Unfortunately the Wolves missed the deadline, so I'm autoassigning them their first 8 picks.
PHILIPSEN Jasper
ALAPHILIPPE Julian
SENECHAL Florian
MARTINEZ Daniel Felipe
PICCOLO Andrea
GARCIA CORTINA Ivan
TESSON Jason
BONNAMOUR Franck
Could be worse I guess. Might even be the best top 3 for the opening weekend.
Changed my sig, this was getting absurd.

Sorry that I did not confirm, but when you said that the first 8 will be chosen automatically, I said that anyway, the first 8 picks are the only ones where I am kinda ok with it .

First results in, an important win for the Red Lanterns with Van Baarle and some back up points from Pasqualon. But it's much closer then last year. In France, the win goes to the Wolves. Full points will have to wait till monday.
I'll have to settle for 5th and 6th in Omloop, with Sheffield and a strong Wellens just missing out on the points. Stuyven, Vermeersch and Swift all showed themselves as well, so there's still hope for the next races. But Sagan, what was I thinking there..

Gaudu coming through for us in France, given the way things went 2nd was the best we would get, was never going to win the sprint. 7th and 10th in Omloop with Pollitt and Vanmarcke is at least some points.

Aw man, if only the chasing group wouldn't have been caught. Would have been Top 5 for Mohoric instead of 21st. Good points from Laporte still, Louvel in 13th and Rui Costa 9th in France adds some depth, but what could have been ...

Could definitely have been worse. De Lie 2nd in Omloop is pretty much the optimal start, given that I never had the chance to pick van Baarle. Bissegger in 20th place adding a few points is fine, too.
Faun-Ardèche on the other hand was slightly disappointing. Rota taking 7th is a good result, about what I can expect from him, but Higuita down in P20 is not great. Well, another chance tomorrow

First win for the Hussars, while the Cobblers are probably cursing themselves for not selecting Van Hooydonck. Anthony Perez went undrafted so we already have our first race without a winner in the league.
Wellens once again really strong but again not really rewarded for what he did. Stuyven 10th is ok as well, but after that Sheffield, Swift, Sagan, Vermeersch and Ballerini did nothing again. The last 4 just let it go despite being in the chasing group. We should have scored better here before Wout and Mathieu show up

Surprised to see the pack letting Jumbo do their stuff in KBK. I definitely expected a 30+ rider peloton to easily close that one-minute gap on 30km of flat roads, but I guess there were too many chiefs and not enough indians to get that job done. Would've been another 2nd place for De Lie, and so the resulting 7th place definitely is disappointing.
Clarke taking 8th in Ardèche is pretty much OK, given that he just returns from a period of sickness. On the other hand, Rota and especially Higuita were very disappointing, not even finishing the race after being in the Top 20 the day before.
All in all, an OK-ish starting weekend, with De Lie showing that he was a good pick, and the others having some room for improvement I guess.

The Italian Job
28/02/2023 Le Samyn CT1
1/03/2023 Trofeo Laigueglia CT1
4/03/2023 Strade Bianchi WT1
5/03/2023 GP Monsére CT2
After the Flemish opening weekend, Le Samyn opens the Walloon cycling season. The top riders will be expected in Italy though, for the Strade Bianche. It will be the first race for Wout and Mathieu, but no Pogacar yet. Before that we also have the Trofeo Laigueglia and after we finish this block with the GP Monseré
Once again the Italian races are a nightmare for startlists. I'm glad I demoted Laigueglia, but I really can't go lower for Strade. Keep checking PCS, but I will require your final startlist by Tuesday 10:00 am normal europe time. This is less than two days away, so don't forget!

At least I have the first 7 names currently on a startlist, but I agree, the Italian races are once again awful in terms of startlists. And Strade is one of Clarke's favorite races, so I'm supposing he'll get to race there again - but it's more likely than not that the lineup will get updated...

Block 1 results
Omloop saw some great scoring (75 points more than last year), with the Red Lanterns winning the race and the most points. Kuurne had a similar point increase, although some big points were missed too. Dominating win from the 59'ers there. In France, the Wolves took the win in the Ardèche with their improvised team. The winner in the Drôme Classic went undrafted, so it was again the 59'ers coming out on top pointwise.
In the rankings this means the 59'ers grab the first place, thanks to Costa, Mohoric and the top scorer in Block 1, Christophe Laporte! In second place we have the Hussars, despite their low number of racers and no Mathieu yet. Third place goes to the Red Lanterns, who couldn't really find a second big scorer after Van Baarle.
The Paladins are leading the rest of the pack, going all in on Belgium cost them some easy points in France. Next up are the Fainthearts, or Team De Lie, as I'll likely call them for the rest of the season. The W are next, scoring points all over the place, with especially Gaudu looking good so far.
Below 100 points we have the Nosepickers, it's not looking as well as last year for them. The Wolves are next, they lost a few points by not handpicking their starters. The Hornets are waiting for their Lord and Saviour Wout van Aert to start his season.
At the bottom we have the Bombers, but we remember the comback they made last year. The Cobblers also had a rough start, losing 101 Van Hooydonck points. In last place are the Tulips, who are waiting for Girmay to show up somewhere.

Awesome start, very happy with that. Mohoric with a great KBK making up for OHN being maybe 500m too long for him. And great to see Laporte delivering in this way. I don't know if he continues like this when WVA is back, but Jumbo looks so strong that they can easily place multiple riders in scoring positions.
Cunego 59ers Block 2:
MOHORIC Matej
COSTA Rui
GROVES Kaden
ANIOŁKOWSKI Stanisław
NARVAEZ Jhonatan
TEUNS Dylan
VAN GESTEL Dries
ZINGLE Axel
Only 4 guys listed on a startlist so far. Not ideal. Hope I got some of the predictions right as to who rides in Italy ...

Can be happy with 6/8 scoring (didn't notice Vansevenant didn't race in the end). Think this position would be great in the end for the team I have. Hoepfully Jakobsen can win some races to keep us alive, and guys like Allegaert/Simmons keep getting decent (depth) results
