On one hand, really happy for our friends from Sauber - massive congrats, sammy!
On the other hand, not really happy with the AI in this race. It looked like daily form had massive impact, and this time it even hit the leader some times. It somehow looks like the luckiest guy wins, as nobody is really consistent throughout the race.
Which is basically OK, I think. But if some guys - or even some teams - are always unlucky, that sucks. I said it earlier, I'm not a fan of Amador's skillset, but a guy like Campero just shouldn't beat him in a 10 day stage race (including a 20km TT). But yeah, it's the first mountain race of the season, so let's hope we won't always have this same pattern
Thanks for the amazing coverage to lief!
And I hope DarkWolf will still have some opportunities to celebrate this year - this race was just crap for you, sorry
Strange racing there, but congrats to Sauber and Carrefour. Commisseration to Volcanica, Amador did not have the debut he should have.
For us, it was a fun week if not successful on paper. Got to see a bunch of our young guys in the break every day fighting hard. Vabo as a stag with an uncertain future especially showed himself and got to wear white for it. It was a lot of fun, even if none of the guys were strong enough to hold on, and Olesen underperformed.
So in the end, even thought it's 10 almost pointless race days, it serves a purpose. With our roster construction, we were never gonna score much in CT, and this was a fun option to meet our XP goals and avoid any unfortunate clashes later. If we had to punt some race days, I'm glad they were at C2. Now back to the goal.
Thank you liefwarrior for all the reports!
