Pretty fucking solid ride by Aru, so impressed. This guy is definetely the type of guy to win the Giro someday. And I am also pleased that i proved ruben wrong about Kelderman, the guy is obviously good, but not a top-5 GC rider at this point.
Well, De Gendt has finished 3rd in a GT and i wouldn't call him a top 5 GT rider...
Roche rode well in a weakish Vuelta and got 5th, i still wouldn't call him a top 5 GT rider.

This. One atypical performance shouldn't be taken as his norm.

Aren't you happy .
Kelderman was same level as the others, but all his efforts are taking it's toll and he's totally empty. That's normal ofcourse. He was never as good as the others, but the difference was minimal, now it's a difference of minutes to guys like Aru.
I've got a mindblowing 20 (virtual) dollars on Aru to take the stage. He's in great shape, has some serious motivation for aim for 2nd and if it comes down to him and Quintana, he might just be gifted the stage.
There's a fine line between "psychotherapist" and "psycho the rapist"

IIRC, Roche would have finished ahead of Purito even if he hadn't lost loads of time on one bad day (the Andorra stage). He was riding very well in that Vuelta, and seemed to be more interested in attacking than Purito and especially Valverde. I think you could call him a Top 5 contender for GT's, though the Vuelta is suited best to him. At least better than the Giro or the Tour, as he said himself.
That awkward moment when, in looking back at the pre Giro discussion stuff to see the hilarious prediction fails (they crop up every year), you discover a post by yours truly, ridiculing someone who suggested that Aru might finish top 5 and stating that there were at least two better options for Astana...

Those bad days count though, and from my recollection he always has atleast 1 of them. I stand by my previous statement, he needs to do it again for me to talk about him like a top 5 GT guy.
Usual suspects like Cataldo and Rabottini plus Zoidl, interested to see how he fares, the Tinkoff duo of Roche and Rogers - wonder whether Majka's given them free rein today - and Pellizotti, who looked in good shape yesterday (faster than Majka and others). And of course not to forget Arashiro
