Perfect, Preidler, clearly loosing time to be allowed in the breakaway on the upcoming stages |

Well, at least Kudus tried hard.
Congrats to DubbelDekker, looks like the race for the win is done here. Hopefully Kudus can at least get the 2nd place.

Well, there it is. The moment Eastman remembers us he's not going to be our saviour. There is space for recovery but this stage is probably a horrible omen.
Superb report once again Imladrik, thanks mate
And congrats on the complete anihilation of the field Dombo is causing, DD!

Thank you for another very nice report, Imladrik!
That was well done from the get go, team! Happy to have three riders, Preidler included, in the breakaway. Pretty surprised Preidler got that spent and Primozic being our best finisher, but it was a good try. Hopefully we have another go at it on the next high mountain stage.
Very, very good win by Dombrowski. Difficult to see him loose the race now. Congratulations on the big stage win, DD! |

What a day by Jaramillo, a shame that the peloton was too strong. Also a shame that Higuita was sh*t today, he needs to step up his game.

We got the right guys into the break but failed horribly with our tactics in there. Vosekalns not getting any kom points is horrible too

That was not really good. I guess it's because of Chiarello that we don't have a rider in such a break, but it's really not good.
Chiarello got a bit over optimistic about his own strength and lost quite a lot towards the end. The drop was inevideble, let's hope there's more room to maneuvre now he's 8th.

Great stage all round for us, Williams in the break and Carthy making some moves and finishing 2nd on the day. We've moved up to 4th overall and I will probably jinx myself here but only Eastman should be strong enough to overhaul him if we're basing this off stats alone. Still, a top 5 will be more than enough for us and we even have a shot at the podium which would be beyond all expectations and make up for a dismal Giro that we had.
Congrats to DubbelDekker for the win here, I think its safe to say Dombrowski has this one sewn up and can still win a few more stages as well which makes for a successful race for you! As expected, Kudus will grab 2nd but I'm sure he'll want a stage win as well.

Bold move from Kudus, but what a response from Dombrowski that was.
Formolo riding a conservative race payed off and he is now back in the top 5. Would be really disappointing if he falls out of the top 10 by the end of the race now.

Thanks guys! Very happy with this stage win.
The Kudus attack looked strong and had me worried at first, but in the end Dombro played his cards very well. While Peters and some others kept a good pace chasing Kudus he remained calm in their wheel. But he also made sure not to overrely on them and placed a well timed counter attack that he could sustain until the finish.
Both his legs and decision making are solid so far in this Vuelta. Let's try to continue that in the coming days. Also hope the peloton keeps chasing this well.

Higuitas struggle for white was well done, by saving himself at the KOMs he might have been able to take 2nd but Sosa was just that little bit stronger this time. Remembering when we went back and forth over either signing Higuita or Sosa, this proves that the decision still was a day-to-day one.
Fabolous report!

Very happy with this stage. We got the right riders into the break, played the numerical game very well and worked at the right times. Would have loved to get a first or second place from that group or more kom points from Vosekalns but we tried all the right things and just werent the strongest on the day. Gotta accept that
Fantastic report!

It's really sad to see Mavrikakis working in the peloton for Chiarello instead of picking the more obvious breakaway solution. Having 1 stagewin from Chiarello I can't complain too much about the results, but the way we are riding will make Chiarello drop out of the top 10 in the end, without having tried to go for a stagewin in the mountains.
Fingers crossed something will change, because those guys having fun out there resembles Mavrikakis and Spanopoulos quite well.

Great report, Imladrik!
Frustrating to see us completely miss out on the breakaway, seemed like we didn’t care at all, which is very worrying. This is not what we paid Preidler for, he better get back to work! |

Wonderful to see Foromolo still in the top 5 this late in the race. But that time - trial is looking quite scary and plenty of time could be lost there.
The remaining mountain stages should be good for his abilities, but a lot of things could happen there as he is yet to have a bad day so far, which most of the other GC have had, or the others could put in some huge attacks.

Big show of force by Kudus and a substantial time gain.
Dombro clearly felt his legs in this stage, but I'm glad he didn't crack. We'll soon find out whether this was just a bad day or third week fatigue.

Amazing, this is what we came here for. Good job, Sosa! Shame he couldn't quite take over the white jersey. It will be a tense fight until the end! |

Glad to see Eastman agitating things after last stage's disappointment. Not sure what to expect until the end now. Great dwy for Kudus. Could we see a late race upset?

What a comeback! That was the medicine we hoped for and aimed for with Preidler, and now, this Vuelta is mission accomplished whatever happens on the next two stages. Think he will struggle therre, and maybe not even be in the breakaway again on stage 20, like he wasn't on stage 17, but it's all good now that he found an even better stage to get in the breakaway on, and also being able to cap it off and run away with the win. He never looked to be in trouble, but I must admit I got nervous when he did nothing on the final climb, as I thought that was the moment to distance the others. Great to see him still able to arrive solo and not gamble on a sprint, where he would have struggled, I think.
Looking forward for what is to come! Preidler will definitely drop out of the top 10 on stage 20, as it could be touch and go for the MTT. Though, with this win, it's not that important anymore
Thank you for the report again, Imladrik! |
