Don't hold out much hope for any other sprinter on the last stage given Cav seems to be getting in better shape all the time and his recovery is phenomenal.
Exactly.
This shows also why's he's usually climbing better in latter stages in GT's, due to his great recovery.

The final 20 kilometres of the stage was just look a hilly PCM-stage, with 50% of the peloton attacking, and a stage ending in a mass sprint....
Great ride by Cav again, think this wasthe most difficult of the 4, with the hills in the end of the stage.
Now bring on the mountains!!!

Goss got a perfect leadout the first day and got overtaken by 4 other guys...

I think all do all in on Cav on the coming flat stages. There are still two to come, if I'm not mistaken. |

Yes, because being dropped at the front with 250 to go with huge headwinds with 10 sprinters looking to bash over the top of you is absolutely perfect isn't it. They only got him in the last 30 metres. Hardly think he did anything wrong. |

Everything until the last stage has bumps near the end but I guess stage 17 might be a possible. I think it's unlikely but not sure how hard the last climb is. |

Cav looking absolutely shattered after todays effort, practically crawling up the podium steps! Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't make it to the next race day.
Shame though as he's been brilliant so far in the race, GB's star of the Giro!

So I'm guessing the points jersey is a lock now?

Just 1 question, what is situation about Cav in GBR? Anyone "hates" him now, after leaving Sky , or he is still hero? It's a bit off-topic,but your post made me thinking 'bout that.

Col du Mont-Cenis and Col du Galibier cancelled for Stage 15 and for tomorrow Sestriere and Bardonecchia in danger. Seems like Nibali already won this. Stage 15 is in danger to be reduce to only 50 km. There are only going to be 2 more Stages to challenge Nibali in the Mountains then.

So let me clarify this again. Sir Wiggins is out of the Giro now? Damn! He really had a hard time in this race, and the weather is his fierce enemy.

Just seen on the Giro's facebook page that they've cut the climb to Sestriere from todays stage to "preserve the safety of the riders". |

The new route will go through the Susa valley, up to the final climb. I'm not sure what exact route they'll take, but the profile will look something like this:

The only direct effect I see this having is that a favourite is more likely to win the stage, as it'll be much easier to control the gap now than earlier. In terms of the GC battle, I don't think it'll change much. They were always going to wait till the final few kilometres, knowing tomorrow's massive stage.
Speaking of which, race director Mauro Vegni says that they're still hoping to "save" the stage and have the Galibier included. Fingers crossed.
