldTour should be decided here. History
Whereas Beijing and the great wall have existed for centuries, 2013 sees only the third edition of the Tour of Beijing. In 2011 Tony Martin won the race, and in 2012 Tony Martin won the race.
*2012 route has been used due to lack of 2013 route and the large similarity of both routes.
Stage 1 is flat and short. Mass sprint. Next
A hilly-ish stage. The climbs are long, but not very steep, so many sprinters should be able to survive. However, an early escape might make it today.
The Queen stage of this edition leads us towards the Great Wall. With a long climb to Badaling the climbers should be in favour today, at the possible decider of the race.
Another hilly-ish stage. A long downhill should give all sprinters the chance of coming back and sprinting for the win.
At the end we find a stage very similar to the second. The climb once again isn't very steep and most sprinters should hang on.
The Tour of Beijing has a growing popularity. Many strong riders are hoping to obtain the last WorldTour points of the season here. For the climb to Badaling, where the general classifcation will be decided, JoaquÃm RodrÃguez arguably seems the strongest. With the support of Caruso, Vorganov, Paolini and Kolobnev he seems secure for the climbs though. Rigoberto Urán may have even stronger support though. With Sergio Henao, Bradley Wiggins and Edvald Boasson Hagen he seems secure as well. The question is whether he himself is strong enough though. The same goes for Daniel Martin who has an ideal helper in Ryder Hesjedal. With Vande Velde, Navardauskas and Morton by his side as well he surely will be a competitor here. Rui Costa will be another favourite here. He seems to have the weakest support of the top-4 competitors though, with Herrada, Teruel and Szmyd his strongest helpers for the difficult stages. Other competitors for the GC seem to be Cadel Evans, Robert Gesink, Jan Bakelants, Michael Albasini and Fabian Cancellara. However, it seems unlikely they will be stronger than the first four mentioned. The winner of the first two editions, Tony Martin, is highly unlikely to repeat his performance this time with this strong field.
However, the race doesn't just consist of hilly stages. The 3 flat stages should be very suitable for sprinters. The fastest man in this field seems to be the Brit Adrien Hanzen. However, it's questionable how much support he will get given the presence of Uran in the squad. Nacer Bouhanni therefore seems to be another likely option for the sprints. With support of Ladagnous, Offredo, Soupe and others he seems to be the key rider of this squad, instead of his lead climber Pinot. Giacomo Nizzolo seems another good option. He'll have experienced helpers in Danilo Hondo and Hayden Roulston and Alinejad should provide for a good, reliable lead-out, even after a tough race. Fabian Brookes is less likely to perform well here. With O'Callaghan as his only support anywhere it seems unlikely he'll do too well. Nicklas Stromberg hasn't shown very much so far, but with help of Navardauskas he surely can do something at least. Furthermore, some other sprinters could surprise us. Luka Mezgec, Elia Viviani and Daniele Bennati seem the likeliest for that, but even Dehaes, Markus, Pozzato, Meersman and Kruopis could do something.
Finally, we'll take a look at the home team, Champion System. With Christian de Vries they brought their strongest rider for this race. He won't have the strongest support though. Surprisingly Champion System, as a Chinese team, managed to bring 0 Chinese riders to this race.
The riders make the race, together with the route. It's clear that we'll have some entertaining stages, and hopefully we will be able to say that about all stages. The race has its strongest startlist in its very long history, and hopefully for the locals especially the stars like Rodriguez and Cancellara won't let them down.

Good preview, though I'm surprises to see Cancellara as a big favourite. Guess that stage 3 is rated hilly rather than mountanous.
Also Nieve needs to pull his stuff together and start racing by now or he can look forward to being a helper next year...

The first break of the day included V. Feunard, Waytens, Feillu, Koch and Clancy but was quickly closed down by Sky and Bardiani.
Abundi is the only one sprinting for the intermediate so he wins it easily.
Peron and Koch are the first to get a proper gap today.
Abundi takes 3rd on the next intermediate.
50 km and 2’50
Abundi spends energy on yet another uncontested sprint at the 3rd intermediate.
37 km and 2’26
30 km and 1’24
25 km and 1’15
Sioutsou is leading the chase and suddenly the peloton cracks on the small hills. Dermot Walker is the biggest name left behind.
20 km. 52 seconds between the break and the peloton and 58 seconds between the peloton and the 40 chasers.
It’s Bardiani and MTN calling the shots ahead at this point.
15 km and the break is caught while Walker & Co. is now 1’19 behind.
5 km and it’s train-time. Abundi is far behind with no proper train. Perhaps he shouldn’t have used all his energy earlier today?
MTN has the best train into the final 2 km while Kristoff probably has the best position right behind Guido.
Hanzen and Calzone are doing their best to hang on while there’s still no sign of Abasi.
Kennedy makes a powerful leaduot into the final 1,5 km as Sbaragli pushes Kristoff out of Guido’s wheel as he drops back after a job well done.
Modolo takes full advantage to get better placed while Hanzen is also finding his way towards the front.
Final km and Matysiak has brought his captain into the top 10.
MTN still looks very strong though!
Guido starts his sprint with 500 m to go followed by Hanzen and Modolo.
Perfect timing by the young Italian!

Cadel Evans with bib number 111 in Beijing of course. He rushed for that number. Good to see he gets to race against Basso one last time, the only rider who sucks more than him. I thought there was a TT in Beijing so we have no chance now. Last race in the BMC jersey for a few riders. Sad times.
6 EPIC riders in the top 10 in Hainan! Dermot has really got to sort his climbing out. How can you be dropped when Kennedy and Abundi get top 10s?

Bad luck I think. The peloton split and he happened to be in the wrong part at the time.

Good to see my whole team got dropped in Hainan. Saves me from actually caring about the race.
Looking forward to seeing Basso and Evans battle it out one last time in China. |
