Angry to see Viviani bail on Cannondale - Sipstream.
RIP Exxon Duke, David Veilleux, Double Feature, and Monster Energy

I'm not sure about MTN as well. I mean, if they signed a few non African cyclists, okay, but I think they now have more non-African than African cyclists in their team. And with Boasson Hagen, Bos, Goss and Farrar they have very strong non-African cyclists in their team, and they have Ciolek as well. I hope they won't lose their African image too much because that would be a real shame and a loss for cycling.

That's true, but you may not compare them with eachother. MTN-Qhubeka has as mission to train young African talents, while both Katusha and Astana are cycling teams sponsored by the country and their mission is to get the best results possible. And without many good cyclists in their own country they contract cyclists with other nationalities.

They still have Kudus, Meintjes, Berhane, Grmay and many more.
Should still be ~50-60% Africans.
Their goal is to train those but to give them the chance to ride the biggest races, they need those riders, that will bring them wildcards. |

If MTN Qhubeka was trying to get African cyclists they would have done it. Do you think they would have take all those non African cyclists for nothing ? You don't form a team because of the country but for the results that's it!

Name some good ones who a) would want to go to them and b) are as strong as the ones they have recruited.

Topsport-Vlaanderen would disagree. As would any number of Continental teams. I see MTN doing much the same thing as TSV in that they are working on training up people from a certain location (in this case the broader continent of Africa), with the added fact that they are there to advertise a charity that operates in that region. The strength of that charity is the hope that it instils in people, which is most effective if they see people like them (generally speaking, black and from their own countries) riding on the world stage. The only way they can ride on the world stage is to get those wildcards, as others have said. So ultimately it is not for the results that they have signed these riders, but rather for their reputations that can secure these wildcards even if they have unsucccessful seasons. If they go all year without winning a European race but get to ride the TDF then that would still be a hugely successful season for a team like MTN.

Trek signs Marco Coledan. Quite a weird transfer considering other better talents out there, even from Bardiani team as well. But hey ho.
Coledan and Mollema in so far with Voigt, Hondo, Kiserlovski and presumably Andy out.

Coledan has proven himself to be a very solid domestique and lead-out man for Bardiani. I guess they signed him to support Nizzolo. |

So they will have some riders to support Vanmarcke in the cobbled classics |
