Firstly, stop these giant quote pyramides. Secondly: A story writer of course has his readers in mind, but primarily, we write for our own joy. Therefore, you should respect the decisions made by the writer. It's okay not to agree with them, it's okay to express that opinion, but do it in a reasonable tone. You're not helping if you're almost insulting someone.

At least this whole controversy proves once again how many people feel connected to this story oh, and jakstar, you can always edit your post to delete the quotes!

Nice win in Dauphine BTW. He sure got over that whole best-friend-died thing pretty fast.
Edit: I know you said "It was Stijn or the story" but the reason I've been raging is becauuse that was the story. Now it's not special. So while this is a new story, to me "A Tale of Two" died. This is just an Epilougue of sorts.

As a fellow story writing I tip my hat off to you Ian. I may have stopped following your story a while back (because you were just so darn fast putting up updates I couldn't keep up) but pulling that "twist" takes guts. And I sir respect that. Keep up the great work.

Dont wanna be one of those guys, but I think I was probably the first person with a 2 rider story on the site It only lasted about a week, before it went back to being 1 rider, and I doubt Ian knew anything about it, but it did come before this one
Doesn't take away that this is by far the best one yet, and is the one inspiring everyone else to make them.

All right, all right, I wake up and find nearly 2 pages worth of shouting and screaming, pretty strange.
Anyone who thinks this story sucks now, that's too bad. I can't force you to follow, but I think if you'll keep following, you'll notice that it won't be crap. First of all because it's because of what I did that you liked Stijn. So any other story that I'll write will have the same author, and I'll always try hard to keep you entertained. I don't think whatever writing skills I may have (or not have) died with Stijn.
The most important reason for dropping Stijn was simply motivation, I dreaded racing the Giro and the rest of the story with both of them. Mainly because Stijn was just overshadowing Eric, and because Stijn provoked so many comments about everyone, and I got tired of trying to justify myself. Now I have a whole new motivation for Eric, trying to get him his dream of a lifetime: winning a GT.
Another thing was trying to take some risks. What hadn't been done in a story (except mighty valverde321 ): 2 riders.
All right, did that.
Then I thought, I want to stop. Or wait, actually I'd like to see Eric get by, so what hasn't been done in a PCM-story: death of a followed rider. So I did that.
I tough it was pretty awesome. Bertolt Brecht, keep your audience awake, shake it up a bit, don't be afraid of a little controversy.
I hope this settles it, if anyone has more questions, remarks, angry letters or great tips for the music on Stijn's funeral, please write so, preferably in a private message. Because, like it or not, this thread still belongs to Eric. Unless I decide to kill him, too, one day...
Spoiler I want to say I'm kidding but I won't plan that far ahead
Anyone who'll keep following: thank you very much for sticking it out with me!
Anyone who'll stop following: thanks for having been here, I hope you enjoyed it!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
@valverde321: Well, I certainly didn't know, but don't worry, I'm not claiming the "invention" of a 2 rider story. I just couldn't chose between a story of Stijn or of Eric so I started with both
@Mresuperstar: Thank you very much
@cunego59: Thanks a lot, man

I mean, he could have been wrongfully accused of doping, been suspended, and come back with slightly lower stats. But no. He was killed off like someone in a crime drama.
Incidentally, Crime movies are among my favorites genre.
Not crime genre-related: ever seen Psycho? Where the leading lady is killed off midway the movie? Brilliant screenplay. (and four academy award nominations)
I hope you'll still follow, though.

This is maybe the best story for PCM 12, and I'm really curious what will happen next...

Transfers
Jelle Vanendert and Lars Bak will be leaving Lotto-Belisol. What another loss for the team.
However, De Clerq will rejoin us in October. He's been making amazing progression and we'll have him start out with a very basic and easy to do schedule.
3 trainees have joined the team, two Belgian riders and one Italian.
Special Announcement
Later today there will be a very special announcement! |

Got to say i'm unsure whether to keep following...
The only reason up till now i've made the effort is because it was 2 man story.
Now, for me, it is just a one-rider story. An advanced one, in terms of time, but average in rider development. I never felt interested in Stijn or Eric as people, i just enjoyed the racing, and watching the rest of the Lotto team (mostly VdB and Vanendert) fight for some great results.
I might have missed bits about the riders lives and thoughts, but that was due to the speed of the story, which for me hurt it.
The problem was never that they were overpowered, that can always be changed, but that they started to high. This removed a lot of realism from the story for me.
My advice to you Ian, work on the rider outside of the racing. A few more blogs about his life (if he has one) and his training. The best one-rider stories develop the rider into a real human, and without Stijn you need to really focus on Eric as a person and a rider.
also, i remember Kentaurus trying 2 riders stories with PCM11 But yes you really defined the genre now.
Just needed to say all that, and i wish you the best of luck whether i keep following or not
